  1. Man, this fanbase can feel so d@mn entitled. This kid owes us nothing, I'm sorry. If Sandy goes to the Olympics, he is doing so under the UND flag. Add another Olympian to our record books and to our marketing Do I like that we'll very likely lose our best player for a massive chunk of a really important stretch of the season? Absolutely not. But, it's a little annoying with our fanbase's inability to see past the moment. To be an Olympian is an incredible honor and we should celebrate it.
  2. The point is, he can leave anytime he wants. He's not on contract.
  3. Allowed to leave? Of course they should be concerned, but what can the team do? Sandy gets picked for the Olympics, it's absolutely his choice to do it since he earned it. Could UND ask him to not go? Sure, but that would kind of dick thing to do, IMO. Sandy is at UND willingly and is not a professional. He gets to make his own choice and obviously it would definitely suck to lose him for that amount of games, but he gets to do what he wants and again, frankly, he's earned that right.
  4. I mean, maybe he will, but I can assure you they won't have the career you had. That gutty performance that you had in the NLCS against the Mets back in the early 90s is stuff of legend.
  5. Everything I've heard about him today is that he's a budding stud. Late bloomer, left PSU commitment because scouts are loving his game. Had he not gotten picked in the 7th this year, he'd be a second rounder next year. I was told he'll jump right in as a top ender and power play as a rookie.
  6. It's really, really frickin good
  7. Perron looking like a blue chippaaaaa https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/hockey/7315425-UND-hockey-may-have-another-great-from-Winnipeg-on-the-way
  8. Friday - Moore Saturday - Sandy
  9. I'm excited by this one. I thought Clown was the best team in the country other than us as the season ended last year and we've both started well. The Huskies have tremendous skill and I want to see how we match up. I think we flip the Friday night woes narrative and take this one. Moore deserves a goal and I think he gets his first playing on big ice where he can motor. 4-3 UND Costantini, Moore, Juddy, Sendo
  10. Yep, we get it. The REA doesn't like Fighting Hawks nickname.
  11. Yeah, I definitely agree that they didn't see it coming. He definitely wasn't
  12. Really? So, that was like 18 months+ ago?! That makes A LOT more sense and fills the blanks with Siouxforce's question. Time is irrelevant lolol.
  13. Ah, I got it. Not 100%. Either way, UND was worried about his injury and his fall off in play. I'm guessing they would have brought him in had they known Jasper was going to leave.
  14. Did he age out after last year? My understanding, and I could have misunderstood, was that UND asked him to play one more year before coming to college.
  15. What part is weird? I'm not sure I understand.
  16. Wow. So, 61 total power plays, 20 goals. Straight from the box scores on their team site, 6 for 9 on Friday. 1 for 3 on Saturday against St. Thomas. 7 PPGs in 12 attempts. Since then, 49 power plays, 13 goals -- 26.5%. Still really good, but not as good as against St. Thomas lol.
  17. I feel the same way against anyone. We gotta get the PP going again like it was early on. PK just hasn't been good enough.
  18. Everything I heard about Rizzo was that UND was nervous about his injury, his play not being as it once was, and made the call to ask him to stay one more year in junior. He decided he didn't want to do that and decommitted. Didn't have anything to do with Jasper. When he bolted, he was already committed to DU. Sucks, but it is what it is.
  19. HA! I sure hope so
  20. So, there goes that theory lol.
  21. Yeah, maybe speaking generally, but we definitely looked faster in many series. I don't think our overall strength is team speed, but team forechecking/pressure and there is a difference. With that said, racehorse hockey against SCSU is not ideal. We'll need to play like we did against Minny on Saturday to win games, as I see Minny and Clown as very similar teams talent/speed wise.
  22. I'll play with this, too. With Calder out and assuming we get Costo and Kunz back: 17-8-28 10-27-19 18-21-20 13-11-9 I really liked the Ford, Sendo, Hainer line against Minny on Saturday, so I am totally fine with that one if they flip Ford and Jammer. Albrecht has earned a nightly spot and so has Ness, IMO. Budy is trending upward. Once Calder gets back, slot him with Costo and Ford and Kunz and Budy battle for that last spot. Gotta get Kleven back in. He's just too talented to not play regular shifts. I trust he's learning how to best "use his body?" I guess haha. 26-15 25-7 4-2 24 - Bast earned his shifts last weekend 33
  23. From what I have seen, Minny is the most talented group of players we've played, Quinny is the best overall team we've seen, and Duluth is as structured and sound as always but maybe lacks a little offensively. I think Clown, from what I've seen from other games, is potentially the best overall. Very excited to see how we play against them. Wins against Q, Minny, and Duluth make me feel great about our team when we're at our best. We've also gotten spanked against all three. Another big litmus test this weekend at JBU. Simply put, we still need to find a way to score goals more consistently. Still love our pieces and each week brings me hope that we are going to be there when it counts down the stretch.
  24. Our "gauntlet" hasn't been perfect, but two Saturdays of solid hockey have made up for two poor Fridays. How we gonna do against Clown? I expect this series to be a lot like the one with Minny, lots of pace and speed. UND can grind down a team like St. Cloud as they've done it against Quinnipiac and Minny who both have tremendous team speed. I said I wanted to go 4-2 in these six games, but I was always completely fine with 3-3. I'd still be fine with it.
