Just show's how far this team has come under Bubba, in a short amount of time, that we can have these kinds of expectations. This wouldn't have even been a conversation 5 years ago.

toe to toe were our expectations in the past...

No, you were talking about the size of broadcast markets. I was pointing out that both teams have a similar sized broadcast market.

no i said tv's turned to whatever channel the sioux are playing on...i said nothing about market size...when und is on tv alumni, fans, and casual fans turn it on and in much much larger numbers than the purple cow u fans.

By that logic then UND shouldn't be in NCHC, it's located in a town of around 50,000 and can draw on some from the surrounding area, the majority of Hockey games are broadcast for the most part via a local cable company "Midco", some games are on FSN or FCS depending on the opponent. Mankato is a town of around 50,000 people and draws from the surrounding area, a good number of the games are available up in the twin cities. The games are broadcast mostly by a local cable company "Charter" communications and some games are on FSN or FCS depending on the opponent, Furthermore both schools offer games via online streaming via their respective leagues, which I think will eventually replace traditional broadcast for most of the college sports. They look pretty similar from broadcast perspective.

to compare the ardent following of fighting sioux hockey to the purple cows is laughable...

Did they cgi Ratelle's arms onto Santiago here?! Looking YUGE!

wouldn't it be funny if the guys were posing like the girls and visa versa?

  7. i don't care how fast their d-men were last year...their style of play has nothing to do with them getting in or not...whether you like it or not tv's are what will get a school into the nchc...and mankato aint one of them.

UNLV is not going D1 anytime soon.  This "delay" in announcement is because the athletic directors don't get together until August and the presidents don't get together until early September.  The NCHC, just like all of the other conferences can't unilaterally make decisions to add.  The membership gets together and discusses those options.  They talked about it in Florida but had made no decisions at the time.

yes unlv will add d1 hockey soon...very soon...they want in the pac10 and getting in on the ground floor with asu and or ua strengthens its cause for future membership

Yeah? Notre Dame was never a member of the NCHC, so why would they be mentioned?

just saying that it was probably a lot like the show survivor...western was always in the mix from the beginning but alliances were formed and then they were on the outside looking in and just had to prove that they were serious about hockey. same thing with notre dame...they probably said they were in til the end and then when the vote came they walked away.

    From the league website:

" The motivation for forming this new conference came as the landscape of college hockey began to change in the spring of 2011. When Penn State University announced it was starting a college hockey program in the spring of 2011, the Big 10 hockey conference was created. The seismic shift sent ripples throughout the college hockey world and left many institutions searching for stability. On July 13, 2011, the leaders from six schools, Colorado College, the University of Denver, Miami University, the University of Minnesota Duluth, the University of Nebraska Omaha and the University of North Dakota announced the decision to start their own conference beginning in the 2013-14 academic year. On Sept. 22, 2011, St. Cloud State University and Western Michigan University accepted invitations and the NCHC grew to its current membership of eight teams."

and you believe this?  no mention of notre dame in here so its a little shady as to who the original "members" were...western was always in but got a little cold feet about how the nchc was requiring them to spend on hockey to be "serious" in the nchc...

  11. i think this delay/announcement by the nchc is for unlv to get their stuff together...nchs is holding spot ten for unlv and has a side agreement with asu that they already have the ninth spot...or seventh and eighth if western and miami leave in a couple of years..
