  1. Any injury report on the Huskers? Curious to know how they came out of their game on Saturday.
  2. True, just meaning the Valley tends to be extra physical in that area. Only team that can get away with a one pony stable is Cal Poly and the legendary Joe Protheroe.
  3. In the Valley, you better hope you have more than 1 solid RB. These guys get beat up and wore down. Every team needs a committee if they want to be successful. Now if you have a committee because nobody stands out, then I agree. Sounds like we have multiple guys that stand out and that is a recipe for success on the ground.
  4. Yeah, maybe not so much designed runs, but certainly needs to be aware when there is 15 yards of open field in front of him and he needs 5 or 6. I don't expect him to be running the Brockstar formation, but it is more awareness than ability.
  5. Absolutely, by no means am I saying a 2 QB system works. Just calling out what is needed for it to be efficient every game. At this point I don't really think team have to prepare much for 2 QBs as you know primarily what they will be asked to do when they are in their. Both need to expand their skills sets and their game mentality before it really makes opponents uncomfortable. I certainly hope they can do this because I would like to see Tommy run more and more effectively and I would like to see Q throw more and more accurately. We will see what happens.
  6. Stud may not have had the raw talent of Tommy but he was a tough SOB. Not that he didn't have tools but he definitely didn't have what Tommy does. If he had, and had not been stuck with Rudy, who know what he could have done. He sure made some great throws in that comeback win against N. AZ to win the Big Sky.
  7. Call it what you want ... gimmick, smoke and mirrors, etc. I think its utilization really comes down to IF Tommy can run AND Quincy can throw. Without that you lose unpredictability and without unpredictability you lose effectiveness. If Quincy can come in on short yardage and consistently have a 15 -20 yard throw in the mix, and Tommy can pick up 6-7 yard first down runs periodically then this could work. Defenses have typically know how to prepare for the QB changes because our QBs have been limited to their strengths. Have they expanded on those? I sure hope so.
  8. This!
  9. Safe to say that if we can't outperform this poll, we need to seriously reevaluate this program. Given how close we were in so many games last year with only improved experience and depth in "most" areas, we should appear much further along. Have to prove ourselves in the thought process, but finish outside the top 25 and miss the playoffs and I have some serious questions. Personally, I think we will end the season in a good place, but I'm always optimistic this time of year.
  10. Take the bickering to a different thread, this is about 2022 UND football. McFooly is an antagonist. Even a NDSU fan should be able to see that. To slight either UND or SDSU indoor practice facilities because they have a indoor track is pure stupidity. Why wouldn't you build a facility to be as efficient as possible. and Yes, NDSU has also done a nice job with several of their facilities, I can't imagine Tom Miller getting on the radio and saying anything otherwise. As for Hockey, of course UND is going to put their focus on that. It may be a niche sport, but it has been very successful and very profitable for the UND. Does that mean every school should have it? No, and while I love seeing college hockey expand, having it some be so large bring some of the charm to it; you really get to know some of the other programs. My personal opinion, I would love to see NDSU have hockey. I think it would be a great immediate rivalry game and as we have seen with other new programs, there is potential for early success. Though that isn't going to happen and that's. Now can we stop the pissing match about irrelevant crap and get back to UND's Fall season?
  11. Sounds like Romfo is just outplaying him. Nice to see Romfo step up, but disappointing if Feeney is looking average after sounding like such a big recruiting get and having time in the program. That being said Feeney still has plenty of time in this program to develop and grow into a great player. I know I was really impatient with Quincy right away as well. He was this big kid with some nice recruiting accolades and switch to UND from Old Dominion. He has had his flashes, but certainly had his flaws. Sounds like he has had some nice moments in practice this Fall though and hopefully his contributions will continue. I get the saying of if you have two QBs, you don't have any. Though Tommy and Quincy have such opposite styles I feel like you can use them as you need against different defenses and situationally. I still think one of my favorite Quincy snap was a 3rd or 4th and 1. Everyone in the building though Q was going to push it up the middle and instead there was a shovel pass or a handoff to Skokna who took it to the sideline and burned the defense for big yardage. I don't think I've seen that play run since.
  12. I've been reading all of Tom Miller's practice summaries, along with the UNDFootball360 position group reviews and they are definitely getting me excited for the season. I've never though Tom was overly optimistic about the UND Football team. Not in a bad way, I think he just tries to me more realistic than fans and doesn't view the season with hope and kelly green glasses in his reporting. This season he seem a little more positive in his writeups .... not necessarily from his own perspective, but it just sounds like there have been a lot of positives to talk about at camp. Malachi Butler's name keeps popping up and could be a critical piece for us. Red Wilson sounds like he is going to be a really exciting player and a fan favorite if he is as flashy as he sounds. Glad to hear Schuster has been solid, though I'd love to hear about some long throws to go with the short ones. I wasn't sure what to expect from Elijah Klein, but he sounds like he is really impressing. Hoping the coaches use him effectively with high fades to the corner of the end zone and some back shoulder throws. We say it every year, but there seems to be plenty of talent on this roster. Looking at how close we were in so many games last year and adding another year of experience (and hopefully some better coaching decisions) I'm feeling pretty positive about the season. Would love to see a breakthrough year for UND football!
  13. Seriously wtf?!?! Bubba needs to improve his recruiting and focus on kids who have their priorities straight. Kids with real values who are focused who have some morals. I’m sick of this kids who just quit on their team. Football!!!!! please sense the sarcasm before you respond … I was excited about Pierre since we recruited him, but clearly he is a very bright young man who is focused on the big picture. Best of luck to this kid and thank you for your contribution to the program!
  14. I'd put MVJ as a player who could really step up as well. Though splitting snaps with Cooper could limit him a bit.
  15. Anyone know when the 360 guys start up? I’m getting pretty anxious for some football updates!
  16. Once again, its a message board. Just putting my thoughts out there, kind of sad that you had to scan through and link them all .... but no, I don't care enough to go research Title IX any further. Thanks for your interest though.
  17. Why would I look it up, I just said I don’t care that much about it. How dare someone ask a question on a message board. Quit bein an a-hole.
  18. You must have misinterpreted how much I actually care about it. But your smart a$s comment is appreciated.
  19. I think he is saying it’s a bad situation regardless of what you do. Rock and a hard place …. Bad no matter what.
  20. Yeah, I'm betting if Bubba could do it all over Otis wouldn't have come back after the grades issue. Hindsight is 20/20.
  21. Agreed, I don't know how Title IX or the proceedings work. Thats why I had asked about it. I understand its not a media circus in the courts, but thanks.
  22. fair enough
  23. I'm not saying you have to discuss the specifics of Otis. I would think you could discuss your general approach as a coach though. Its not as though coaches have never commented on players or punishments in the past. Isn't this precisely why you have legal and PR departments?
  24. Makes sense to not open yourself up to legal issues, but without clearing you name or involvement the stink will follow Bubba around, even if he did nothing. I also don't know what legal issues would arise from that. I don't believe there is a legal obligation to bench a player during an investigation. Had he played him after the outcome of the investigation, that would be different. So to me, it really comes down to, what did he know and what was he ok. As @iramurphy said, "Its none of our business" ..... though in today's world of social media and immediate public reaction (and overreaction), it doesn't really matter if it is our business or not. People for opinions based on limited information and run with it, and like it or not those opinions have the internet as a platform and can cause damage. If it were me, I'd want my name clear rather than letting rumors linger. Would something like this be so bad? If they can't say that honestly, then maybe there was some sketchy decision making going on? Our decisions with Otis and his playing time were based on the limited information we received. With the information available to us at the time, we were comfortable with Otis participating in all team activities. As more information was made available, the AD and myself adjusted our approach and as everyone is aware, Otis is no longer a part of the UND Football program. Due to the sensitivity of the matter, I cannot provide additional details, but can assure you that under no circumstances would a player be allowed to participate with this program if it was determined they had taken part in the types of acts described in this case. My only question on some of this, is how does this get handled by the University and a Title IX investigation, but not by the authorities?
  25. I don't disagree with Dan here. This isn't Bison/UND rivalry crap. I said in a different post, If he or the University did nothing wrong, then there is nothing to hide. And maybe they did nothing wrong here. He could have been allowed to play, based on limited information, or behind closed doors conversations where it was determined he could play until the outcome of the investigation was complete. Get the AD and the Coach together with the PR department and figure out how to handle the situation. To me, ignoring it or staying completely silent on it, just makes you look worse, but maybe that's just me. I would think there is a middle ground between not saying anything and having a full blown press conference open to questions.
