  1. Ha some of these posts are just outlandish and really indicate how clueless some observers are
  2. Have to try something different because complacency with this horseshit is a fireable offense
  3. If you have two quarterbacks, you have no quarterback.
  4. Yeah, not good at face value. Can UND’s offensive line step up or not?
  5. You are not wrong. Kudos to fans and players; coaches … ehh … not so much
  6. In Bubba‘s tenure, these are the kind of games that UND plays well in. Pressure is off after 0-2 conference start, must win, nobody gives you a chance, UND will probably win this football game. Unfortunately, UND likely will still lose another game or two this season and will miss the playoffs. Ultimately finishing around 0.500 as we have come to expect. What else is new, history repeats itself …
  7. I sort of get that feeling as well, unfortunately. Still more than enough work to be done, on and off the field.
  8. Agree, that’s where I see him. Staple in middle of defense. Big get, NDSU wanted him
  9. I honestly was not that impressed with USD. They held UND to only 13 points, so one could say that they played solid defense, but it was moreso UND being unable to get out of their own way offensively, in my opinion. Too many procedural penalties from UND and the passing game has not been explosive for UND this season. Lastly, UND has struggled getting their running game going all season due to offensive line issues (change in lineup as opposed to the spring). If I had to pick one thing that USD did well, it would be their inside running game. USD #5 Travis Theis ran hard and was a good physical runner. Otherwise, not too impressed with USD's passing game. UND's pass rush has been pretty solid this year, like most years, and against USD they were able to keep #18 Carson Camp uncomfortable and pick up some sacks. Unfortunately, UND's offense was far too dysfunctional to win the game for UND.
  10. And UND fans have only been saying that for a decade it seems like … Hard to recruit to Grand Forks apparently because everyone knows the more speed the better
  11. UND started as a top 10 team. That usually means playoffs and a couple wins, so, unless UND wins a couple playoff games, this season is a failure.
  12. UND with a lot of positions that don’t scare anyone, but perhaps on the cusp
  13. College football is significantly impacted by coaching. You pose excellent questions, but the reason coaching is always the bottom line is because the coaching staff chooses (recruits) the players. They also formulate the schedule, the scheme, and ultimately the entire environment and direction of the program is dictated by the coaching staff. Sure, sometimes the players don't listen or don't have the ability to do better, but the coaches had thousands of options and ultimately chose the particular student-athletes they wanted to represent their program. In bigtime college sports, wins/loses dictates so much. It is important to not split and be overly critical; sometimes, a different voice and different direction is needed and that does not necessarily mean the replaced staff was incompetent.
  14. Watch the bizons come out in droves now. Go back to bozoville and thump your chest there.
  15. That’s not what I meant and it was pretty obvious. Contemporary college football is all about including the QB running game and/or emphasizing the QB position. But if you really want to nitpick, just look at last year’s FCS champion. SHSU in the semifinals and final barely ran for over 150 yards total, outside of QB Schmid’s running production, but they spread teams out and we’re smart with both vertical/horizontal passing game. Again, I am NOT advocating for abandoning the running game. And to make it sound like I’m against running football is asinine and juvenile reading interpretation. The top teams need to be able to run the ball, but they oftentimes have a QB that significantly contributes to the running game and/or QB can elevate the team with his arm and leadership, not just be a game manager and be “adequate”
  16. So all the NFL scouts and local sports writers failed and they and I don’t know what we’re talking about? Right … I’ll take the odds here and say you don’t know what you’re taking about
  17. Yeah, and I think NDSU starts losing more when more of Entz’ recruits hit the field. Horrible coach with a very very good program around him
  18. But they play UND next … upset? probably, this is type of game Bubba wins when all the pressure is off now with 0-2 start
  19. Quite a few awards? How many years in the league? Damn, he was an amazing all-conference type guy for UND… alright, alright, I shouldn’t be so harsh; but really? Hendrickson? That mini-2012 run was a fluke, not the norm, or else he would’ve been a 4 year starter. Heck, he couldn’t even finish out the 2012 season as the starter Next question/answer …
  20. I see a ton of QBs that ARE the running game. Offensive line always a factor, but don’t act like offenses around the country don’t rely some or a lot on the QB running game, which is absent at UND currently
  21. disagree to a degree; even in the spring, when the running game was shutdown (NDSU, JMU), Schuster couldn’t carry the team. Offensive line must improve, but good QBs cover up offensive line deficiencies. To ask for the OL to improve while tolerating mediocre QB play is backwards. See my previous post on settling for “adequate” quarterbacks. That’s not the way the game is played currently; QB is too important to team’s success or lack thereof. nonetheless, both areas (OL,QB) need to improve
  22. As they say, you are what your record says you are. UND is a losing football team, 2-3 overall, 0-2 in conference. Great people within coaching staff, for sure, but need to produce as per record. I attended game. Lackluster performance, no motivation or leadership. Perhaps letdown after NDSU game? Talked about all week, and looked to become reality. The last two games were conference games; the way the line looks and the mental fortitude of the team during these games should be weighed the most. On to Southern Illinois; improvements must be made schematically and mentally. Close consideration to personnel change (e.g., QB) as well.
