Really? So, that was like 18 months+ ago?! That makes A LOT more sense and fills the blanks with Siouxforce's question. Time is irrelevant lolol. -

Ah, I got it. Not 100%. Either way, UND was worried about his injury and his fall off in play. I'm guessing they would have brought him in had they known Jasper was going to leave. -

Did he age out after last year? My understanding, and I could have misunderstood, was that UND asked him to play one more year before coming to college. -

What part is weird? I'm not sure I understand. -
Wow. So, 61 total power plays, 20 goals. Straight from the box scores on their team site, 6 for 9 on Friday. 1 for 3 on Saturday against St. Thomas. 7 PPGs in 12 attempts. Since then, 49 power plays, 13 goals -- 26.5%. Still really good, but not as good as against St. Thomas lol.

I feel the same way against anyone. We gotta get the PP going again like it was early on. PK just hasn't been good enough.

Everything I heard about Rizzo was that UND was nervous about his injury, his play not being as it once was, and made the call to ask him to stay one more year in junior. He decided he didn't want to do that and decommitted. Didn't have anything to do with Jasper. When he bolted, he was already committed to DU. Sucks, but it is what it is. -
So, there goes that theory lol.

Yeah, maybe speaking generally, but we definitely looked faster in many series. I don't think our overall strength is team speed, but team forechecking/pressure and there is a difference. With that said, racehorse hockey against SCSU is not ideal. We'll need to play like we did against Minny on Saturday to win games, as I see Minny and Clown as very similar teams talent/speed wise.

I'll play with this, too. With Calder out and assuming we get Costo and Kunz back: 17-8-28 10-27-19 18-21-20 13-11-9 I really liked the Ford, Sendo, Hainer line against Minny on Saturday, so I am totally fine with that one if they flip Ford and Jammer. Albrecht has earned a nightly spot and so has Ness, IMO. Budy is trending upward. Once Calder gets back, slot him with Costo and Ford and Kunz and Budy battle for that last spot. Gotta get Kleven back in. He's just too talented to not play regular shifts. I trust he's learning how to best "use his body?" I guess haha. 26-15 25-7 4-2 24 - Bast earned his shifts last weekend 33

From what I have seen, Minny is the most talented group of players we've played, Quinny is the best overall team we've seen, and Duluth is as structured and sound as always but maybe lacks a little offensively. I think Clown, from what I've seen from other games, is potentially the best overall. Very excited to see how we play against them. Wins against Q, Minny, and Duluth make me feel great about our team when we're at our best. We've also gotten spanked against all three. Another big litmus test this weekend at JBU. Simply put, we still need to find a way to score goals more consistently. Still love our pieces and each week brings me hope that we are going to be there when it counts down the stretch.

Our "gauntlet" hasn't been perfect, but two Saturdays of solid hockey have made up for two poor Fridays. How we gonna do against Clown? I expect this series to be a lot like the one with Minny, lots of pace and speed. UND can grind down a team like St. Cloud as they've done it against Quinnipiac and Minny who both have tremendous team speed. I said I wanted to go 4-2 in these six games, but I was always completely fine with 3-3. I'd still be fine with it.

I think that's my main problem with it. I've gotten over the idea of it being "boring" and/or "basic" .... those are just connections to how awesome the Sioux head was. My problem is that I don't think it looks good on jerseys. It's too thin and horizontal. It doesn't fit as a dominant focal point on a jersey. Since it was birthed, I thought it would WAY better as a secondary logo.
-
Ditto and it's honestly not that close. I'll never understand anyone who says the rivalry is gone. They clearly haven't watched/listened to/felt the crowd energy around these games recently.
-
I gotta think it's because they are part of the MN colleges system that's requiring them. My guess is Sandy isn't a fan of it based on this weekend lol.
-
Yep. If DDC wasn't too lazy this week, he would have picked split, too. Close to the same scores, as well
-
That's fair. I guess "fine" is a relative term, sorry. Would be an interesting investigation to see if any of that can be related to the name change argument/issues.
-
Yeah, I don't disagree. We're going in circles and I'm sorry that I'm contributing to it. I still don't really think it affects the University all that much. The school is doing fine and so is the athletics program.
-
Flu bug. My guess is we won't know who is officially out until lines come out.
-
Is this hurting the University at the moment? I think it isn't a good thing long term, no doubt. With that said, if it's not hurting the University, it's just a matter of contention and annoyance rather than something actually of worry.
-
It's not worth winning.... IF YOU CAN'T WIN BIG!
-
Depth needed this weekend .... grrrr
-
Again, I honestly think you're right that they should, but what is the problem that they aren't? It seems like you just don't like it. Which is fine, but I'm sorry, that doesn't mean it's a problem for the University.

Don't overthink it, honestly. Think normal, non-pandemic, seasonal type nonsense. Stuff we usually deal with a bit every season.
