  3. Fetch, Yes or no question.... In your opinion, Knowing what is known as of now, is it possible that UND is better served dropping the nickname than retaining it?
  4. http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/229768/ The statement from Sean Johnson (not UNDs Sean Johnson) yesterday is as clear an example of intellectual dishonesty as anything i have seen so far in this cluster. 1). The assertion that there is no proof of Big Sky expulsion at this point is true I suppose. In the same way that if you are a bank teller and a robber says to you, "give me the money or I will shoot you in the face," there is no proof that he will do it until he actually shoots you in the face. 2). The assertion that the legislature was willing to live with the Sanctions. THEY REPEALED THE LAW! Clearly they were absolutely unwilling to do that. 3). For a movement that puts so much weight on the will of the people, one wouldn't think that signatures from 2% of the population would provide them the mandate they are trumpeting.
  5. I dont know when, it is in the constitution that a Governor cannot "Menace" the legislature with his veto power.
  6. http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/229764/ More detail
  7. I think it is just poor writing and it references one of the practical effects of the Board's goal.
  8. Tremendous power grab? Choosing a nickname is a tremendous power grab? ND's executive is one of the constitutionally weakest in the country, if not THE weakest. Cripes, its illegal for the Governor to even threaten a veto. I'm more concerned about a reckless legislature pissing all over the duly elected attorney general and a settlement he signed on behalf of ND.
  9. For that we may require a letter from the Engelstad Family Foundation
  10. Actually, this upcoming season is the last year of his current deal.

  12. You said there are a lot of people with more experience than Hak looking for a job. If you meant over the history of college hockey, fine. If you meant as we sit here today, its not the case.
  13. Has never been a head coach at D-1 level and has not been unemployed since 1994.
  14. Weird that Sandelin didnt hire Johnson this summer when he had an opening.
  15. Name 1 in college hockey. And it wasn't as though Lucia was on the street when he "got" the gopher job.
  16. Tim H on his radio show this AM, ripped Frank B pretty good. "Frank, Shut your Mouth!" He was particularly peeved about the Hakstol contract comment and (paraphrasing this part) said after that comment, anything that Frank says should be dismissed out of hand.
  17. So, if Hakstol didn't make today's comments he wouldn't be extended? Stupefying.
  18. The white whale now is a letter from the Engelstad family.
  19. http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/229558/ What color is the sky in their world? To quote Andy Dufresne, " How could you be so obtuse? Is it deliberate?"
  20. IMO this is right, UND "Will adopt a new nickname" if they do not get namesake approval. The presence of a remedy in the contract should have no bearing. UND's obligations under the agreement were most certainly impaired by a new statute.

  22. I like to call it "the professional bitching class." These folks reside on all sides of the political spectrum. They add nothing and they create nothing, they just piss and moan all day long.
  23. I don't know of any declaration by the NDSC declaring the settlement to not be a contract, not impossible though. Even so, I am fairly confident that the legislature cannot tell anyone to run afoul of a court order. Either way.......
  24. And how would a potential amendment survive the contracts clause in the US constitution? And you didn't answer my question from above.
