  1. Here's the update link for Feb. 25:

    USCHO Brackets

Here's what they boil it down to:

    West Regional:

15 Holy Cross vs. 3 North Dakota

11 Ohio State vs. 6 Minnesota

    Midwest Regional:

    13 Notre Dame vs. 4 Minnesota-Duluth

    12 Denver vs. 5 Michigan

    East Regional:

    14 Colgate vs. 2 Maine

    9 Miami vs. 7 Wisconsin

    Northeast Regional:

16 Bemidji State vs. 1 Boston College

10 St. Cloud State vs. 8 New Hampshire

Amazingly enough, we dropped to third in the PWR and UMD is now in fourth. A split would probably help UND more, since they beat a top ten team on the road. Feel free to correct me on that Jim.

Either way, I think it makes this an even bigger series. I'd be curious to see if UMD got ahead of UND, if they'd be sent to Michigan or Colorado.

  2. The sports ancho on ABC out here pulled some highlight video of some hockey mascot race. They all got a good laugh out of the Duluth Bulldog and some Eagle thing. I'm guessing it was maybe UMC. I'm just wondering what this race was. BTW, the Bulldog won. My question is where was Blizzard, the SCSU mascot? Us UND fans love to cheer that mascot on. :)

  3. Didn't read the link, so maybe it was answered there. Is NDSU giving up on the Big Sky now, or will they bolt this new alliance at the drop of a hat?

WYOBISON: This new conference will get you some games in other sports, but other sports have 2 to 3 times as many games as football.

I agree with someone earlier. I think FB will be fine and maybe wrestling could pull something magical, but boy I truly believe every other sport is screwed.

  4. The issue that needs to be addressed is that Cirrus wanted to move their "headquarters" to GF but had to eventually move it to Duluth, because of GF/ND's red tape.

The new neuroscience research center that is currently being built behind the Med School should help bring in future dollars to the community.

I wonder why UND has trouble developing their Tech Park?

Going with Cirrus, and the other wind thread, but I believe they also make the blades for the wind turbines.

PCM, I'm with you on the cold over the heat. SFiP will agree with me on this; there is nothing closer to he// than being in 115 - 120 degree weather. My dashboard starting melting with a windshield cover on! But, it's in the low 50s right now, and my apartment is at 63 degrees. I refuse to turn on heat in Cali.

  5. I thought the Devils were already solid at D & didn't need anyone else back there.

Watching a broadcast the other night, the announcers talked about NJ defensmen injuries. I believe Stevens might still be out with a concussion, and they lost another player or two. Plus, they do have two rookies playing and veteran defense is what you want for the playoffs.

  6. This whole thing is dumb. I personally don't do disrespectfull things when I'm in a visiting teams building. But, with you Penalty Box guys warning/threatening people, you're more likely to have someone try it. If beating up other fans is what you guys want to do, then maybe the DECC needs to look into relocating your seats.

  7. I love it in GF. It's actually the heat that annoys me. Of course now I'm in Cali. I took a teaching job that pays me 15,000 more than GF offers. And GF pays the highest starting teaching salary. What can I say; I need to pay off my loans. Then again, my job is a lot tougher out here.

I think eventually people will want to go back to cities that don't have rush hour traffic jams and get their kids away from schools that have way too many students. Average class size when I subbed in GF over Xmas was 15. Here it is 33. It's not education in big cities, it's crowd control with some herding involved. Even sports should be a big factor. We have a middle school of 2400 students, and one 15 player boys bball and one 15 player girls bball. It just seems odd that when these schools have more kids, they have less teams.

While there are some neat things to do in big cities, no matter where you go takes forever. So you just tend to not do them.

I think Bismarck, Fargo and GF should be able to grow and start attracting families, but the rural part will just get less populated.

I will not stay here in Cali.

  8. Yes, he has had a good first year. I just can't imagine him winning ROTY when Zach didn't last year.

That's because minny didn't want us getting so many. :)

How many WCHA Rookie of the Year do the Sioux have anyways? I believe Brandon was and someone in front of him. Bayda maybe? I'm guessing Goering, and I know Landon Wilson was one.

It seems like we can win this award quite often.l

  9. There is no 5/8 rule in D2.  An example is this year the Sioux men brought in 6 new guys, Gutter, Doyle, Austin, Parks, Nobles, and Stoute who are all on some amount of scholarship.

Yes, but are they full scholarships? Does that make a difference?

  10. You mean the 5/8 rule? It means you can only give out 5 new scholarships to one class and 8 scholarships over 2 recruiting classes... I am guessing D2 does not have this.

That's the one. I knew it had some catchy name to it.

  11. I think J Par's recent play will take him out of the running.

You never know. I'm sure he'll get another start this season. If not this weekend, then it will be against Tech. If he gets a shutout, then he had a very good season. Though, I believe that Murray's was better.

  12. Who are some other candidates for WCHA rookie of the year? Does that get voted on after the playoffs?

I think Murray and Parise will steal votes from each other when it comes to the WCHA rookie of the year.

  13. The DII mens limit is 10.

The DI mens limit is 13.

Those "so many in so many" rules you mention I've never looked at.

I know the 'so many in so many' exist in DI, unless they got rid of them due to all the early departures. I'm just not sure the exact rule. With us having a big junior class, I'm guessing it doesn't exist at the DII level.

  14. I remember how the Minny fans were touting their PP and that we take too many penalties and we held them to 1 PP goal I believe.

We do need to stay out of the box, since even Mankato was able to score on the PP against us.

I wonder if the almighty head of officials will be gracing these games with his presence this weekend.

  15. Do you know what the word foreign means?

Indians are a minority yes...but they were always here. Asians, Africans, and Latins are the real minorities that i was referring to.

Nothing previous to this mentioned foreigners. YOU mentioned UND's demographics being mostly white. Native Americans are non whites, and therefore, are a minority.

In fifteen years white people will be a minority to hispanics.

  16. Why was Kupchella getting letters from visiting fans?

Those were only from UNA fans that said anything about racism.

And since NDSU has made racist remarks towards UND's (and other schools) .008% minorities (figure according to Bison1234), what does that say about your fans?

  17. Question: Parise got drafted after his freshman season. Why can't Stafford to the same? Why would he lose college eligibility? Could he opt in next year without penalty?

Because he started the season at the ripe age of 17, if I'm not mistaken.
