“hockey school” ?? What a joke of a term. How many DI flagship universities can honestly call themselves that? It’s a model that does not work; thus NDSU’s sudden rise over the past decade. Hockey is niche sport that can only supplement a DI athletic department, not carry it. The current model that UND employs is self-limiting. UND needs to expand football and basketball immediately. DI “hockey schools” are either private or underachieving. UND obviously falls under the latter category. As for the DI sports of football and basketball being medicore at UND, it’s hard for anyone with objective lenses to be critical when they are funded at a near DII level.

Early turnovers were absolutely huge. Hats off to the defense and special teams. Great job of the offense capitalizing on turnovers too. Ketteringham looked great minus 1 interception in redzone. 3rd quarter remains horrible weakness for UND - no scoring again for the UND offense. I loved the aggressive deep passes in the first half, though. Keep that up along with the physical running of Brady Oliveira and James Johannesson. Awesome to have a blow out win against a big name program like Montana. Also nice to do it in front of home crowd.

Real DI is a made-up term by UND hockey fans to make them feel special. No such thing as “real DI”, but whatever makes you think NCAA hockey is worth a damn.

You’re just an outstanding poet, huh? The mighty crown jewel of UND DI athletics, the men’s ice hockey team, just opened up their season with a loss to Bemidji. Let me say it again ... a loss to BEMIDJI!!! Wow, and people around UND think NCAA ice hockey is such a big deal ... Wow. Nothing wrong with NCAA hockey, but don’t bash FCS DI football or NCAA basketball over the medicore at best sport of NCAA ice hockey. UND needs to expand funding to other sports not played on ice immediately.

No. I expect a competent offense that correctly utilizes it’s personnel and actually scores points. Nice stretch by you, though. How is Uncle Paul doing these days?

His poor players don't know either because they apparently ran it incorrectly. A lot of complex terminology for an offense that doesn't produce much ... (i.e., that's bad).

Most offensive coordinators continue with what is working, even if it is after halftime; they make the defense show they can stop it. Now, with that said, the good offensive coordinators also never let a defense get comfortable and are always changing it up to keep defense off balance. Definitely a fine balance between doing what is working and also trying to keep defense on their toes.

This is also why Montana is favored in this game, despite UND having a similar record and playing at home in the Alerus Center.

Many of these predictions are indicative of Bubba deserving the axe. Let’s see how the real thing on Saturday goes ...

I’m afraid this is how Rudolph thinks, but it completely misses the point. When Santiago plays solely in the backfield, it takes the other top players off the field (Oliviera, Johannesson). UND’s offense would be harder to defend and, quite frankly, better if the offense regularly had #22 along with either #5 or #33 on the field at the same time. The depth chart situation at running back that UND has now doesn’t come around often. I sure hate to see UND and Rudolph waste this opportunity.

I’m confident in the opportunity, not so much in the actual preparation and execution of the team. I worry the UND offense and special teams will find a way to screw the opportunity up.

Crowd needs to be into it (which I admit doesn’t often happen in the Alerus Center unless prompted on 3rd down), but most importantly, UND defense needs to be ready to play! Get ‘em going, Bubba and Schmidt! Sack City grows by several

Hope to see another reaction like this from the Griz at the end of the game this weekend. UND needs to be ready for a hard-fought game. Bubba and his staff need to put in the work and get the team to be ready for a tough one. GO HAWKS, GET THE WIN!

I don’t disparage hard working people that have those jobs, I disparage you given your criticism directed at my life, which you know nothing about. Blind disparaging is somehow appropriate?
