  1. Ok, I'll accept the findings of the FBI that he wasn not, but wouldn't you agree that's it perhaps difficult to fault people for wrongly assuming he was a Nazi symapthizer given this info from your link?: btw, I had not known about any of this in detial until I read the link, so I truly had no true opinion on the matter previously.
  2. I have an honest question due to the fact I've never really dug into the whole question about Engelstad's background. Why are some people so convinced he was a Nazi sypathizer, and why are others so convinced he was not? Second, if he was does it really matter? Anyone trying to besmirch UND over this should be ignored and it doesn't imho negate the fact UND is a quality insitution, with a hockey tradition their fans should always be proud to celebrate. [that last part wasn't easy to write ]
  3. The funny thing about the WCHA is that rarely do predictions come to fruition. It seems that the teams picked to win the conference rarely do and therefore I as a Gopher fan am very hesitant to think they will win the title. While UND loses quite a bit this year, I think they have proven that with Hakstol they should not be forgotten. Not sure about how the whole league fills out, but if UND can be physical enough enough next year, and have quality goaltending, I think you guys are looking at Top 3 finish.
  4. UND played a hell of a game, but I thought Denver may had a slight edge in overall play and they were 4-0 this season against UND. I think if you asked most people they'd say DU is probably the better team of the two, although the margin wouldn't be great.
  5. Congratulations to the team that seemed to want it more, played harder, more aggressively and decided that they were going to dictate the flow of the game. I am disappointed that I don't think the Gophers gave their best effort, but that's honestly not meant to take anything away from UND, the team that deserved to win last evening. Good luck on Saturday.
  6. Goldy, it's one thing to be enthusiastic but bring it down a notch, eh? You certainly didn't need 2 different threads to voice pretty much the same opinion.
  7. Wow - hate to see what happens around your houses when something truly bad goes down.
  8. I don't think UND is cheap, just physical - but the Gophers are a cheap team? Dear Parise, now I've heard everything.
  9. While Sioux fans would simply congratulate the Gophers on a nice season and move forward should they win? ;) I'm nervous not because I anticipate a loss, but because anyone that doesn't think their team can lose in a situation like this is delusional. These are two quality hockey teams, with excellent talent, coaching and desire - plus they've each had more than a week to get prepared and healthy. That's why I really like the Gophers chances because of the success Don has had in preparing teams for this situation. Doesn't mean they will win and I refuse to predict a victory because anything can happen. Hell, most didn't think the Vikings would lose Atlanta in 1998.
  10. Yeah, cuz only fans of the 4 FF teams vote.
  11. Give me an, "H", give me a, "Y", give me a, "P"...
  12. 1. Everyone advocating against the "Minnesota rule" says the play-in winner should get to play Friday night - this would be true no matter if the play-in winner were the Gophers or any other team. 2. If the games are played at the X the Gophers are going to have a crowd advantage no matter what time the game is played. 3) If the #1 seed gets to play Friday afternoon - non only do they get a less rested play-in winner but they themselves get extra rest for Saturday night should they win. The whining here isn't about the rule being unfair, it's because it involves the Gophers. 4) Don Lucia voted against the "Minnesota Rule".
  13. This is true, but would be true for any team that plays the play-in game if a locked down schedule (#1 seed playing Friday night) were put in place as the play-in winner will always have to face the 1 seed.
  14. I didn't say they received any favors, I said they don't deserve any. Making so the play-in winner always gets to play Friday night would be a favor. Also, you still haven't answered why it's a disadvantage to the #1 seed to play on Friday afternoon? And I'm not fighting with you, this is a discussion - it's possible for two people not to see eye-to-eye and remain civil.
  15. Did you even read what I wrote? Why don't you explain how playing Friday afternoon is a disadvantage to the #1 seed? Why not admit the team playing Friday afternoon will have more rest than the team that plays Friday evening?
  16. The winner of the play-in game deserves no favors and explain exactly how not playing in prime-time is a disadvantage to the #1 seed? Not playing in prime-time shouldn't impact anyone other than the play-in winner and if the #1 seed plays Friday afternoon, they actually have a few more hours of rest than the winner of the game played that same evening. And if there's ever a FF at the REA UND would get the same privelege and they should. I agree with DaveK - I don't see why it's such a big deal.
  17. I don't think Cornell or Maine are "easy" and I like UND's chances against Michigan - even in Michigan. However, I'm not saying I think this is the way the brackets should be set up - speculation regarding the setup of regionals is something I'll leave to others.
  18. I never disputed the comments about Vanelli (although I would not go so far as to say he's the "biggest" goon out there) and I've made plenty of complimentary comments about the Sioux at this web-site. As for my supposedly being biased, when was the last time you started a thread about a UND goon?
  19. I guess UND players always have a halo.
  20. I like the fact that when a team like UND wins a NC, I go to bed that night feeling good about the outcome (although this would not be true if the losing team were the Gophers). This is true of UND's most recent NC and I felt the opposite when they lost in the title game. I'm amazed UND fans such as yourself didn't jump off a bridge during the Gophers repeat.
