2020-21 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Pinto named first unanimous NCHC Player of the Year. Berry named coach of the year. UND wins 4 out of 5 awards. Impressive and super fun to have for our team. Now on to the awards the boys really want. -

I don't know about you all, but, I just want to get through this tourney. I'm sure this feeling will change once we drop the puck on Friday and hopefully farther, but I am just so desperately wanting to see this team play in the NCAA tournament. That stress/excitement is so unmatched and I want it to be March 26th so badly.

I absolutely do not think he needs the work. Dude is locked in. -

Ditto. I'd say all four who were out last week will play tomorrow. But, I also think Thome will and should play. -

I think the coaching staff showed last week (sitting Pinto, Guchi, Mash) that they are wholly confident that this team can get it done regardless of who is on the ice. I think Thome has earned the start on senior night and the team is definitely confident in him. With the NCHC tournament up next, I totally get that we want to keep momentum and Scheel is unequivocally our guy, but I don't see it as a big problem if he doesn't play tonight. He's so incredibly dialed in right now and our D is so good in front of him. Give it to Thome! -

Sanderson, fake shot, rotate down to opposite slot to Weatherby is what's happened -

No way, man. Thome deserves the net on senior night. He's perfectly capable of winning this game. As much as I think UND wants/needs the No. 1 overall seed, they are plenty confident in Peter being able to get that win. -

Weatherby and Scheel named forward and goalie of the month in the conference. Raise your hand if you believed this would happen for Jasper back in January? If you're raising your hand, you're a liar lol. Impressive stuff for him. Scheel just keeps showing how great he is. He's so confident right now. Great month... let's make March even better. -

One thing I'm really, really excited about from this game isn't just about this season, but next... With guys like Weatherby (assuming he stays), Juddy, Gaber and some absolute studs on the blue line, our cupboard won't be bare. This squad is so deep. Like someone else mentioned, we have a guy who's potted goals in 7 straight while looking like a bonafide star playing on our third line. Sanderson is our best defenseman now and maybe the best in the NCHC and that's incredible considering how deep this corps is. Scheel is dialed in. This team is just flat out fun. -
Gotta go with a senior... Adams

UND's games in the pod, plus an outstanding conference with the ability to show games and have voters/committee see those games likely removes some of this bias. Anyone who is truly dialed in to college hockey knows how dominant we've been this season, IMO.

I've had the opportunity to watch both UND games this year, and it's been an absolute blast. As a casual fan of UND football, I'd like to know from the more in depth followers, is it shocking that we're 2-0? Are we as good as we've looked or am I missing something? What I watched the past two weeks is really impressive. Beating the Jacks feels like a really special win.

Not arguing against that. I was commenting on that they controlled their own destiny for a Penrose title and UND dominated them. -

Omaha is better than they were last year, but UND is clearly better in all facets. -

That's fair. I personally believe (and hope) those who vote for these kinds of things have an idea of what McKay has done to not ignore him. The WJC connection is stupid and should have zero bearing. -

Totally fine with Guchi and/or Mash being out. Makes complete sense. I just don't think it's in the team DNA to sit players/team to avoid a conflict. -

You guys think so? I definitely think McKay is going to win it. I get the "East Coast Bias" thing, but I feel like McKay is highly respected across college hockey.
