Iowa State showing no respect and UND defense showing no fight back. The first throw in double coverage was pure disrespect. This gonna get ugly unless someone for UND wants to get the boys up and going. Sh*t leadership to start for Bubba as per usual….

Offensive line play and defensive front play. That will tell the story of this game (and most games). Not Bo, Not Simon, despite how cool their stories are. UND’s offensive line has 4 new starters and a new coach … defensive line with new bunch also. We will see … but playing against Big 12 talent is the ultimate test for these new line of scrimmage units.

Cole Payton package has been average at best. UND stuffed the hell out of it last season in Alerus. Tried motioning out Miller and snapping it to Payton and he dropped the snap if I remember correctly. Good times. I agree with Colorado. A few very very good players but overall not a good team. Not well coached.

Well, to be honest, if Bubba and UND played Coach Prime (who I agree is an awful game manager) and his son in Boulder, CO, does UND even keep that thing within 21 points? doubt it. But…. UND would get a paycheck, right? UND football leadership and direction - which includes Bubba and Chaves principally - is embarrassing of late. UND FB 360 and all the other homers love their gaslighting with paychecks when someone brings up UND’s horrendous road record, namely FBS games.

You’re right; the best offensive coordinators stick to what is working and “don't get too cute”, as they say. Will see how the offense looks. I know Bo is fun and there’s a ton of attention on Romfo, but the true substance of the offense is the offensive line. 4 new starters and their first game is against Big 12 talent - that is where poor Romfo may not even get a chance. But we will see, maybe Fruechte and Coach Olson will have the OL more prepared than we think …

I wholeheartedly agree with everyone you said here. Bo is a special player. UND is fortunate to have him again this year. Bubba is not a special coach. But be careful with all that Bubba transparency, I can hear @jdub27 typing up a defensive response with some Massey ratings...

Lot of pressure on Coach Fruechte for this game and all of 2024, cause bumblin’ babblin’ Bubba ain’t it. Iowa State offense is going to have to come out with major first game rust and give UND some easy turnovers for this game to even be remotely close. The Montana game on 9/7 should be close only because the boys will be into it; at home, night game in the Alerus, etc. Football is an incredible team game based upon mindset, and there’s no way I see Bubba having his team’s mindset ready to compete for an actual win (not a moral victory) down in Ames tomorrow. But maybe Fruechte? One can dream, right …

His new offensive coordinator Isaac Fruechte, however, has some history in Ames. Fruechte was an assistant coach at Northern Iowa in 2019 when the Panthers took the Cyclones to triple overtime. Iowa State beat UNI 29-26.

I stand firm in my convictions. Not disappointed or ashamed in that, and your opinion (which is wrong, I might add) is certainly not going to change mine. The athletic department at UND, under Chaves, is far from perfect. The recent construction progress has been very impressive, I will say. But, would like to see more success on the field and a willingness to facilitate new hires.

And your quick backing response in support of Bubba despite sh*t results comes as no surprise. Your lackadaisical satisfaction with mediocrity is offensive, but also comes as a shock to no one.

“Good season” = status quo = 6-6 or 7-5. Rinse and repeat. I think this is a reasonable prediction (but equally pathetic expectation).

SDSU and NDSU expect to win these FBS games… whereas UND and Bubba have been well established as a program that plays for moral victories. I’m completely apathetic at this point having watched Bubba’s body of work over the past 10+ seasons. Would be incredibly surprised if UND even puts up a fight versus Iowa State. The way they played @ Boise and @ Nebraska the past couple seasons was an absolute travesty. Yet the guy is extended.

2017: Utah 7-6 2018: Washington 10-4 They were solid teams. UND and Bubba crapped themselves in both games, didn’t expect to win from the start.

Twitter (technically X) should matter. Prospective recruits (and nearly all coaches) use it extensively. This isn’t 1975 anymore (or even 2001 for that matter). UND football / athletics should hire someone exclusively for social media content, perhaps a student majoring graphic design, communication, marketing, etc., but that would suggest further moves towards football and not hockey, so who knows …

Pissing and moaning is par for the course when winning is the standard and you consistently lose approximately half of your games. I do enjoy the wins, but the losses hurt more than the wins feel good. Makes it rough. But I’m calloused and used it; been spending money on Vikings games for years, despite logic and my better judgement. Football is fun (and life), and tendency exists towards the heart rather than the brain with it.
