  2. For everyone that seems certain pollsters are biased towards the Gophers, yet also think the PWR is the most accurate rating, the Gophers are I believe rated higher via the PWR.
  3. Has this kid really done anything to this point to warrant someone actually wishing bad things upon him? I never would have said the same thing about Parise no matter what I thought of him, not untill he'd done something extremely out of line and/or criminal. A press conference was held to announce where he's going - maybe it was over the top but just maybe it was slightly beyond his control, but I guess it's enough reason to want him to suck? We as fans benefit from seeing kids succeed when they elect to play college hockey rather than in some other league. You're not even a true fan of college hockey if you want something like that to happen - it's bad for the WCHA and its bad for the game. Unbelievable.

    Oshie

I didn't get to see any of Oshie this year, but he clearly stuck out in my mind last year and as someone else mentioned I was impressed with his vision. I told myself it would have been nice to the Gophers land him. If he's progressed as expected the Sioux have a great one (not to mention Vandevelde). The only thing I don't really remember about Oshie was his size.

You have evidence Lucia sent them?

Yet here you are, posting in a thread about a Gopher recruit. Of course they will be just fine, so why are so many Sioux fans being so defensive over this signing? UND has a great recruiting class coming in next year and arguing about which class is better - 7 months before any of these kids play a mintue of college hockey - is a bit premature. Nevermind there's a current season yet to be finished. Kessel is the leading scorer for the U.S. Under-18 team with 30 goals and 28 assists in 31 games this season. The Red Line Report, an independent international scouting service, ranks the 6-foot, 185-pound 17-year-old number one among all players available for the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. I repeat - none of this is a gurantee for success, but cripes I'm pretty sure none of you would be trying to pick him apart like this if he had chosen UND.

Only Sioux hype is warranted. You're a one trick pony, junior.

Aboslutely. I hope most fans (Gophers and non) realize he's just one kid and he's just that - a kid. While I will be quite elated if he goes to UM it's no guarantee of team success. Of course, you always have the sane hockey fan that puts things into a true perspective. :

I'd be interested in seeing anyone that is already annointing any future Gophers squad as NC. While it might be a stretch to predict Kessell will be the next Spehar, it's also a stretch to claim he'll be the next Kariya.

Sure makes one wonder why anyone is even interested in the kid.
  11. I wonder how many Sioux fans said the same thing about Hauser and Weber?
  12. While UAA is not the greatest of teams, they have enough quality wins this season that imho doesn't allow them to be labeled "horrible".
  13. I'm sorry - does Jeff Taffe play for the Minnesota Golden Gophers? Dear Parise, the smell of hypocrisy in this thread is gross - but I understand the Sioux fans won't notice - the $h!t doesn't stink at UND and a Gopher can never, ever, under any circumstance - do anything right.
  14. Just as most of don't consider that what's happened so far has actually put us into space, I don't think one series alone would return us back had we got there in the first place.
  15. I bet his daddy is bigger than Briggs' daddy too. For what it's worth, the stats between he and Briggs are pretty comparable: Name, Yr GP W L T GA MIN GAA SH SV SV% Philippe Lamoureux, Fr 7 4 2 1 13 423 1.84 0 175 .931 Kellen Briggs, So 12 10 2 0 23 721 1.91 3 316 .932
  16. Hey, why hide it? Not only are the refs paid off, but the WCHA has found a way to make saves (instead of Briggs) and to put pucks into opposing nets (instead of Irmen/Potulny/Hirsch...).
  17. In case you hadn't noticed, this thread is about the Gophers . If you don't like the fact I'm rebutting your posts, don't post. btw, if these stats: Name, Yr GP W L T GA MIN GAA SH SV SV% Kellen Briggs, So 12 10 2 0 23 721 1.91 3 316 .932 and one bad weekend, in which the Gophers played poorly as a team defensively, on the road, against a team averaging 4+ goals per game in the WCHA, proves Briggs is "mediocre", I'll take mediocre any day of the week.
  18. I could not care less if you want to give respect - I just enjoy taking people to task when they're less than forthcoming. Consider it my duty to help people like Goon take long, hard looks in the mirror.
  19. Solid post Goon - CNN should hire you for your ability to spin. EVERYONE - including Gopher fans, is well aware championships aren't made in November - but even a coward like you should at some point in your life give props where props are do.
  20. Which is precisly why (as has probably already been mentioned ad nauseum) that it's a bit early to annoint the Gophers champions of anything. While I am very much encouraged by what I've seen, and while I believe the team is a legitimate Top 5 team in the country, there is a lot of hockey to be played and the last thing I am about to do is count the likes of UND or UMD out of the picture. That said, this forum wouldn't be complete without Goon demonstrating once again he's completely incapable of ever admitting the Gophers just might be better than he's claimed all along.
