  1. I figured I'd add this here.

The Wisco broadcast just showed a NCAA appearence banner. I'm surprised that minny doesn't have one of these, because they ALMOST make as many banners as SCSU does.

On the games; every time I turn to the Minny game it looks as if AA is taking it to them, then Minny goes down and scores.

Wisco and SCSU is another tight game. They've been doing a lot of face washing and hitting after the whistle, but kind of a boring game. No shots really getting on net.

  2. I had a friend who watched the game on dataflix last week. He said it was the best quality he had seen all year. Went as far as saying that it was as good as watching TV.

    Sioux Yeah Yeah!

Yeah, but that was when the game was at the REA.

  3. I don't think Messier and Blake were actually fighting. Messier (who is much bigger) was holding Blake by the throat. That's why his face was turning red. The sad thing is that the ESPNEWS guys were just laughing about it!

  4. Near as I can tell, the audio link is kaput. Usually you can get music well prior to the game. Anyone else experiencing problems? I'm in Hannover, Germany and it's damned late here and I want my Sioux!!!! If it's a problem at my end, any updates will be greatly appreciated. If it's not at my end, somebody locally please apply your foot to the proper behind to get our audio link up and going!!!! Macht schnell!!!

My audio isn't working either, and I don't know if I want to shell money for the webcast.

  5. Many of you may see this as bitching by the students. Just because we dont pay full price for tickets doesnt mean we should be subjected to harsh treatment.

I think it should also be noted that students pay fees along with tuition that go right to the athletic dept.; whether they go to the games or not.

  6. Same with us in 302. We need a guy like the Vikings hired from the Houston Oilers to go around and rev up the crowd. If it on the big screen people seem to cheer. Lets get that out there. The every one up and stand up and cheer seems to help. Also you can't hear the band very well from 302, so maybe that needs to be address. However, the piped in music is drowning out the students cheers.

BC had some guy leading the cheers at Albany in 2001.

  7. What? You don't like the NASCAR look on hockey players?:huh:

I'd be surprised if the NCAA ever allowed that level of advertising on its players. They don't even allow ads on the boards at the Frozen Four.

I noticed at the World Junior Championships in Helsinki that they had advertisements in each of the circles. I found that quite annoying. I found myself wondering if players had any trouble tracking the puck when it moved off the white ice and into the colored circles.

If I remember correctly, I believe that CC has some ads inside the blue line. It is annoying to look at. I'm not sure if it is even allowed in the NCAA.

  8. I agree completely, Riverman. I sent an e-mail to the Ralph asking them to please put out-of-town scores on the fascia ring instead of "advertising" for the next game, which by the way, season ticket holders know is going to happen. The response from the Ralph was "thank you, we're working toward a solution." Obviously the solution is to have Hennen talk more. Maybe more people would look at the scoreboard if they actually had a reason to a la out-of-town scores.

I've always wanted to see some stats posted. Aren't they all done by computer anyways?

  9. Why does it have to be small? That's just your opinion. Mine is that i want to see the big schools who deserve to be in the tournament compete. It would be just as easy to like a school like Nebraska, who doesn't have the traditional basketball success, come out of the early rounds and knock off a big timer like Kansas.

THAT is a cinderella, my friend. Schools like Gonzaga are just distractions and take away from a tournament when a big school could have got in there and been more competitive.

This will be my last bit, since this is a fb thread.

Gonzaga is now a bball power and became that way by playing well in the big dance. The problem with just BCS schools is the tourney would have to remain small, otherwise teams that don't deserve to be playing would be (not that it doesn't happen now). I'm not denying that it wouldn't be good. A team like Nebraska would never get in unless they had one hell of a season to begin with i.e beating Kansas (or other powers) in the regular season.

Take this year for example. I'm really excited to see how well Saint Joseph's can match up against the BCS schools (that won't play good small teams due to fear of RPI). Right now they are undefeated. I wouldn't consider them a cinderella team, but itwould be fun to watch them beat some big time programs.

There are very good small conference teams out there, and I don't think it should always be about the big schools. There are some crappy big schools. I think the current NCAA bball tourney has a nice Hoosiers feel to it and brings in a lot of money.

  10. I guarantee that the majority of the money will follow the big basketball school. CBS will not be shelling out money if the big schools are not in the NCAA's tourney.

I question if they'd truly receive more money. Remeber, less games means less advertising and ticket sales. A team like Gonzaga wouldn't even be allowed in and they have become a big time tourney TV draw.

Not only that but i'm dumbfounded how people always say "what about the cinderella teams?"... yes..what about them?

There are cinderella's within the BCS teams too. It doesn't have to be a small school. All you need is a team like Nebraska knocking off Kansas and you get a cinderella.

Nebraska gets a couple of chances a year to knock off Kansas. That's not a cinderella team. A cinderella team is a small school that should have no shot of making a run, but they do deserve to be in the tourney. Plus, if I have to see a below .500 team playing in the big time tourney without winning a conference tourney, I'd be really ticked. It already ticks me off that we see 6 terrible Big 10 teams in it year after year.

  11. I think the coach should be full time. I think that way Blais would be more likely to listen to him. Plus, the goalie coach could get a lot more video watching done and even on opposing goalies.

I love the idea of it being a guy like Toby K. He is known to the program and coach Blais.

  12. Brandt had the goalie job all to himself coming into the season and, for whatever reasons, has not played well enough to be "the man".

Did he really have the #1 job to begin with? If I'm not mistaken, Parise got the nod against UMD to begin the year and I'm sure Blais knew that UMD would be good this year.

  13. Just like NDSU would never leave the NCC, huh?

Why not simply bring march madness with them?! After all, they have most of the main march madness teams with them. I think the TV's would rather watch UGA vs. UFL than Gonzaga try to take on Southern IL.

Maybe they would, but I always will watch a close underdog game rather than the boring UF vs. Georgia tilt (even though I'm a UF fan). The great thing about March Madness is the cinderella teams. I also don't think they'd get as much TV money by having a smaller tourney. Currently the majority of the BCS conferences get in anyways, and allowing any more (if they had their own tourney) would have below .500 teams.

  14. UND has went to the NC game twice without playing a road playoff game... also UND has never won a road playoff game... considering UND's record in the Alerus... if I were a UND fan (thank goodness I am not  ) I would want to play as few road games as possible in an effort to secure homefield

Yes, but the National title is played on grass and it always seems to be crappy weather. I guess I should have said that instead of getting to the big game.
