I think the big story line though is that it took OT to beat the Maple Laffs.

We'll see. If he posts again then he'll be a hypocrit. Oh wait... if we start going on a tear, he'll be back.

And pray the bulb doesn't burn out before you are ready to replace it. I have a regular projector (not the one pictured) and the replacement bulb is $300. My projector is an Epson 83+ (as my school's tech page lists it) and it regularly sells for $580 (or so my school district has us paying). Now, since that is a government entity dictating what we have to purchase (and probably where too), I'm not certain that the bulb or the projector is fairly priced in today's market but.... I looked up the Optoma HD65 replacement bulb and it is at $161 or so. That's almost 25% of the price of the projector. Better than my school's projector, but not much... And yeah, my school is getting ripped off, but that's public schooling and government contracts for you.

That hockey mom is unwatchable. And that hockey dad is pretty bad too.

I agree with this. Par, for me, is this: WCHA top 5 finish (home ice) NCAA berth Strong showing at Final 5 subpar is bottom 6 finish, losing early in the Final 5. Unacceptable is missing the NCAA tourney. And Hak's a great coach. Fans have thrown him under the bus (cliche' dedicated to GBPakrzzz) every season he's been head coach (and even before he was officially in charge) and he's responded nicely. -
Who will the Sioux play in the East next season?

I agree. No offense to Puck Swami but... Come to DU/UND tilt to see tense, high stakes, bitter hockey as both teams hate each other. The action will be spirited, intense, and full of action... however, for those who are diehard, it will be frought with ups and downs and stress while the game is tight (which it will undoubtedly be). There is no love lost between the two fanbases. Come to UMD/UND if you want to have a fun weekend at the Ralph with pretty cool opposing fans. It's a lighter rivalry with the contention between fan bases FAR more friendly. If you came to UND/BSU it would almost be like hanging out at a buddy's house watching the games despite rooting for different teams. And, yeah, I know that wasn't one of your options. I'm just saying. -
True, but I've maintained that there have been a surprising number of late round stars that the NHL has found. For example, Brett Hull, Luc Robitaille, Henrik Zetterberg, Pavel Datsyuk, that Hornqvist kid that plays for Nashville, and there are others.

I agree. I like Chay and all, but my favorite Dman is Blood. He's INCREDIBLY similar to Matt Smaby. Unbelievable. Actually, he's better than Smaby because, though posters have berated his PIMs, by this time, posters were calling for Smaby to be benched. That hasn't happened yet with Blood. And I like Fienhage. The biggest surprise, though, has been Gleason, IMO. I knew he'd be good and all, but I thought Gleason would be the one with extra ice time due to Genoway's injury.

I agree with all but the "sub-par" performance. UMN has had a subpar performance. Michigan, Notre Dame, BU, and perhaps BC have had subpar performances. CC is going subpar... I don't see us as subpar. Not as dynamic, sure, but we're only not clicking in ONE area really. That's hardly subpar. -
Count 'em. You see.... I say DU/CC split, UW sweeps UMN easily, SCSU sweeps MSUM easily, and in a shocker, UMD only gets 2 in Anchorage. Forgive my lack of mathematical foresight, but I don't know where that would put us.
-
Forgive me. I forgot that someone would even think about agreeing with me.

I'd be worried about playing any team with a solid positional goaltender right now. Not because their offense is better than ours or whatever other permutation you'd like to bring up... but because our only real weakness is finishing. We get a TON of chances every game. We did against UMN, DU, UW, Cornell, and so on but we didn't put them away. We heard TH say a lot of "puck bounced over his stick," "whiffed," "hit the post," "great save!," "just wide," "into the breadbasket," etc. this season. And to me, that speaks volumes over whatever crap this team has gone through this year. We're doing REALLY well in almost EVERY facet of the game except untimely penalties (insert your usual Blood-hater banter here ) and finishing. Yes, there are the blown calls aspect but with the number of blown finishing attempts we've had per game, they don't really matter. Doesn't make the officials any less competent (because they aren't), but it is true. Howe is a solid goaltender and if we're not finishing well, then we're going to have trouble winning.

I think it is funny about the goaltending... First off, BE isn't bad. He plays a different style than Dell. Actually, it's sort of hybrid between Dell's more positional stay at home style and JPL and Goehring's aggressive style. That leads me to my second point: It's absolutely FRIGHTENING how similar fan's reactions are to BE when comparing them to what I remember hearing early on in Goehring's time AND JPL and perhaps even JPar! Countless posts about how nervous everyone gets when JPar or JPL come out to handle the puck... same thing when BE comes out to handle the puck. So, in conclusion, I think BE will be just fine. And, when he graduates, the next guy will come in (Gothberg and Dell) and we'll lament on how they are too agressive and etc. Heh.. JPL is a flopper and a diver and we all want him back. Hypocritical in a very amusing way. Now 2 posts will respond to this one: 1. Calls me wrong and explains how Eidsness sucks 2. Calls me wrong and explains that it is somehow different. That's ok. But I'll guarantee you that we'll look back after Eidsness is gone and Gothberg or Dell has a bad game or two and wish Eids was back. Flame away.

IronFist and CornellHockey aside, there WAS one Cornell poster on this board (though, to give the benefit of the doubt, it Might have been UND's hockey blog Brad Schlossman writes as he does get a fair deal of morons commenting on his blog) that made ONE classless post.... I can't remember who, but I could SWEAR it had Lynah in the handle. In any case, I would THINK that opposing posters could come here and, provided they: 1. Understood that this site is PRO-UND in every sense of the word 2. Understood that their team is probably not going to be fawned over that much 3. Treat the posters with respect They could expect to be treated likewise. We've had a ton of non-UND posters here that have come on this board and acted respectful. CornellHockey is one of them along with Sagard, Greyeagle, 31-9, UMD had 2 at one point, MeanEgirl and Puck Swami peeked in occasionally, etc. I guess I'm another "poster guru" but I think that atmosphere would make SiouxSports a better place than the places we cite as being so tasteless.

Actually, the article said "Notre Dakota" Since Notre Dame is in South Bend, IN, I'm supposing Notre Dakota is in North Bend, ND? "I like the big city" and "North Dakota" don't mix. I'm a pessimist I guess, but I don't see this guy coming to UND either.

I dislike DU more than Minnesota. I admit that my sister did go to UMN so I'm partially biased towards their academics (at least their school of business anyways). I also think that Lucia has only said stupid things in the past but has only done so very sparingly. Gwoz does it all the time AND has the ability to manipulate the league and its officials. So, I'll root for the Gophers before I'll root for DU, but I'll root for DU before I'll ever root for an ECACHLMAO or BC team.

Hey, is that lynah fan on suicide watch? They never blew us out. They never dominated, and they stole 2 points.

BE sucks, Blood should be benched, Fire hakstol, etc. etc. Anyone out there going to catch Schafer's post game whine fest?
-
According to Heisenberg, LaFontaine committed to MSUM.
-
Funny but you all are quoting my incomplete post.

I've got the same feeling. Also, since Cornell is getting home ice advantage with the refs, the past two PP where Toews and Malone respectively took penalties... that's going to hurt us too. Too many men on the ice: The most avoidable penalty in hockey.

I have a hard time believing he'll play college hockey. I have him going OHL on my "board"

Because I'm bored, I'll name at least one player that has played or is playing for each NHL Team: Dallas- Hrkac Minnesota Wild - Bombardir Philly - Baron Islanders - Herter Carolina- Bayda Columbus - Commodore LA - Marc Chorney Toronto - Blake/Belfour Chicago - Toews Colorado - Murray Quebec - Hrkac North Stars - Casey Anaheim - Valk Phoenix - David Hale Detroit - Greg Johnson NY Rangers - James Patrick Florida - Lee Goren Vancouver - Ryan Johnson NJ - Zajac/Parise Jets - Joyce Boston - Joyce/Bochenski Washington - Dave Christian STL - Oshie TB - Smaby Nashville - Greg Johnson Pittsburgh - Justin Duberman Buffalo - Stafford/ Dane Jackson California Golden Seals ( according to hockeydb, this was an NHL team from 1967-1970 before merging with North Stars) - Hextall Edmonton - Greene Calgary - Berezan Hartford - Dave Tippett Atlanta - Hrkac Montreal - Craig Ludwig San Jose - McLean Ottawa - Brian Lee There were more (obvious) but.... By the way, as I scrolled through, there were a TON of former Sioux who used to play for the Winnipeg Jets. My question is: Which NHL team, over the years, saw the most former UND players suit up for them?
-
I correct myself: Troy Murray played for Colorado... So, no, there hasn't been a single NHL team (that still exists today) that at least one former Sioux has played at least 1 game for.
