Exaggerate much? Actually not really. You spew a constant stream of negativity on just about everything that happens. Have the last two seasons gone poorly? Yes, yes they have. I have been as critical as just about anyone on here, particularly when it comes to the total mismanagement of the offense, the choice of offensive coordinator, and the struggle of the special teams. However, recruiting season is a time to look forward, to try to find some optimism. We got no big name at a QB but we got one that appears to be a project that might pan out. We have a new offense and a new offensive coordinator to try and generate some excitement and success on that part of the ball, and we got some pretty nice recruits in this class, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. Except according to you we struck out on everything and we are destined to be the bottom of the barrel, might as well disband the team and get rid of the program.

When have you ever considered anything a success regarding this program? Seriously, you have got to be one of the biggest negative nancies I have ever seen.

Berry with top talent and well-developed players from the Hakstol days dominated all the way to the national championship. Berry's system can work with the right players and talent. Problem i see is that UND is filled with 3rd and 4th liners, some 2nd liners, and a strong lack of any top line guys. Either the recruiting has gone bone dry or this coaching staff is failing to develop players.

There were times watching the Rudolph offense that I almost had a suspicion that he was intentionally sabotaging his own offense. I mean, the guy got hired as a FCS coordinator, surely he couldn't be that bad, it must be intentional right?
-
With this team I wouldn't bet against that 9%

To me, QB is wide open, especially going into a new offensive philosophy. If we are going to spread things out more, Boltman might be a good option with his ability to run. Spring/fall will be important to get "the guy" into that spot. Agree with the concern regarding nose. Nothing has been down to address the loss there really.

You realize that Lincoln Riley is an offensive coach? He's the head coach and his defensive coordinators haven't been up to snuff. But he's the one calling plays for the offense, the one that created the offense Oklahoma is running, and his offense has been setting records all year. NFL teams are drooling over his potential as an OC. Oklahoma's defense has no impact on his compatibility with the NFL.

Jones is still coaching here because he's cheap. That's got to be the only reason.

Good in practice?

Can you imagine if Santiago would have had 4 years of not having to run into 8-9 man stacked boxes?

Just saw a replay of the Saturday game and holy crap are the Duluth color guys just complete homers. On the Wolff hit, that was blatant contact to the head, he launches into the hit, and he leads shoulder to head, and the color guys are defending that? Had that hit been given by a UND player, they would have been screaming for the cops to get involved due to assault.

Can we bring Hak back yet?

Thome was laying on the puck, clearly under him, UMD guy pulls up his arm with a stick to get the puck loose. At what point is the ref supposed to blow the whistle?
-
Just so you know, it's now ok to hack away at the goalie while he's laying on the puck

Weston was one of the best route runners UND has ever had and he knew how to find and sit in a defensive zone. I have a feeling he'd be an exceptional coach if he decided to make the switch.

Nothing but shotgun spread with 4 verticals, every play.

I also think it will be a good game for Danny to get his toes wet calling plays. Obviously we should be superior with athletes alone, but we've seen how the offense has performed against these non-scholly teams in the past under Rudy.
-
How hard do you think it was for Danny the last couple years to bite his tongue with playcalling and scheme?
-
I really like the spread offense that retains the power run. Look at the Oklahoma offense, they run this about as well as it can be run.
-
In modern football, the quarterback is the linchpin of the offense, one of only two players guaranteed to touch the ball on each offensive play (barring unusual formations/trick plays), so they should be the focus of the offensive scheme. It really doesn't matter what kind of offense you run, you need competence behind center. Danny really said all the right things on being promoted and I think was intended to distance himself from Rudy's philosophy and give some confidence to all the fans whose morale has been destroyed. A plus is that he has seen a scheme and playcalling philosophy that was terrible. He knows what he should not do. He's also seen some of what a dynamic passing attack can do in his time with Mussman. I have confidence in him that he'll be much more flexible and dynamic with offensive scheme, hopefully he can also bring better playcalling and ability to make adjustments in game. As for why Danny wasn't given the shot towards the end of the season, that rests solely on Bubba. Bubba is loyal, quite literally to a fault. He stuck with Rudy when he should have been gone last year. When the offense nose-dived towards the end of the season Rudy should have been dismissed during the season and Danny given a test run. But Bubba's loyalty to the staff is solely to blame. I don't know if it's an old-school philosophy of sticking with a guy the whole season, or if he just kept thinking Rudy might suddenly change, I really don't know but it's without doubt that not making the change hurt the whole program.

At this point, for this team, just win. Doesn't matter if it's ugly or barely beating an inferior opponent, just win.

Something that doesn't help our receivers is the defense knowing that the routes UND runs are between 5-20 yards in general. There's very little deep threat that we posed late in the season. When Adeoti went down, the deep passing game mostly died out. Maag gave a bit of that and then hurt himself going deep. We never tried pushing downfield with McKinney, he was mostly utilized on jet sweeps.
-
This is what gets me. How could you sell Rudy's offense to WR's or QB's? You're behind the grain. Then the scheme further hurts our ability. We pass on obvious passing downs, we pass into double and triple coverage, and we don't use schemes to put coverage into disadvantage.

By gum! Someone that gets the joke! Oh blessed day <goes home to cry tears of joy>
