  1. Hmmm I don't think we could take it that far. I actually think that would make us look worse. What I'd say is that, if we did change the name, the students and alumni should have the say as to what the name should change to. Not the faculty or the tribes or any external entity that did not graduate from UND. And those who do attend or have attended UND have the same weight of vote that everyone else does. Meaning, you have one vote worth one vote for one particular name choice. Just a simple vote. Majority wins. If the anti-nickname crowd supports a name that doesn't get approved by the majority, tough crap. If it is "The Tribe" or something to that effect, TOUGH CRAP. I'm all for the "Be careful what you wish for" category of results.
  2. I agree with this. The only thing I'll add is that, when it does become apparent that it is time for a change, that UND does it on its own terms. Not that of the tribes. Not that of the NCAA. And definitely not that of the PC idiots out there who think that they should run the world (and the PC idiots who don't want to run the world). ------------------------------------------------ And yeah, having met LB, I'd say those Bison friends are lucky.
  3. Thanks PCM.
  4. Hey does have some Childress action going on, but I'll give him a pass this year and perhaps next as well. He does have Mason's Morons still on the team. They are the second biggest joke in Minnesota collegiate sports next to the... University of Minnesota men's basketball team.
  5. I dunno. They may be old, but they do score goals... A LOT. If anything, geriatric hockey is the Wild style du jour! Well, you may say it isn't this year, but I haven't seen the Wild play all that much yet. I'll have to endure a game to see if they actually do try to play offense instead of just lulling the other team (and all of the fans) to sleep.
  6. Took ya long enough. Now, Goon, for extra credit: Would I watch the game? If yes, would the Wild keep me awake?
  7. First, maybe the Mild aren't boring to watch anymore. I'll know it when I see it. Thus far, they haven't surprised me. Second, I don't know how well the Sioux would do against Backstrom. I never claimed UND would win the game. In fact, I think if UND were to win, LeMaire should be fired. I just think that UND could make it more of a game than Manitoba did against us. Third, it's not just Boogaard. It's every enforcer type player out there who's only ability is fighting. I don't care too much that he can fight and fight well. The fact that that is his ONLY attribute (other than size) makes me dislike him or any enforcer out there. You can't play defense very well? Ok, play offense then. Can't do that either? Just fight? Well, not on my roster. I need a guy who can drop the gloves when need be but also contribute when the gloves do not need dropping. Boogaard isn't one of those types of players.
  8. First off, we'd need to dose up in order to make Wild hockey entertaining to watch. Secondly, we wouldn't fare too badly against the Wild. I don't think we'd win, but we wouldn't lose 9-3 either. Thirdly, I'd love to see Boogaard play in a league where no fighting would be allowed. Someone say PYLON? Lastly, I'd love to see the type of exhibition UManitoba got. They got to play an exhibition against an NCAA team (which in translation could mean an exhibition against perhaps a WHL or OHL team) and they got to play the Manitoba Moose. I'd love to see the Sioux play an exhibition against an ECHL or AHL club. If it were remotely possible, I'd say it would have to be Manitoba (AHL) though.
  9. There's a good chance he won't be signing with any big pro team period. He still could end up with the CHL or perhaps the SPHL, though.
  10. His Daisy air rifle.. or is it a BB gun?
  11. I think, to be honest, that this is Grieco's real freshman season. He came in YOUNG last year and I think that rushed him a bit. He started strong enough but it caught him broad side in the end. This year will see what a more mature goaltender Grieco is (depending upon how he is favoring his knee). I don't know what our achilles heel is yet. Typically, though, it isn't goaltending. It's fundamentals and conditioning (at times) as well as power play. We turned everything on last season after Christmas, but before, we couldn't pass, we couldn't play with a man up, we couldn't do a lot of things well. I believe that it doesn't matter how good your team is, if you play poor fundamentally, have poor conditioning, and don't come out to play (even when down 2 goals), you're not going to be in a very good position to contend for anything.
  12. No. What we should do is: PLAY WALSKI! He's a North Dakota native too! AND he stopped something like 75,000 shots in a high school tourney game 12 years back! (for those of you keeping track, that's not bad for a 3rd string goaltender. Too bad his roster spot this year will grow from "3rd string practice goaltender" only to "3rd string goaltender/ 1st string practice goaltender") JPL Grieco Walski Just as it should be. In that order I trust.
  13. Yup. And it won't end up positive if Lammy comes out to play the way he did at the beginning and if our play in the 3rd period tonight comes out at ANY time during that game.
  14. I find it interesting that you'd sit one of our better defensive defensemen. Why do you think that?
  15. I hope so.
  16. A better PK that time.
  17. Radke for slashing. Time for a better PK.
  18. By the way, I hope our PK isn't as bad as that last PK was. Manitoba isn't very good but if we play like that I doubt we'll hold out for long.
  19. Oshie!!!!!!!
  20. Penalty on Oshie. Hooking
  21. Here are the Bison's players of note: Dalyn Flatt -- 6'3" 215# Defenseman -- 3rd Round Pick of Rangers (must be a bust) Myles Rumsey -- 6'2" 203# Defenseman -- 7th Rd. Pick (Calgary) Mark Olafson -- 6' 220# Forward -- 9th Rd. Pick (Washington) On paper, this team doesn't look too talented even by CIS standards.
  22. Bison's roster isn't as fan friendly as last year's. Last year I was able to see if there were any who were drafted, had pro experience, NCAA experience (one former NMU defenseman was there). This team is very Woog-like in that all but two players are from Manitoba. Krister Toews will more than likely start again for the Bison (isn't that guy..you know... out of eligibility? He's been around longer than anyone!) Here's the roster anyways: http://www.umanitoba.ca/faculties/physed/a...ns/roster.shtml
  23. I think everybody scores. Oshie shoots the puck in his own zone, Hakstol hits the puck back into play (no one notices but Sioux players) and it goes five hole. Hakstol gets his first goal in quite some time.
  24. I heard he's pretty good. He's also from Arizona, som AZSioux might know something about him. WCH Blog (Chris) may also know something about him as well.
  25. I can't believe Sandalin would be that foolish to put faith in a first round pick staying more than 2 years. Maybe at one time you could count on it, but not many first round picks stay more than 2 years. When they do, it is truly something special. As for Raymond, he was the surprising defection for me. Him and Sharp were doing really good. Anyways, I agree with you otherwise, USA.
