  1. I'm sure the coaches will say it will come down to who performs best in camp and practice, but I don't think they would have brought him in if they didn't expect him to win the #2 spot. Definitely a good piece to the puzzle. Happy to know that if something happens to Keaton, we are not fully relying on what we currently have on the roster.
  2. Nice call
  3. Yeah, I think a player can talk it up a bit to the opposing fans, as long as he does it tactfully. I think he was jabbering with some fans on twitter too, which wouldn't be an issue, but that stuff is all so magnified these days. Some folks on bisonville were pissed about him trash talkin the students (of course they were just bitter about the loss). Some folks basically said, Crandall and UND just curb stomped the Bison, he can say what he wants. Like crandall said, better to talk to the fans, than the players and refs. No fouls needed. I hope he gets the student section jacked up tomorrow night. Hopefully we see the football team there; they are always fun to watch.
  4. Yeah, we won't hold you to it, if you are wrong. Well, we might, but tell us anyway.
  5. Agreed, recruiting rankings are pretty imprecise, because you never know if a kid will develop the way you hope. Signing day is great, because everyone is happy with their recruiting class. Truth is, you never know how good it is for another 2-3 years. Even so, it is fun to see who we get, and what the potential is (kind of the same as why the NFL draft is fun). Ranking aside, I think we can all see that recruiting classes have gotten better each year under Bubba. Coaches and facilities are big factors. Winning is one of the biggest though, and aside from that frustrating loss to Richmond, the team had a great year and won the Big Sky. Winning is certainly a factor for these kids. Exciting times for UND.
  6. Might be the most ridiculous thing I've hear. Though according to 247 all three hold offers from SDSU, UNI, Wyoming Campbell and Lofton both have offers from NDSU, but Mafe does not. Both also have offers from Montana State, but Mafe does not. These kids need to open their eyes a bit. You would think taking some of these recruiting trips would do that. Primary goal should not be to play with your HS buddies. All these kids could have good football careers. Hopefully they each go to the school that is right for them. http://247sports.com/Recruitment/Boye-Mafe-95018/RecruitInterests http://247sports.com/Recruitment/Deyon-Campbell-85672/RecruitInterests http://247sports.com/Recruitment/Malik-Lofton-92701/RecruitInterests
  7. Interesting, he is listed as a RB on the wiki.
  8. HERO Sports actually said we were putting together one of the top FCS recruiting classes in the nation, and that was in October. http://herosports.com/news/north-dakota-recruiting-adds-next-stars-fcs-college-football
  9. Any news on Boye Mafe? I read on here that he had made a trip to Grand Forks for a visit, not sure if that actually happened or if it was just speculation. 247 still says he has not committed.
  10. I'm sure there is a way to show that Spartans are hostile and abusive, so convince him to be a Hawk.
  11. Would it be too much to hope for Flowers?
  12. So is this yet another commit? Or on of the two that were already mentioned?
  13. hahaha, its all good! Totally agree with you though
  14. Not necessarily. Q knew he wasn't hitting anything, so he started moving the ball around. If he starts hitting shots, then he is scoring points instead of the other guys he was dishin the ball to.
  15. So Rettig starts next year, Keaton redshirts, Boltman redshirts, Keaton plays the following season and Boltman then comes in much more prepared. jk, I know this doesn't happen. I expect Keaton to have a big year next year. Hopefully with a full cast of Mercer, Georges, Toivenen, Wanzek and McKinney to throw to. Give Santiago some time at WR. Oliveira, Gordon, Johanneson in the backfield.
  16. Solid post. Makes sense to me. Kids choose different schools for different reasons all the time. Not just athletes either. When I visited UND in high school, it just clicked that was where I wanted to go. I'm sure some athletes just step onto a campus and get that same feeling. Hopefully the decision works out for him.
  17. Think he plays next year?
  18. Well that is a tear jerker of an article. Hope everything works out for this kid, on and off the field. Sounds like he had made several good decisions in life, without much guidance on which path to take. Also sounds like he could be a big time role model for his nephew. Very excited to see how his career plays out. On the football field, I really hope we see him as a slot receiver. We're deep at RB, and this kid could be the burner type of WR we have been missing. Anyone know if he would expect to play next year? Not sure how that works with a kid starting school mid-year. It'll definitely get him up to speed quickly. I'd assume he plans to stick around through the summer as well.
  19. I won't disagree with ya on that. For as many good fans as there are, there are some really terrible ones. People who basically think if you aren't ranked #1 then you are a terrible football team. Not a fan of that kind of thinking. There are plenty of really good team not called NDSU.
  20. Not disagreeing that NDSU fans have crossed that line, but I have also seen UND fans at the Ralph screaming at Gopher fans, and actually making little kids cry. Point being is that ever fan base has people, that the majority of the fanbase wishes didn't represent them. Unfortunately for everybody, it is usually the worst kind of fans that represent a fan base the loudest (same reason so many schools hate UND in hockey; we have some obnoxious fans too).
  21. A home game against the top team in the country ..... why would they buy out? (Yes, that was intended as UND being the top team )
  22. I may be a little bias the other way, because I have family that are huge Bison fans, and I try to get out an tailgate with their group. BUT any time I've been tailgating in Fargo (and I always where my Sioux gear), I'm welcomed with a little friendly ribbing, some free beer, and some football talk. Some wonder when we will join the MVFC conference, because they want the old school rivalries, some can't say enough nice things about Bubba and the direction of UND. Overall, they are fun people; but naturally there are some obnoxious ones. Truth be told, UND has some fans like that as well.
  23. Plenty of UND fans that are the same way. Every school out there has fans like that.
  24. SO in 17, JR in 18, SR in 19 (When we play NDSU)
  25. Now, now, let not be those guys. Largely, as a group, they are actually really fun people. Most of whom have been complimentary of what Bubba has been doin up North. BUT there is definitely an obnoxious vocal minority. Some of that comes with people who are just obnoxious, some comes with winning a ton. Overall their fan base has some really great people, with a few really bad fans.
