  1. That Nebraska team (2022) was awful. Frost was fired the very next game, yet Bubba’s team once again couldn’t get out of its own way and finish for once.
  2. I don’t like to hear it, but I agree with you. Usually travel to every UND vs. FBS game, but won’t be going to this one …
  3. Major defensive improvement likely won’t happen with Bubba/Schwenzfeier combo. Those guys were besides themselves trying to sort out Sac State in the long-awaited home playoff game, and you could smell something burning throughout the Alerus as they tried to think of defensive solutions. BUT … IF better players (says every single coach in America)
  4. Don’t disagree there. This is absolute necessity for championship football. @The Sicatoka credited for this statement on numerous occasion, and he’s right. And to just throw in another source, here’s the most recent FBS national championship coach:
  5. The offensive coordinator post-2018 was the WR coach in 2018 and prior, so it has all really been the same under Bubba at wideout. Agree with @geaux_sioux earlier point. Need more talent out wide and need to better balance it with the running game and offensive line. QB will bring it all together and that is a major ? for UND going into 2024. We’ll see what the offense looks like week 1-3 and go from there. I anticipate the defense will continue to be outmatched so up to new OC and OL coach to work their magic.
  6. I agree. This is a talented but young receiver group. But honestly, UND fans better get used to it. No more senior-laden receiver groups, unless you want to be one-dimensional offensively. Receiver is one position group that can contribute immediately (as freshmen), and in this day and age of college football, it will happen a lot for UND. The good ones will be gone after year 1 or year 2 to greener ($) pastures. Enjoy Deng, Tai, and Hakim while they’re here. Bo Belquist is an exception to the rule, not the norm. He had opportunities to leave, but local ties kept him here. Hopefully OC can utilize the talent and will not prioritize seniority. Bubba’s old school “development” approach scares me- he’ll have to adjust or continue to be a 0.500 coach. Development has been questionable at best for UND of late, but new facilities could help tremendously.
  7. Some people stick to their observations, despite what they want to happen. I want UND to be great, but I also think we know what we’re going to get with a Bubba led team at this point. Just above 0.500 football, no FBS upset, and certainly no big road wins or playoff wins. That means Iowa State game to start the season is almost certainly a loss; I expect they keep it close during the first half but get blown out in second half per usual fashion. Only unknown is new offensive coordinator/new QB combo, but the overall leadership and motivation (and also defense and special teams) remains the same.
  8. Well… … at lest there’s consistent inconsistency. Recruiting and game-planning are definitely important, but need to be able to motivate also. Styles can differ in how to do that, but ultimately need to get that done. Not sure this generation of student-athletes will garner much, if any motivation at all, from current voice of UND football.
  9. Anything can happen, but I just hope this doesn’t get too ugly on national TV … bubba ball It is the first game for both teams, so a lot of possibilities.
  10. Coach left because UND program is perceived by those on the inside as being on thin ice. Response by leadership was to extend the leader and “motivator” that led them onto said thin ice. Real risky “bold” move I’d say. If one wishes for ongoing success despite the old voice still in place, then need to hope the new facilities brings in an upper tier of talent previously not seen at UND, and hope the new OC is a prodigy.
  11. Been a long time coming. When Nodak Insurance Company Sports Performance Center is complete as well, then everything will finally be in place for UND football. Took 15+ years, but UND football is finally supported like a division I program. Hopefully unprecedented success follows…
  12. And you continue to be overly optimistic within your pursuit to police opinions on here…?? Ok. Not sure why one would go to bat over third place in the conference, seems petty and of low expectations, but you do you. There are some reasons to be excited, and still plenty of reasons to also be concerned. I’ll continue with the moderate approach despite your sentiments.
  13. UND projected to regress, from third place in the conference to fifth. A lot of proving to do for incumbent Bubba, but the seat never seems to warm for football coaches in Grand Forks and UND, or so it appears. UND football coaching compensation remains behind peer institutions, and you ultimately put your money where your mouth is. Would be surprised if the team is very good or very bad, as we’ve been conditioned to expect ongoing UND football mediocrity (6 to 7 wins and early playoff exit) at this point. X’s and O’s may change with new offensive coordinator. Players may improve in short term with new strength and conditioning coach and in long term with new facilities. Only time will tell I guess …
  14. Fabulous idea, and honoring the past accomplishments of UND football to appeal to prospective recruits and their families is absolutely necessary. Message me; I’m definitely happy to contribute.
  15. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/college/und-football-lands-maple-grove-offensive-lineman-with-nearly-20-division-i-offers?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR1o19gsSx-KsHkQ5-tB7hfLrQ49veahy6MQUnTQb-Rab0dF4H8lMZMx5vs_aem_yT1EI4hdOtb2_4Bb0dvcJw Fabulous. Starting to see just the beginning effects of the outstanding new facilities. If done right down to the finishing touches, the overall facility will make UND football truthfully top tier in FCS football. First event on the new turf scheduled for 7/16/24 (Flagship Camp #2). Keep it rolling!
  16. Only time will tell on recruits; there are many variables. History is a fairly good predictor of the future. There are new individuals that provide a little bit of hope; new offensive coordinator, new strength and conditioning coach. The new facilities are outstanding. But our current head coach’s established philosophy and game day demeanor does not provide much hope or optimism, in my opinion.
  17. Ha! I don’t know what’s more funny; this or the fact @SiouxBoys disliked this!
  18. I missed the part where I put words in your mouth … those are my words.
  19. It’s in shambles. Yet, extend the cause (Bubba) … and Chaves sticks his neck out for it too interestingly.
  20. Yes, but it is reality now, unbelievably. And yet all you bubba lover boys still think he’s a “leader of men”. Couldn’t even lead his own grown adult coaches…
  21. Sorry @90siouxfan, but your opinion equally is of no significance whatsoever.
  22. Oh, I shall. No follow the leader from me. Independent thought will direct it towards football and basketball. Anyways, now that that inevitable reaction has somewhat subsided… As for Mikkelsens, happy they donated. I don’t know them; my comment was not directed towards them personally. The stupidity is more of a region-wide issue, I’d say.
  23. Traditionalism, culture, and, my favorite of all, stupidity.
  24. Right, Mussman was so awful that there should never be another OC considered for HC again… how about this one; a good division II defensive coordinator / average division II head coach does not automatically make a great division I HC. There’s a prime example right in front of all of us.
