During pre-game warmups, my wife asked if I wanted to go grab a slice of pizza. I said no. Wrong decision. She met Boeser out in the concourse while getting her snack. Oh, and then she got NCHC fan of the week.

That late major reminded me of New York City against BC. We were up 2-0 late in the second period when Rhett Gardner took a dumb face masking penalty and got a 5 and game. BC tied it up but we got a late game goal and empty netter if memory serves.

Is Thoreson a modern day Aaron Marvin? Or perhaps a Joey Abate or Connor Caponi.

I’m late to the party here but about that butt ending. Dumb penalty no doubt about it but it didn’t look like he hit the Husky all that hard but maybe it doesn’t matter? Anyone know the rule on that?

So I’m out of the loop a bit on FCS football. Can someone bring me up to speed on any gossip regarding the state of the conference? Is there talk of some teams leaving/coming to the Missouri Valley?

Could Thoreson be today’s version of Joey Abate or Connor Caponi? Smaller in stature yet out there to try hurting people.

I thought Thoreson’s goal was a helluva a goal too. Too bad he ruined it when he acted like a total d*ck skating by the UND bench and chirping the players. But, that’s his M.O., which dates back to his highschool playing days so we shouldn’t expect anything less from him.

Did espn at least comment that St. Cloud still lost the game?

I didn’t catch much of the game but sounds like we didn’t play our A game. That said, I’ll take an ugly win over a pretty loss any day of the week. Hopefully the guys play a better game as you know the Huskies will be playing desperation hockey tomorrow.

I highly recommend you check out Schlossman and Feldy’s most recent UND hockey podcast, “A Sweep of the Beavers.” Towards the back end of the discussion, they scout St. Cloud and have a conversation about the recent news of St. Cloud shrinking their ice sheet a little bit as well as the history of Olympic sized ice sheets and how smart UND was not to join the fad of the 90’s when building the Ralph. Interesting how 6 teams in the WCHA played on at or near Olympic sized sheets (Wisconsin’s was 200x97). Smart of UND to build an Olympic sheet for practicing purposes back in the day too.

Schlossman and Feldman keep talking about how cold it is/was in the Sanford Center. But they don’t give any context. Is it simply a cold arena? -It’s not an old barn so don’t know why it would have temperature issues. Schloss said he brought a space heater along on the trip to Bemidji.

I would like to see what CC and Denver do with Air Force and an east coast school. Maybe have two teams from outside the NCHC and CCHA come in and play one game each against UND and Bemidji. Maybe get a Hockey East and a Big Ten or more realistically, an Atlantic Hockey league opponent. This year, CC and Denver each took turns playing a game against Air Force and Bentley. World beaters? -No. But unfamiliar foes, at least with Bentley which I like. And I prefer when CC only has to play Air Force once rather than a two game series.

I can’t believe I’m admitting this, I found myself pulling for the Gophers. Now, I need to go shower for saying that.

Rough overseas trip for RIT. They didn’t score a single goal.

Drew Montgomery left the game in the first period after taking a hit to the head by a Providence player and never returned.

Great game. CC played much better compared to last night. Wasn’t a full win but I bet they’ll gladly take it.

Frank Serratore said it best following an Air Force game up at Denver and falling victim to some home cookin’ and poor officiating… “There’s three things I’ve never seen in my life. I’ve never seen Big Foot, I’ve never seen the Easter Bunny, and I’ve never seen a referee say he had a crap game.”

Is there any real formal accountability for the officials? I know every fan of their respective sport thinks that their league’s officials are the absolute worst in all of college sports-my best buddy is a Texas Tech alum and says the Big Twelve officials in football are the absolute worst-but I hope that coaches have the ability to submit what they feel are questionable calls/non-calls to the director of officials following a series for additional review and potential training opportunities.

In other CC news, not sure if any of you had heard but last Saturday night at the CC/DU game, right before they were about to line up for the national anthem, the players were all skating around in their respective ends when Klavs Veinbergs lost an edge at the blue line and went crashing into RoCCi the CC mascot who was standing at center ice, waving this big CC flag. He knocked RoCCi over so hard, their head flew off and the poor girl fell and hit her head on the ice. She had to be helped off the ice by the officials. She’s ok though but had to have several stitches in her head.
