  1. Silly, as in making fun of someone with a diagnosed mental condition?
  2. i can't believe the only item you care to mention is what a Gopher is wearing . wow
  3. If there's really any hypocrisy, then there should be a specific example of an individual poster that hyped Kristo before, and then dogged him after, his commitment to UND. I know that that cannot be done, but I understand chasing boogeymen for some is a way of life.
  4. Oh dear Parise, the irony. btw - I think any fan would laugh at the toilet idea - that's what makes rivalries fun.
  5. It is refreshing to hear. While I would never begrudge anyone that chooses to leave/skip college for an opportunity to play in the NHL, it's great when players as talented as Toews stay in college - even if at the expense of the Gophers.
  6. Yes and no (fairly or unfairly imho). Some of the Vikings from the 60's and 70's that haven't made the HOF come to mind. That Mick Tingelhoff isn't in is a disgrace, among others, and many blame the Vikings never winning a SB as an underlying reason. That Zach Parise never won a NC at UND shouldn't detract from what he meant to UND fans. While it's a point Gopher fans like to toss out on occasion, if I were a Sioux fan I wouldn't necessarily (and no I don't presume to speak for any of you) hold ZP with any less regard than _______ who helped hang a banner.
  7. Perhaps he'll one day lead the Wild to an upset Stanley Cup victory over some team from the East.
  8. Thanks red and cia for two constructive, reasoned replies.
  9. You might be right that he has decided abd I hope he does return because it's good for the game. I simply tossed out the possibility that he's not fully made up his mind because imho it's logical he'd have said so had he crossed that line. Either way the fact is that his being human, being young and this being an extremely important situation to mull over I don't fault him for taking his time to make sure he gets it right for himself. Unfortunately, you couldn't find it possible to remain informative as you did with the above paragraph and had to go with the obligatory childish shot: As I said - imho he hasn't fully decided to stay. Not sure why how that's such a negative or disparaging thought but if chasing bogeymen helps you to sleep at night...
  10. I thought it was done that he was coming back. At this point it might simply be a formality, but if his mind is made up as posed here earlier you'd think he'd have already said as much.
  11. I thought it was a done deal?
  12. Just green ones? Oh I forgot, since you have a halo you're able to watch a Gopher game with complete objectivity. (for the uninitiated, that was a joke and not intended to fuel the already wicked flames of this thread)
  13. Solid point. Either Wooger was a better recruiter than Blais or Lucia is a better coach than Hak since he hasn't been able to win with Blais' recruits. Box.
  14. Lucia won NC's in his 3rd and 4th years as HC at Minnesota. The 2002 team included 11 juniors/seniors and the 2003 team included 3 seniors. About 50% of the 2002 roster were Woog's recruits, the vast majority in 2003 were Lucia's. And my comment was that the obvious argument being made by a select few here is the Gophers must have won those 2 NC's despite Don Lucia. Whether or not they were his recruits is irrelevent to the bigger picture - they won two years in a row. How'd he manage to get out of the way enough for that to happen? Must have been the assistants. Now back to your regularly scheduled Gopher obfuscating.
  15. lol - seeing his post quoted in yours reminds me why I have him on ignore. I guess the Gophers won 2 NC's despite Don Lucia?
  16. Maybe it's not all that bad:
  17. Perhaps I should get a restraining order.
  18. I love that scene. I could be Navin here as well: Navin R. Johnson: Good things are gonna start happening to me now. [Crazy guy with gun scrolls through a phone book] Sniper: Johnson, Navin R... Sounds like a typical bastard. Or here: New Accounts Bank Manager: I will need two pieces of identification. Navin R. Johnson: Ah yes. I have my temporary driver's license - and - my astronaut application form... I didn't pass that though, I failed everything but the date of birth. And last but not least: Mother: Navin, it's your birthday, and it's time you knew. You're not our natural-born child. Navin R. Johnson: I'm not? You mean I'm gonna STAY this color? At least my wife thinks I'm ok. Ok, ok, back to Kessel.
  19. Respect? I wasn't really asking for anything, just trying to add some humor - hence The Jerk reference which was intended to be self-deprecating. Apparently even that's not good enough for some people.
  20. I now feel like Steve Martin in The Jerk: Navin R. Johnson: The new phone book's here! The new phone book's here! Harry Hartounian: Boy, I wish I could get that excited about nothing. Navin R. Johnson: Nothing? Are you kidding? Page 73 - Johnson, Navin R.! I'm somebody now! Millions of people look at this book everyday! This is the kind of spontaneous publicity - your name in print - that makes people. I'm in print! Things are going to start happening to me now.
  21. Some of us are a bit more willing to stir the pot, but I don't think I've ever said anything that was that outrageous or over the top. I know for a fact I've said Oshie and Toews were worthy of the award had they won the ROTY, I know I've said that no matter who UND loses they are never a program that should be counted out, I've defended Engelstad both here, at USCHO and at GPL regarding the stupid Nazir references, and I know for a fact that I've never commented on the lack of trees or plethora of orange parkas at REA. That's pretty level. btw - I was sorry to hear about what a lousy coach that Don Lucia is - who knew?
  22. um - ok - you're welcome As for Sid, he's claimed Kessel is leaving and he's claimed he's staying. although Grandpa forgot to mention that change when posting the contrary position. At this point I'm not buying any claims until the kid officially announces, although I think the odds are he'll sign with Boston.
  23. You obviously knew right where to go to discuss the possible departure of Kessel as you noted above. That there are posts about other players is irrelevent since Kessel is the only player to be recently discussed in the thread, so unless you're unable to login and get directed to the most recent posts you would have had no trouble finding the latest news about him. btw - I'm not saying GPL is better in any way. On the contrary, both sites are great but they just have a little different way of organizing thread topics.
