I’m not one for moral victories, but it’s nice to see UND play with class. SDSU’s four second half personal foul penalties says a lot about that team. I look forward to seeing their annual postseason choke.

Lest I be thought a hypocrite, let me say that I have been at every home football game this year. In what was arguably one of the biggest home games in recent memory, I was disgusted that today's attendance was 8699. Bubba and this team deserve better, period. UND plays in a SMALL home stadium, and this should have been a tough ticket to get. I fully expected 10,500 today and was blown away at the pitiful attendance. On a positive note, I thought the fans that did bother to show up were fired up.

It's only one game and I don't want to be all doom and gloom, but my excitement and optimism for this season was crushed tonight. I will continue to support the team all year, but I think tonight proved that this is not a playoff team. The offense looks like a group Rudolph would have had at Minot State. Studsrud regressed from last year and the O-line didn't give the RBs a chance all night. Add the loss of Clive, and I don't know how this team scores. BG is a guaranteed loss, and USD just became a MUST WIN.

Wait until the generic, bland Hawk logo that UND is actually going to adopt gets unveiled. That's when the dim bulbs that voted Fighting Hawks based on that logo will realize they were duped. And it will be too late. Listen, vote however you want, that is your right if you are an eligible voter. As an alumnus and someone for whom this University is more than simply a hockey team, it just disappoints me that there appear to be numerous voters who vote Fighting Hawks based on that logo floating around online that will not and cannot ever be used at UND. That and people who like the "Fighting" part of the nickname, because it's, you know, like Fighting Sioux! For these scholars, we apparently could have become the Fighting Dust Bunnies, because, well, you know...

UND is the University of NORTH DAKOTA, not the University of Grand Forks. This is the argument of RRHS graduates that have never left Grand Forks. No other university is called the Roughriders, and it has a ND connection. Supposedly, the new name was supposed to be unique and ND-related, both of which apply to Roughriders. Neither of which apply to the Fighting Hawks. And for those of you who voted FH because of the "Fighting" part, words fail me.

Voted Roughriders again. If it doesn't advance I'd vote Nodaks.

Absolutely right. I graduated from UND in 2000, and I only have one other college friend that follows all three of the big sports. Everyone else that I went to school with and keep in touch with is hockey only, and I don't think this phenomenon is unique to the people that we know.

I voted Roughriders.

AMEN. Despite what most non-alumni hockey fans (and some alumni as well) think, UND is not a semi-professional hockey club. It's a university (the FLAGSHIP university of the state no less), and has other athletic teams in addition to men's hockey. Far too many people lose sight of that. I for one am sick of hearing people discussing the nickname vote in terms of "what looks good on a hockey jersey". I love UND hockey, but I'm equally passionate about football and other sports at UND, and am proud of the academic accomplishments of the university as well. I hope that the hockey only crowd refrains from voting, although I recognize their right to vote if they qualify as an alum, season ticket holder, donor, etc.

Frustrating beyond words. By all rights UND should be 4-0 in the Big Sky going into next week's matchup in Missoula. Unlike some of the posters who stop caring after these tough losses, I continue to find myself invested in this team and the direction it's heading. While the excuse doesn't change anything, this is a different game if Reyes plays and if UND has even an average QB. When you lose a lead late and your opponent knows you can't effectively throw the ball, this is the result you get. I will continue to support this team, but these last two losses have been hard to swallow, and hurt a lot more than the loss to NDSU, that deep down, we all knew was coming. The what ifs after these last two late collapses sting.

First Gopher game in the 1995-96 season. Minnesota came in with a 19 game unbeaten streak, and #1 national ranking. I was a freshman at UND and I don't think I ever heard the old Engelstad Arena that loud again. A Vancouver scout at the game told some buddies and me it was the best hockey atmosphere he'd ever seen outside of a Bruins-Habs playoff game. To top it off, UND finished the sweep the next night with a 7-5 comeback win.

I understand why there were conference teams you didn't play home and away every year in a 12-team WCHA, but I think playing everyone home and away should be doable in an eight team conference.

Gut wrenching way to lose, but I couldn't be more proud of the way the boys played. They did the program and the University proud tonight.

A "National" search turns up Bubba Schweigert. UND is officially OK with a mediocre product, and with being irrelevant on the ND football landscape.
