Oshie goes for Slashing. Anderson does NOT want UND on the PP. Mavs have the upper hand tonight
-
I'm surprised Anderson called that. World's most obvious interference call. WOW.
-
Yup. The Sioux need to play like the refs aren't going to call the Mavs for anything but the most obvious of penalties and the refs will call them for looking at the Mavs wrong. They'll come out ok.
-
Nice save by Phil.

Kaip goes for boarding.
-
One near miss and that's about it.

UND PP....

Strategy for the Second Period: 1. Keep on pressuring, forechecking, and chipping away at the Mavs 2. Play keeping in mind that the Mavs have a sixth man on the ice, Anderson. He seems committed to giving the Mavs the benefit of the doubt. Mavs should have had 3 penalties(1 was called -- Kalinski, Fabian was tripped on the breakaway, and Porter was checked from behind (the minor because he wasn't near the boards)). Anderson hasn't made any BS calls on the Sioux, he just isn't calling it both ways (typical). Coinciding with this, Porter and Kozek (the only two I caught) and crew should stop looking for Anderson to call penalties on their behalf. It apparently isn't going to happen. Get up and get back in the play (they should do that anyways). So, lets come out and play hard! By the way, Matt Watkins, first time color and all but... TALK dude! Don't worry about sucking at it. If Masucko, Bredahl, and Santo (Cubs baseball) can do it, you sure can.

It's easier to be negative than to be positive. Why be Disney when you can be some doom and gloom artist? Angst is in. How else can you explain the success of Linkin Park, Papa Roach, recent rap music (1990-Present), and so on? Also, jumping to conclusions is so much fun, why miss out? (no, this observation isn't related to your post, just to the SiouxForevers and so on).

They said the same thing about Martin St. Louis. And it didn't stop Buffalo from wasting a 5th(?) round draft choice on Nathan Gerbe. I understand what you are trying to say and I'm not all that certain Duncan will make the NHL, but even if he doesn't I agree with AZ in that I'm sure some team will give him a shot. I only hope to god it is a team that runs a fast paced, high octane offense like Ottawa or Buffalo or Detroit and not some boring team like Dallas or Minnesota (though lately they've actually tried to be dynamic).

Whew! It took long enough to be labelled a bust! Poor thing. Forney should just quit hockey. I mean, he's only played a few games and the rest of his days at UND have already been decided. He should go to Lee and ask how he does it. Seriously, WHEN Forney proves you wrong (which he will because you are) I would certainly expect a long explanation on your ability to evaluate busts (I mean... inability sorry) and how you were wrong. Could Forney be a bust? Maybe. When will we know? After he graduates. Could he be a bust before he graduates? Only if he leaves the team before he graduates and his play makes it apparant. Can he still be playing for UND and be a bust? Nope.

You hit on my biggest fear for tonight's game. When UND garners a lead and it is perhaps in the 2nd or 3rd period, my fear "factor" will rise exponentially because the Mavs now have nothing to play for so they might as well try to test the boundaries of physicality so to speak. Try to sucker us into fights, "inadvertantly" rough up players that aren't protected from it (Shall I call it "Pulling a Bruess?"), and playing dangerous and cheap hockey. I'd rather not be short any player for even part of a game. And, as it is well known, I have no confidence in the officials to do the right thing and protect the goaltenders. Like I said last night, thank Parise we don't have Don Adam or I'd be worried about players safety as well.

Ah, I see. Well, I miss Fanian despite the fact I've never seen him skate. I'll probably miss Fabian more.
-
But second guessing Hakstol seems like the pasttime of so many posters here the past few years.

Tell me about it. I don't remember what exactly I did (maybe got a trivia question right) and AZSioux sent me both the 2000 NC game and the WJC Gold Medal game. ROCK ON, AZ dude. I'm waiting for the day when I can answer trivia and get the 1997 NC game. Oh, and the Gopher sweep this year would be cool too. I still have the autographed Brady Murray billboard jersey card.

It's obvious that he was playing hurt this season and his offense wasn't really there because of it. However, especially the last few games he played in, he really showed signs of greatness. He's a good skater and has a good eye for the puck, but he wasn't very physical and couldn't really shoot as well because of the injury. My prediction is that he comes out of surgery a tad hesitant and then by January, becomes a steady scorer. I'm not sure he'll lead the league in scoring at any point in his UND career, but I think he'll definitely be 1st or 2nd line material. The only thing I wish was that Forney could have medical redshirted this year.
-
It's been debated here a few times in the distant past. Hack, cheap, etc. all attributed to Scott Stevens at one point.
-
I'd probably put Andreas Nodl or even Lasch instead of Trotter. Also, Sports Illustrated On Campus named Ryan Duncan their Most Valuable Player and the WCHA the best league thanks to Ryan Duncan among others.

They changed it? PA announcer and Sweeney said it was a Misconduct. Should have been a DQ. Competent officials wouldn't worry about punishing a team for one player. A player's act is a player's act. Punish at will. I would say the same thing if Kaip crosschecked Tormey like Bruess did. Anyways, thank Parise Don Adam wasn't the official tonight. I'm sure Bruess would have only gotten a 2 minute minor for interference and perhaps Phil would have gotten 2 for diving. -
Yup. Some say he was a hack, but I felt the same way about Scott Stevens. He hit hard, fought hard, and was a competant defenseman. He even contributed offensively every now and then. Vladimir Konstantinov was the same way before he got in that ill fated Limo. I'd rather dress a third goaltender than a one dimensional fighter like Booogggerrrbrain.

Obviously a person saying such a thing can't be too bright, so let me give you a few choices as to what I predict a response would be like: A. "It would be worth it!" B. "You'd be too busy counting stars going around you're head to get the Police!" C. "Don't worry, Bina would get you out." D. "........................"

So: Who gets kicked out of the NCAAs if CC or any of the bottom 5 win the Final Five?
-
Finley has only one goal... a Game Winning goal vs. CC. He's going to be a sniper. One only hopes he's as good of a sniper as the best sniper of all time: Matt Greene . As for Lee, Bina, and Chorney on offense: Yeah, I think Chorney and Bina will contribute nicely. Lee has done VERY well this year offensively, but I still think he could shoot more. He has a very good wrist shot but he's always in a pass first, shoot last mentality to me. But Finley and Lee doing well would be AWESOME because it would help spread out the production (not to mention drive the "haters" nuts...that is if they even noticed them doing well ). He's already solid on the powerplay.
