  1. Taylor's statements during the past week (and Douple changes in stance as a result of Taylor's statement) definitely imply that they have close relationships. Maybe that's why, based on hearsay, that Bisonville posters are reporting a UND affiliated legislator is going to introduce a bill forcing UND and NDSU to play (even when their both in the Summit?!). Bisonville posters would never post anything based on hearsay, it always unimpeachable information. ;)

    :lol::)

  2. sponsored by Potter of Bismarck, D (UND grad), Glassheim, D Grand Forks (Wesleyan Univ), Wald R Dickinson (UND grad... who said NDSU would regret going DI, and introduced a bill disallowing state money to be spend on DI sports other than UND Hockey), Kelsch D, Fargo (NDSU grad), Mock D, Minot (Home town GF), UND grad

Senatory Bakke Grand Forks D (UND Grad)

looks like they got a token R and NDSU grad

  3. For UND, next week the Board will announce the nickname is being dropped, some time thereafter, before summer, UND gets a site visit.

Changing your tune a bit? I thought Gene Taylor was going to wield his massive influence to prevent UND from joining the Summit League. Do you think Taylor will also initiate new Summit League policy (through his crony Douple) which would prevent NDSU from playing UND even though they are in the same conference :D:angry::D

  4. If true that would be a huge blow. I would have to question our administration as to why we only have a $25,000 buyout while Cal Poly's buyout is $150,000. I think it would be cheaper for them to buyout the contract than travel to Grand Forks. Makes no sense to me.

Idaho State bought out of their return game to SDSU as well so this doesn't surprise me.

That I can remember- only Weber State of the Big Sky has fulfilled the return game part of the schedule with a Dakota school

(Montana bought out of 2-1 with SDSU, ISU bought out of return to SDSU, and Mont St may return game to NDSU but I think it is doubtful)

  5. Because Roger Thomas was not supportive of a DI move up (by anyone), he's upfront enough to call a press conference proclaim that and announce NDSU desire of scheduling (would which have been dropped by NDSU after the transition) would not be accepted. There's no intent to deceive anyone about UND's intentions. Takes cahoons: but NDSU nation goes absolutely bonkers. "To think that UND won't do what we demand of them."

    But Gene Taylor:

    - privately proclaims he'll never schedule UND while he's at NDSU, but the media doesn't report this, because it's not a press conference.

    - attempts to deceive the public about why he won't schedule UND. the media reports it, knowing it's total bull$%!#

    - attempts to get his conference commissioner to have a policy to not schedule UND, eliminating nine schools as possible opponents

    - by his actions appears to harm UND chances of getting into a conference

    - by his actions, any small chance of UND getting Tribal nickname approval are down the drain

    - acts in direct conflict with NDUS policy, yet isn't reprimanded.

Moral equivalence: only to a criminal mind.

I heard Taylor also tried to sell WMD to Iran. All of the local media knows about it but they love NDSU and hate UND so they won't report on it.

  6. I also think you really underestimate the factor of the population of the F-M area in NDSU's attendance figures in all sports.

Northern State averages more fans playing DII basketball in Aberdeen than St John's does playing Big East basketball in NYC or USC playing Pac-10 ball in LA. There is something to be said for being the only game in town.

  7. The UND men were on my flight from MSP to Bozeman on Monday morning- apparently they flew to MSP- then to Bozeman- then rode a bus for the last 210 miles to Missoula- probably a cost saving measure- but I am sure it made for a pretty long day of travel

  8. Get used to it. And if you do get a home/home, make sure they come to your place first. Off the top of my head, I can think of only Mississippi Valley State who we've completed a home/home with. I can't remember if Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston, Nicholls State, and Northwestern St. were home/homes or guarantee games. From the standpoint of getting good teams to come to your place, it's not much different than DII. This year's NDSU schedule looked a lot like the DII days (with the exception of Wyo of course); two easy guarantee games with a tough non-conference schedule.

Completed home/homes (Il St/WIU in 07 were home/homes started before NDSU joined MVFC)

    NW St

    SFA

    Nicholls St

    MVSU

    Weber St

Home and homes to be completed.. NDSU owes SHSU a game, Georgia Southern owes NDSU a game... and it is still not clear whether Montana St will return their game

    road guarantee games SIU

home guarantee games (FCS only) Peay, CCSU, N'easter

  9. Do you know if we will be playing an eleven or twelve game schedule next year? Also, do you know if either Weber or SFA might be a home and home at least?

12 game schedules for FCS are only allowed in years when due to the way the calendar falls there is an "extra Saturday" between labor day and thanksgiving

teams which play at Hawaii are also allowed an extra game

  10. So...

    TAMKU+SCSU+LACROSSE = Weak non-conference schedule

    but

    BYE+SCSU+BYE = Incredibly hard schedule

Is that what he is saying?

I am guessing he is meaning playing the TAMU Aggies and UW Badgers instead of TAMUK and UW-Lacrosse

  11. I have no idea how Sagarin's computer rankings work, but it's amazing to me that he has UND at #22 among all FCS schools considering our schedule so far.

Sagarin only counts games against DI teams- therefore in his eyes UND is "0-0" this year. I don't know how he set your preseason rating (which would be your current rating) as well. Generally after 5 games/weeks the major rankings- sag, massey etc, are based entirely off the current season's results.

  12. Can always rely on you, HS. That number, while not bad, is a little irritating. Maybe the night games is the way to go???

I am guessing the "Free Military" Promotion UND had last week (Military ID's could get you 3-4 free tickets) probably helped attendance,

  13. Kelley, who took over for Charles Kupchella in June, is elevating Greg Weisenstein, provost and vice president of academic affairs, to the No. 2 position, in charge of the campus when the president is away.

Phil Harmeson, vice president for general administration, will go back to the College of Business and Public Administration, where he holds tenure as associate professor. Kelley will personally take over his responsibilities over the athletics department and affirmative action program.
