  1. Do most UND fans not realize that every game is sold out or nearly sold out at the FargoDome?

    There is little to be gained financially for NDSU to play UND, wanting the game to be played for other reasons is just fine, but don't continue to use the financial gain argument it doesn't hold water.

    11/27/10 playoff game (first playoff game over 20 if in not mistaken) NDAC versus Robert Morris had 12,202 people show up....not a sellout. One hour up the road UND non-conference game had 11,742 versus Notre Dame in hockey....more than a sellout.

  2. The question is why? The betty is going to be a fine basketball arena for UND for a long time (larger bleachers on the ends could boost capacity to about 4,000)....and when UND hosts a larger venued team they can play in the Ralph...or the Alerus for that matter....I watched the Timberwolves play in the Alerus...it was a fine set up for basketball.

    Playing basketball in the old REA, if you ask me, is not a good long term solution for UND basketball.

    When i was at the NJIT mens game I was thinking of ways they could get more seating in the Betty. Just wondering if the current "storgage area" at the Betty would accomodate larger risers in the endzones of teh Betty (kind of like the people that designed the storage at the Alerus for the old turf)? Also how high can you go before you have to worry about safety with those taller risers? Sidenote: are they gonna totally redo the court for next year or just sand down the sioux name?
  3. Anyone been to cal poly for a game? I have been. I've seen more intensity at Bismarck high football games.

    For Cal-Poly, Southern Utah, Cal-Davis and UND those "high intensity conference" games of the Great West (i'm sure you remember those great games in the fargodome too) are over and a new era is starting on those campuses this fall and its called the Big Sky Conference era. Enjoy the "high intensity" of the Gateway and the NCC 2.1.

    now back to recruiting talk...think coach luke earned his money this year?

  4. its tough to explain the home/away record considering that most games in gf are pretty quiet with almost no student section that playing on the road would be not much of a factor? the njit crowd was slightly better than some games (i was there) and teh chicago game (didnt get to) looked even better?

    hopefully antwi keeps getting some more mins and knock down some shots to go with his good d...yes the big to take a dribble away from their opponent and do a skip pass to the open shooter for the open three.

  5. To get to SUU you have to fly into Vegas and take a two hour bus trip just to get there. Besides that there are no schools near SUU, so you fly in there for one game and then fly out. So yes SUU is in the middle of nowhere compared to current Summit members.

    Everyone is ecstatic to be rid of that school, SUU was nothing but a burden on the budgets of Summit League schools and nobody was excited to watch their schools play mediocre SUU teams.

    I could do the same with Big Sky btw..Flagstaff, Cheney, Bozeman, Missoula, Greeley, etc. Whoever said that the Big Sky and Summit were similar leagues was right.

    So for an 18-22 year old flying into Las Vegas (and maybe spending the night there before or after the game) is a bad thing? Maybe pick up a game against NAU and check out the Grand Canyon on the way (compare that to a trip to Allendale and check out the deserted Pontica Silverdome?)

    Mediocre teams? Football team beat UNLV pretty easily this year and if i'm not mistaken their bball team has just as many trips to the national tournament as the AC? Their recuriting will be much improved recuriting to the Big Sky instead of the industrial NCC 2.0 (soon to be 2.1 with St Cloud and 2.2 with Grand Valley State).

    You can't with a straight face compare Flagstaff, Bozeman, Missoula, Greeley, Cheney, or Cedar City with the above mentioned NCC 2.0 cities can you?

  6. USD is terrible, not sure what happened to that program but wow I didn't realize they were that far behind the other Dakota schools in the Summit. I'm not sure their coach has what it takes to turn it around.

    SUU is the same team they always are, mediocre. I think most Summit schools will just be happy to lose that horrendous road trip to the middle of nowhere.

    Fort Wayne = nowhere

    Rochester (MI i think but not sure) = nowhere

    Tulsa = nowhere

    Vermillion = nowhere

    Macomb = nowhere

    Fargo = nowhere

    Omaha = nowhere

    Brookings = nowhere

    St. Cloud = soon to be nowhere

    The NCC 2.0= nowhere league?

  7. good crowd up til half of the mens game...but does anyone know why the bleacher seats were removed last night? temporary or permanent move? also does anyone know is the main bleachers can be moved or pulled down closer to the court...the first row is so far away from the court?

  8. am i the only one who thinks this game should have been played at hyslop? to only get to practice at rea once this week is totally unacceptable...they could have the floor moved into hyslop weeks ago and been practicing their since...if im not incorrect hyslop sits maybe 6 or 7k? so it would be totally packed and hyslop hysteria would back and it would be so loud the asbestos would be raining down on the court.

    hey nd1acfan...marshall bjorklund? r u serious?

  9. anyone know if jones or faison is doing a 2-1 to schedule a "bigger" named school to come here like the AC did with Fresno?

    also i think jones needs to start w/ one point guard and go with him whether its webb or anderson...like they say about a football team "if you have two quarterbacks, you don't have one"

    starters?

    anderson/webb

    huff

    goodman

    mitchell

    brekke

    or

    webb/anderson

    huff

    mitchell

    brekke

    wilmer

  10. small correction...the people of grand forks own the alerus. randy newman is the ceo of alerus i think and if someone could find his email we could get some emails going to him...also could someone with the knowhow find the naming rights agreement and see if it says anything about having to have the in your face alerus logo all over the turf?

  11. If we don't represent our conference by placing Big Sky logos on the 25s, I'll be very upset. Schools much more likely to realign before us display them (e.g. Montana, Montana State). With all the glamour talk about the Big Sky, I find it slightly hypocritical to say we shouldn't display Big Sky logos because we may realign soon after. Here is what I hope UND decides on:

    This is 100% what the new field should look like. I have a bad feeling that the in-your-face ugly Alerus logo is gonna be plastered all over the new turf!! btw you should send in another pic for the new floor in the Betty...its not that bad as the alerus but it needs some help...
  12. if 6k is all might as well have it at hyslop...there is absolutely no home court advantage to playing in the ralph if only 6 or 7k people show up...the meltdown at the ralph was the worst game in the transition years that i have been to.

  13. anyone know how tix sales are going for the ndsu game? still kind of wish it was in the betty with maybe higher bleachers in the endzones for more seating...but if they get less than ten grand in the ralph it will be a waste...better not be A MELTDOWN AT THE RALPH PART TWO

  14. Am I the only person that would rather have the Sioux go on road and play a FBS team and make some money and hopefully upset them and make a few dollars for the athletic department also instead of infiling that canceled CA game with someonlke like Minot or Montana Western again? Same thing for the Mines game? Go on the road somewhere West and make some money, get some exposure and maybe pull off an upset?
