  1. Thx for those stats, Goon, he had a better career than I thought. But you would have thought with all the hype he'd have been the next best thing since sliced bread.
  2. Thx for the correction; I was thinking of the actor Actually, he could be back by the first game against UND because the USCHO link says he's "not expected back at least until the team's fourth game of the season and possibly longer." They played Vermont once last weekend, 2 games at a tournament this weekend & then the first game of the Sioux series will be his fourth game. I worded it wrong in my earlier post...
  3. Great job, PCM... Looks like Prpich will be out for the next 2 games...nice comments from the St. Louis Blues...looks like there'll be at least one line that won't be shuffled a lot...don't understand Massen's ebb & flow intensity levels... B.C. senior defenseman & asst. capt. J.D. Farrell is sitting out at least the first 4 games for academic reasons & could possibly miss part of the Sioux series...
  4. I had no idea. What makes you so sure this is the case? (beyond Jason Notermann's dad)...
  5. Bobby Carpenter, phenom from the early '80s, tried to make the transition from high school directly to the NHL. Was supposed to be the 2nd Coming but wound up being a 1st class bust.
  6. If fluency in English were a prerequisite for NHLers, Vanek would probably start skating for the Sabres in 2015...
  7. True, but the vast majority of athletes aren't blessed with superstar talents. An age restriction policy would be protecting the futures of players who may not be ready for the pros, despite what their egos or their poor mothers' needs for a new home may say. For every young guy who leaves early & is a success, there are probably 2, 3 or more similar youngins who aren't. I would have nothing against age restrictions, esp. in hockey
  8. Pretty surprising. Ahead of Jarome Iginla (leading NHL goal scorer a couple years ago, I think), Lecavalier, Thornton...& right behind Marian Hossa. That's really good company...Talk about high expectations, Zach's shoulders must be aching...
  9. I would try to provide some historical context to this issue. Talking about the origins & meaning of political correctness would be a good lead-in to the meat of your speech, the name change controversy. This may help: William S. Lind
  10. He should realize that middle-aged men need their escapism, too. Message boards are healthier & less expensive than Internet porn...so I've been told...
  11. Thanks, PCM! He must have been referring to POI...
  12. Well put...Geez, my wife could regurgitate the same crapola & she knows zilch about the sport...But you can't blame Wooger--what's he supposed to say? "Tech & UAA should challenge for 1 & 2." Most astute coll. hockey fans already know what to expect & these "predictions" only benefit those new to the game or who are waking from a coma... Love your anti-Franken avatar...he had an argument with Bill O'Reilly on national t.v. (C-Span) earlier last summer when they were promoting their new books...O'Reilly worked him like Prpich worked Peluso...it was funny because the 2 can't stand each other...
  13. Sorry, "From the horse's big mouth."
  14. From the horse's mouth: "A player who receives a disqualification penalty in any game (including exhibition games) shall not be permitted to play in the team's next played regular-season or tournament game against an NCAA member institution. Exhibition games cannot be used to fulfill the disqualification penalty." ncaa rules
  15. This is a surprise. I always thought USCHO was more impartial; they definitely have more interesting features & a bigger menu of options for its users than INCH, imo.
  16. What a prophet! The Wooger amazes us again with his brilliant, insightful analysis of the upcoming season. Wonder if it's the excessive alcohol that makes him clairvoyant?
  17. Thx for making my Monday a little brighter Seems weird...getting a fighting DQ, playing the very next game & sitting out the following game...
  18. Regarding the NCAA rule "Mad Man" showed us: It says DQs are called regardless of the type of game, but says nothing specific about how they are to be served. It makes sense that if they can call a DQ during a meaningless exhibition game (ala Schneider 2 years ago), that a player can sit out during a meaningless exhibition game (Prpich last night). Wouldn't make sense (to me) if Prpich is allowed to play against Concordia. That's like saying...we're playing 2 exhibition games back-2-back, our player gets a DQ the first night, is allowed to play the following night, but has to sit out the next reg. season game. Paging Johnny Cochran...
  19. Foyt: don't think he played; didn't hear his name announced. Bina: I think he's recovering from a blister or infection on his toe?? (or is this Foyt?) Fabian: a healthy scratch, I believe. Porter: Announcers said his line with Fylling & Lundbohm played the steadiest. Almost had his first Sioux goal but shot high on a wide-open net. Stafford: GWG & announcers tabbed him as their POG. This guy's no illusion. Murray: I think he played a key role in one of the goals & may have gotten an assist when Bochenski scored. Smaby: didn't hear much about him. I probably flubbed a couple of these..Someone who was at the game, like PCM, would know a lot more. BTW... Palmiscno: high ankle sprain-not serious.
  20. I don't want to turn this into a hugfest, but I appreciate your input & updates throughout the game, UMDDogz. It'll be interesting to see how these 2 teams match up when they meet later in the season: they'll be more fluid, conditioned & less likely to make errors. Reichmuth is definitely a gem & is gonna take you places this year; with Mankato & St. Cloud depleted, you guys have a legitimate & likely shot at 3rd, I think.
  21. I'm happy for the guys as it got them started off on the right foot re: the all-important PWR rankings. Can someone clarify whether or not Prpich will be able to play the first game of the BC series? Hopefully he can sit out the Concordia game...
  22. mksioux, Don't forget to drink plenty of alcohol again in the upcoming weeks..seemed to work tonight..we'll try to make a lush out of you
  23. Announcers saying the Porter-Lundbohm-Fylling line the most consistent tonight & that Stafford probably the most impressive freshman; Stafford also named player of the game...Not too bad for a 17 y/o!! Would like to hear some opinions of those who actually attended the game...It sounded like the score could've been more lopsided as the Sioux missed some golden scoring chances... Sioux not very good on special teams, esp. pp; J. Parise comes up big on a late Bulldog flurry.
