I am thinking that it is a little of each.

Just because they are drafted doesn't mean they are sure things. As much as the sophmore slump has it, I predict Isaac R will go pro after 4 years and may even backstop in the NHL. Someone that good can't go south permanently. In any case, Siouxhockey03, are wrong about UND's recruiting. Taylor Chorney will be on campus in 2005. Next year's recruits are: Luke Beaverson (D), P. Lammareaux (G), Kyle Radke (D), Zajac (F), and maybe Ryan Duncan (F: Rumor has it that he may delay until 2005).

I couldn't believe the goal last Thursday went in. What a fluke, but I'll take it!

Ok, I had this statement cooked up to say about fans and such, but I don't think it is a very flattering statement and it is best left unsaid. But I will say is this: What it comes down to is this: Love the fans who do show up day in and day out, through thick and thin for your team. Respect the people who may not make it to the game but at least make the effort to tune in somehow when it is available. Thank all those who come periodically or only once a year. Don't have to respect them, but they are supporting your team for at least one series or even game a year and that's worth atleast a little.

On an unrelated note, it appears that BC got jealous of big number 2 and got themselves a Matt Greene coming in next fall. No relation I'm sure, but amusing nonetheless. Information is according the Heisenberg (I think that's the name of the site) But I lost the link.

Not sure, but Dave Christian may have been somewhere on the SI cover in 1980 after the Olympics. Other than that, there MAY be a picture of Balfour somewhere. Other than that, it was really decided on USCHO that finding college players on the cover of a major sports mag is not a very common thing.

Which brings us full circle to the Hockey Gladiator event, where PCM can peruse and scout possible "hard nosed protectors."

You can view the guestbook archives, but that's about it

Wish I was here for that although we didn't really do well.

Bad news on that. I mean, first it is a torn ACL. SECOND, it comes in a year which is do or sit out a year. This could not have come at a worse time for Tim.

This is a tangent rant of sorts, but I was wondering why no one has any offense to school names and logos on the seat of sweatpants? I mean, when the school is not good enough for your chest and only good enough for your arse, isn't that saying something? And then you sit down with those pants on... Imagery is all you need folks. Bad idea. The only words on the seat of one's drawers should be a circle with an arrow pointing to it with the words "Kiss here" attached

I disagree. Case in point, the altru ad. If it weren't for the flashing green altru ad, appointments for epilectics and seizures would decrease perhaps up to 25 percent. Pharmacies would complain because they'd have to perscribe less seizure meds as well as less headache meds would be sold. Think of the cascade effect with just that one ad.

We played the Goofs 7 times in 2001-2002?

I think it should be sponsored by the US Navy, US Army, or the Homeland Security Department or perhaps even the NRA. Or Soldier of Fortune. Anything that deals withSHOOTING

MNS- Not really, but I think it should involve the same site. Building a stadium out of the existing structure would be interesting. Get rid of the sail then build out the walls and perhaps renovate and add a retractable roof. I don't know much about stadium construction (Obviously) but I really don't think it is in the best interests of the state and the population to build a stadium the likes of Seattle's for two teams whose fanbase is incredibly fickle and whose ownership is two faced. Remember, folks, Carl volunteered his team for contraction. Do you think a state and its population should be willing to reward Carl's attitude with providing him with a new stadium regardless of how much money he puts into it? Another issue with the stadium contraversy is twofold: 1) presentation. It's all in the presentation. If you put the context for this in such a manner as "Build it or we will leave" people could and have been very negative towards this type of neogtiation tactics. Pick the positive and stick with it throughout and make the state look bad. Eventually it will change. Carl didn't do that. His bad. 2) Timing. Carl started all of this THE YEAR OF THE FLOOD. When people are fighting to keep their HOMES, what possible reason could justify a new stadium over people's homes? No, I think Carl shot his own foot with the stadium issue. People are still sour about that. That's why if a new stadium is to be built, it should be built as one stadium for both teams and Red McCombs should get preferential treatment. Again, as for the Gophers, 1 for 1 parking space replacement at no detriment to the students, faculty, and staff who usually park there as well as a detailed and beneficial package to students who wish to attend the games, and I'd support it. But I do not see any benefits for those who attend UM with the new stadium.

Don't worry. They profess up and down the football forum that no one south of GF cares about hockey in North Dakota. So they probably didn't read the post

I don't know if you will be banned or not, but the least you could do is get the facts straight. Ralph had a stellar HS career and deserved to be on the team. Unfortunately we had a solid goaltender at the time and Ralph did not play much. Regardless, he was treated very well and wished to share his experience with the college he had attended. I am not going to sit here and say that Ralph was a great man or a god, because I did not know him personally, but I respect him for his loyalty to the University despite his values in certain areas. His number was retired because he put down more than 100 million $$$. I think a stupid number is worth it in exchange. Dislike him if you want, but he helped with 2 arenas (New REA and TRF arena) and had something to do with the Old Ralph. He also advocated for the students in their section. Trust me, when he died, the students took a hit.

I think boxing is the main reasons why not to have this. Look at Mike Tyson. Do we need more people like him around? Fights are not as comon as they used to be in hockey so I like them just the way they are now.

I think the state should put money in for it if it is going to benefit the entire community, not if i it is going to benefit just UMD. I would think that it would be nice to have a facility whose function is similar to that of UNO's facility. Of course, a facility that size is not practical for Duluth, but it can be scaled down to fit Duluth. If it had the ability to be converted to handle different functions like basketball games, concerts, conventions, graduationa, hockey, and other special events, I think it would be in the best interest of everyone in the region to fund the arena. Practical expenditure on arenas is always supported. It's BS stadium politics that make me angry. Case in point: Twins and Vikings. Oh yeah, Gophers football stadium.

They are missed, just how much (withholding the beer song and school song) was widely debated. A lot of the complaints were due to the speaker system with the Ralph. It is supposedly top of the line yet we never reap the full wonders of it... until the video during 1st intermission on Saturday. But I don't want to get back into that debate again. I would love to hear that organ work

I really think the band was missed. Gosh, after me advocating standards for the band it was really an odd experience not to have them. As for the music at the Ralph, they don't turn up the music because then some of the public complain about the noise. Case in point: U-18 game. Seemed like half the speakers were on. Also, that was just about the lamest 2nd intermission show I've ever seen at the Ralph. I guess I'm just not much for the Christmas spirit. Bah Humbug. I think Hennan's replacement was alright though his voice doesn't fill the arena like Hennan's does. He also tried unsuccessfully to place the sponsors first instead of the players or the events on the ice. It's never sponsors first game second at the Ralph. Or maybe that's how I think it should be. In fact, I think the reason why our PP has lacked luster is because it is sponsored by a newspaper. I think we need to make changes, so let's have the PP sponsored by Hooters The Herald can sponsor the PK

Nah. I'd say it would have been neat to run the fake point after like they did vs UNA. That would win the game and crush their morale. But if dollars were donuts, we'd all have rich jerks running around wearing badges.

Funny, but I happened to read the article in Northwest Airline's inflight magazine about him and he had nothing bad to say about Duluth or UMD. He did kinda flame Team Canada though... And Norm MacIver would be a pretty good coach too, but Scotty is better.. What am I saying? I want Scotty back! BTW- Bad show for those in the lower bowl who actually booed when Scotty's son came out on the ice to pick up stuff in the Northstar find the phone contest... Although maybe it was booing the dude who found the phone or the contest itself. Who knows. Scotty is a class act, folks. Understudy of Dean Blais. Great recruiter. His son was born in Grand Forks and was instantly adopted by the community only to have him be uprooted to Duluth. I still think he's wearing the wrong jersey but you gotta love the kid regardless. We all know he will grow up and turn into a great hockey player and then shock the Minnesotans by attending UND.
