Please provide a source for this. Not saying it's right or wrong, but the NCAA manual, in its incredible length, does not make this distinction.

I am really curious to hear what the convoluted explanation for why this little tidbit doesn't matter..... When is the last time the WAC satisfied the FBS Conference requirement? 2012? Somehow their grace period goes on indefinitely despite the bylaws stating it is being 5 years and counting outside of that? But I'm sure the rest of the FBS Conferences will be more than happy to look the other way and split the pie even further, particularly the crumbs the G5 already gets. That doesn't even touch on how all these teams moving up are going to magically reach the 15,000 attendance mark which is a requirement to be an FBS member, though its obviously "overlooked" for some existing FBS members.
-
What they actually "need" is a sixth soccer and baseball team sometime in the next 3 years (and it can be an affiliate until you can actually prove otherwise, ByLaw 20.02.5 below does not back up your claim). And considering how they handled it last time, they might not even need the teams, just a plan for them. Anything else is pure speculation, particularly the football scenario.
-
They can also issue endless waivers to allow for compliance or just turn a blind eye like they do with the FBS attendance requirements. My opinion: -There will continue to be some movement, but it will be small. Either Augie or St. Thomas (possibly both) will end up in the Summit. If St. Thomas pursues D1, they will get a waiver to skip D2 or shorten their transition. -Plausible UNC brings their baseball team over and maybe Douple won't screw up and actually look at their application this time though the honestly might be better off in the WAC due to location of the schools and affiliates. -NMSU remains a wild card. The WAC will be down to 7 full time members and Chicago St, who is beyond life-support at this time is one of those. -No one is actually sure if the "WAC is an FBS member" even still holds true anymore. It was mentioned that it might be a possibility in a study years ago and that hypothetical, which hasn't been tested, remains the hinge. On top of that, NMSU is literally the only school remaining in the conference who has a football team (future member Dixie St will be an FCS independent once they join). The logistics of what has been suggested aren't based in any factual conversations that have taken place other than some feelers that may have been thrown out 5+ years ago. Many of those schools have zero desire and/or financial capabilities to make the changes.

The Summit will grab a D2 school and that will allow them to get a waiver as the NCAA will consider it a "plan" to be back in compliance. It's already been done before, no reason to believe anything different. That being said, would be interesting to see if there any lingering mutual interest with the Summit and NMSU and they can work something out. As a baseball affiliate, possibly.

Yeah, this is a poor take as it relates to basketball. The deck is stacked against the low and mid major schools. Removing the autobid to for basketball would absolutely decimate the programs in that conference not to mention the financial implications of losing the NCAA money.

Pretty accurate considering he didn't get to the stadium until the 3rd inning or so. Not sure what Rocco was thinking there.
-
Frankly, it should be if you care about anything other than football. I don't buy all the crazy movements predicted but it is ignorant to ignore how close to the edge the Summit is regarding the MBB autobid and that they have already had to use a waiver a few years back to keep it while Omaha finished their transition.

It was something that was explored but Drake wouldn't agree to a Thursday game. Pros and cons for each, just hoping for decent weather and a good crowd.

So 10ish houses or so, or roughly the exact same amount that would be on 32nd? My point was that 47th is built to handle more traffic up to Washington than 32nd is, and that's before taking into account schools. On 32nd, you're likely rebuilding about a mile of road (flood wall to Washington), on 47th, you're widening a couple blocks. And probably fair to note that the houses on the south side 47th (actually 14th Ave NE) and east of Belmont are set back from the road a fair amount, giving a bit more room to widen the road. Using a direct line, the flood wall to the river is about 400 feet in both locations, give or take. 32nd does have move room to change the angle a bridge could come in, giving more room for a landing, but something like that obviously adds to the cost. I'm not arguing either of them are great options, but I personally think when looking at the pros/cons of both, 47th makes more sense. Of course that's before any actual numbers are thrown out there.
-
Once you get past Belmont, 47th is already wide enough to handle additional traffic all the way through to Columbia.

Operating contract has always been annual renewing but until the last year or two was rubber stamped with no issues. Interesting if true. Wonder what the REA's angle is other than staying out of the news every spring. Doubt they are actually worried about locking in expenses over a period of time.

I don't think its going to be what people think of as a "hurry-up" offense. I do think they will line up much quicker and then make calls from there, limiting defensive substitutions and trying to exploit match-ups, but I think they will still go plenty deep into the play clock and give the defense a rest. Doesn't mean there won't be some quick 3 and outs, but I actually think time of possession is going to go up.

Not available to speak to the Herald? Since when?

The new offense is going to be a huge shot in the arm for NK and play to his strengths (see some of his film from Sac St for reference). Having an experienced group of WR's who he will trust to improvise correctly will only further that. I'm incredibly excited to watch the offense move the ball this year.

Or he's trying to temper wild conspiracy theories since this rendering is just a pie in the sky, pipe dream and they are still trying to raise money for HPC Phase II, what is just a tiny portion of a 25+ year plan. Just because something is in a long-term plan means nothing. Athletic dorms would be about the last thing in those renderings that would be added. Plus, Ray Richards isn't being developed so no new stadium there now. I guess they need to raise money to expand the Alerus to get to that magical 15K number you dream of.

Jeff Campbell Zach Muckenhirn Also had former commit Wallner get drafted 39th overall after lighting it up at Southern Miss and former player Miles Lewis playing very well at Michigan just as examples to your comment about Dodson's recruiting.

When those fans start showing up on opposing schools message boards and claiming to have passed "hundreds if not thousands of tests", I'll be sure to ask them as well. The dirty secret is every school has a much different pass rate on their internal testing than they do with their NCAA tests. However, the consequences are significantly different and when they get to the point of public punishment, they are swept under the "violation of team rules" category with a ton of other stuff. That's why I'm getting some amusement on the commentary related to "only" 1 person getting caught. Yes, one that was made public and caught by the NCAA. Remove those two qualifiers and its a different conversation. And again, the internal thing applies to any school who does the testing, not just NDSU.
-
Since results aren't public, can you with 100% certainty say there wasn't more than one failed test? Plenty of plausible reasons for a positive test to not be noticed. Hell, the Forum guys barely caught that a starter missed the championship game even though a ton of people knew almost a week before the game.
-
Thousands? Are you including internal tests in those? Because I promise you those weren't all clean, but they are handled internally and not disclosed.
-
Agree with your main point (necessary evil) and granted there are so many total roster spots available, but the majority of these local kids aren't promised scholarship money/spots and are more likely to stick around long-term, which gives them more time to build into a contributor. I like what they've done so far.

Incredibly athletic family. NR-S was a powerhouse back in the day.

He's currently playing on an AAU team coached by former Bison Lucas Moorman so that didn't exactly help UND's chances. It is what it is. Wasn't a spot of immediate need, let's look at addressing that.

The supplement Newman endorses specifically states it's a low caffeine supplement. How many extra doses would be needed for that to trigger as above the allowable levels?
