  1. Some have said that you have to bid for it to get it out of Michigan. Apparently the Michigan Schools have a lot of clout to keep it in Michigan. I am hoping that eventually UND will get it a lot more with the new arena.

I still wish that rumor was true about Engelstad buying the Frozen Four so it could come back to GF.

Was it last year's regional that Minnesota made a really high bid to get the game, or did the REA mess up on that one? Or was it for this year?

  2. The NCAA would be much smarter to send UND to Colorado, than UND to Michigan. Way more fans in Colorado. Aren't most of these regionals close to sold out anyways? They should seed based on who's best, not who they want in the tourney. The FF is sold out. Who cares if no East team is in it. Oh wait...ESPN controls the NCAA and that explains it all.

Can we please get the midwest regional out of Michigan. It's sickening that it's held there every year.

  3. What is the tuition at UND and NDSU?

When I was looking at schools in 98, I had a full ride to Minnesota. I chose UND on a partial (didn't score big enough on ACT), because it cost more to live at Minnesota than cost of living AND school at UND.

  4. Did anyone see the young stars game? Paul Martin was in it, and Pang, Melrose, and is it Thorne talked about him being home. They then mentioned how NJ always seems to get the right young players and mentioned Hale on the blue line and how they traded up to get Parise. It was odd that they just said their last names and didn't elaborate, but hey at least they acknowledged college hockey.

  5. Well, it just so happen I know Ryan and it just so happens that he might be coming back this year. So you can flame some more and keep running that mouth because you know what is about to happen.

    Wow. You know Ryan!? Really!?!

  6. Not for long my friend, we all know who the tournament team is. Can you say Sweep? I sure can. Settle down, there's always next year. :D

UMDDogz can say sweep. His Bulldogs put the hurt on your precious team. Wait a minute. The Sioux did as well. In fact your Gophers haven't swept either of us. Wisconsin can gloat.

Way to jump on the bandwagon. Amazing how you weren't flaming when you were losing.

  7. The link says it won't start until 7 p.m. I'm hoping that it goes active then.

That's my guess as well, but I'm not putting in a whole lot of faith. I believe this is the first time they've done this for a game.

  8. The pep band doesn't fall under the athletic department, it falls under the music dept. And yes, cheerleading is a sport at UND, believe it or not. And just for the record, the football team has habitually had one of the best GPA's of sports teams at UND for the past few years.

Sure you can call cheerleading a sport, but they don't get letters. Therefore, they are like a club sport. Why not list the Rugby teams GPA. I do realize that cheerleading is more visible, but they aren't a lettered sport anymore.

While the band is run at the music dept. and payed for through the music dept, I believe they fall under the athletic dept as well (and probably get a little funding). At most schools the athletic dept funds the band trips to away games and tourneys (not ours however). Plus, the athletic dept. would say whether or not these bands get to even play at games.

  9. I can't go and blame Brandt for this loss. I was very surprised to read that Dean said he should have had the last two goals. I don't know. On the game tying goal, his leg was there. It was a good shot. Not his fault the man wasn't covered in front. The overtime one was a great shot as well.

Everyone made a mistake at some point in that game. Brandt's is just more visible.

After those comments about Brandt, I wonder if he'll play again. But then again, the players did call Blais 'Dr. Hook' last year.

  10. CRAP! ANd I was pulling for you guys tonight too! DANG IT! BEAT THE RED MENACE!

    WPoS

The one good thing out of this is that Wisco moves ahead of Minny. Sorry WPoS. ;)

I really want Minny to get stuck in the play in game. I'm hoping it might hurt them come the NCAAs as far as being fresh.

Lets see...we score 3 goals in the first. Played excellent hockey and controlled the period. Then we thought we could coast. Then came the third. Our period. Oops. That didn't work either. This is good for us. We lost in the third. Blew three goals. Now they hopefully realize that you have to play a full game. We can't just count on coming back in the third.

The Kohl center reminded me of the Old Ralph when we came back against Minny all those times. 15,000 chanting people is tough to go against and we'll see it again in Boston.

  11. the breathing techniques were Excellent!..haha..i understand what you mean, and i know ..twin cities teams have been doing it since they have had hockey programs. it seems so much worse because within a 30 mile radius up north..you will find..maybe 2 or 3 high schools..at most..where as in the twin cities..you couild find well over 20 to chose from...so switching seems to be the norm..i dont like the idea of recruiting ONE bit..but i guess i chose to be a little more accepting with warroad..seeing how they have such a rich hockey heritage..and arent a rich high school in the suburbs..

Ahhhh, that is where you are wrong my friend. The high school might not be rich, but they don't do the recruiting. Marvin windows is rich and hooks parents up. I hear that Wyatt Smith's mom was given a beauty salon for them to move from TRF.

  12. Good first period. We got some good bounces, and played a very good period. We look like we want to pound them tonight. I like how we're even scrummin' a bit after the whistle. It shows how intense they are.

Bina is pretty fast. Smaby is finally looks like he wants to hit someone. Brandt is in position to make the saves.

What is with FSN. They use our logo when they first come on the air. Everything after that has been the geometric logo. For those lawyers: Could UND tell FSN that they can't use the geometric? If it's a PC move, the new logo is much better than having the geometric.

  13. 2-1 MN over BSU after one. BSU's Andrew Murray scores with .4 seconds left in the first.

Wow. I like how the Sioux home games on Friday start later. Gives me a chance to watch other games. The Sioux/Gopher games were pretty much even, so I didn't see much of the first in Minny.

  14. Well Im living in Jersey now so its not much of a loss, I was more hoping for some Sioux friendly Engelstad related bar.

You can try the Imperial Palace. It is Ralph's casino. Your best bet is buy the digital satellite, or get DirecTV or Dishnetwork. The digital will give you all the home games. The other two give you some away games/whatever CSTV shows. Plus east coast games. I've heard rumors that Victory will produce all Sioux away games, so who knows?

  15. No greater memory from high school then getting in trouble because of our numerous signs ripping on Warroad and their recruiting. Patrick Knutson still rules. ;)

The Anderson Windows Plexiglas signs around the rink. The American flags. People in the rafters chanting USA! USA! And of course "Diet Pill Will" from '95.

That same year (my freshman year was the aftergame brawl on the ice that lead to the locker room and outside with the fans. The subsequent letters to the Geraldo editor saying how naughty our fans were. Then the lectures on fan support. Man did teams hate playing East Side back then, and it was because of the fans!

  16. Oshie "playing the system"....Warroad has a tendency to do that!! Trust me......however, this Oshie kid has some excellent hockey skills......I think he'll develop just fine, and be a nice addition some day! Maybe doesn't have the great speed quite yet, but maybe give him time.......

Warroad should have a lock on the state tournament at the "Class A" level.

The funny thing on Warroad this year (along with every other year) is that they were already beating up on teams pretty handily and then some kids from Oregon or Alaska started playing the second half of this season. I know for a fact they tried getting some current East Sider's to go play for them the past few years. Wait, let me restate. They offered the parents jobs ;).

Warroad and the privates should play midgets or have their own state tourney.
