It doesn’t get brought up enough, but what impact does the lingering Fighting Sioux instead of Fighting Hawks “stuff” and Engelstad Foundation control or perceived control have on this program? If you are a guy like Raboin, do you want to jump into that, even with a substantial raise? He will have a shot at big money soon in a program such as Minnesota.

Will Chaves make an emotional, moment in time snapshot decision or look at the big picture and long term plan…hahahahahaha I started laughing as I was typing. That’s not how they do things in GF and the UND athletic dept. Welcome aboard (again), Dane Jackson. Hopefully some good assistant coach hires and a “GM” can make a difference.

Arguably, one could say they were ass this season. W/L record was respectable, but if you watched them on the ice each night, you could see the problems. I am hopeful.

Someone once told me that NCAA hockey is seen by most people how NCAA hockey fans see softball or lacrosse.

It’s not even close. Football is America’s game. Hockey is a small niche sport. There are around 130 FBS teams and 130 FCS teams alone. 60 or so hockey teams. A quick google search shows 458,000 watched the BC vs DU title game last season. FCS semis had around 1.5 million. Title game had 2.4 million.

This is damning. Well, it should be.

At the end of the day, it’s clear that Berry shouldn’t be UND’s coach next season.

Relieved that I don’t have to spend more time watching the team this season. And I watched them less than ever this season. That’s a really bad sign! Hope it changes next year.
