  1. I would have to agree mostly with "JK" Hale has not been terrible on defense, but I just think Marvin has started to prove himself back there! R Hale could be a nice grinder, might even accomplish some offense with Prpich and Mcmahon on a line! He scares me on the odd man rushes.......doesn't skate terribly fast backwards, that sort of thing! I guess we'll see! Some days Genoway looks good....others shaky! Jury is still out on that one....Palmo just seems so small, and if he gets into the corners, can never get out and accomplish much!?? Anyway......here's what I would go with....(probly why I'm not a coach!) Lundbohm, Spiewak, Massen Parise, Bochenski, Notermann Mcmahon, Prpich, Hale Quinn, Canady, Genoway??? GO SIOUX!!!!
  2. If that is correct, I would guess Genoway is out. I don't think Quinn will sit. I think the Sioux Green will be the right ingredient for a WIN!!
  3. I think R Hale has done fine at Defense....I just feel Marvin is more used to the position, and being playoffs...one little slip up could cost you the game! I say move Ryan back to forward and use him, Prp, and Mcmahon as the checking line.....they've done well with it lately! Go with Quinn, Canady, and on the 4th line? They say D Hale looks good.....now we'll see how mentally tough he is. He's missed 16 games? Hope he's "chomping at the bit" to get back in there and take care of business! Conditioning??
  4. I was talking with my cousin on the team on Monday night. As of that day or so, Marvin was at forward! Rumor had it that the Hale brothers were playing together. Not sure if this will stay the same or not. In my opinion, I would move Hale back to forward and go with Marvin back on the point. To me, he has more than stepped up in the last part of the year. I feel confident with him out there. I also don't think that Connelly's injury will hurt us overall! He has speed, but we haven't gotten much production out of the 4th line at all......I like Canady's ambition, maybe a bigger body out there would do ok? I'll be there this weekend......GO SIOUX!!
  5. Keys to the game........... Come out fast and strong. Take advantage of the home crowd, get the crowd going early which should fuel the team and their aggressiveness! SCORE< SCORE< did I say SCORE??? If the refs don't call penalties on the muggings, skate through it or through them! Play tough defensively, clear rebounds! No penalties...... I agree.....the old Engelstad ROCKED!...but, this is the new rink. I've heard it get really loud........let's get the place ROCKING from the get go! Cheer loud and long! GO SIOUX!!!!!!!!

    Prpich

I must admit, when Prpichs name came up in the off season, I didn't think much of it......early signs led me to believe he'd be a player who was in and out of the line up at best. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! I love his grit, and in your face attitude.....rumor has it he skated in front of Mankato's box a couple weekends ago and told Jutting to send out any player and he would take them on......! Should be a good player for years to come.......let's not compare him to Bayda yet though, not a good comparison in my opinion!
  7. UND vs. Wisconsin....... I am obviously hoping we come out smoking at WI this weekend! I think the team will finally play with a sense of urgency! Personally, I think I would start Brandt. He hasn't played too terribly bad....Ranfranz played a couple good games, but the last game in Mankato, looked shaky to me! Brandt at least will come out and challenge the shooter. He just needs to control that aggressiveness on certain shots, and he'd do much better. At least to me he "looks" like a goalie. The home playoffs are on the line........win 2 and we're at home! I think coach and the seniors will take it upon themselves to kick it into high gear! The way Bochenski and Parise had some spark towards the end of the Sunday Duluth game gives me a new sense of hope! They were buzzing, and I HOPE they're extremely hungry for some points! Hopefully the power play can relax a little, and shoot the puck instead of making the "pretty play"! I think Lundbohm is due again for a goal each night, he has in the past few road games.....get the first two lines scoring, get some aggressive play from the 3rd and 4th lines.....and we might do fine. (At least we all HOPE!) Go Sioux!!

    Sioux/duluth

Frustration (once again!) Who isn't getting sick of the losing skid? For some reason, this is the worst case of bad luck I've seen! Granted, today the team didn't have a whole lot of flow, but maybe that's due to playing at 2:00 instead of at night? Not going to put a lot of emphasis on that one but it's something to consider. My grief, was when Parise hit the "post" and the goal judge put the light on.....to me, clearly it was not a goal.....but what ticked me off, is we still had a scramble going, had UMD on the back of their heals, and who in the HECK is in charge of turning the lights off, sounding the fog horn, and shooting off fireworks? The ref was forced to blow the whistle, possibly blowing a chance for a "real goal"!?? The team is totally frustrated, and the way they came back buzzing in the final few minutes was looking good only to have Jones fall..(when do you see that???) Not sure what Josh was thinking on that one, but yet again, a little thing here and there....and wham, right back into the losing column! Still showed heart by playing tough, hopefully we can manage to keep 5th place, and get a home ice playoff, and maybe then get things going! Go Sioux!
  9. Parise was high - sticked, and kind of hit into the boards. He was down on the ice for a few minutes. Mankato received a 5 minute major, not sure who hit him. He played the next shift.
  10. I think what our "boys" need is a good dose of Engelstad Arena, and their hometown fans, screaming, and letting them know we're still behind them! They are digging down to keep fighting hard each night, the results haven't been there the past few games, so let's give them the best support we have all season! GO SIOUX!!

    Swept again

I was at the Mankato series, and while I do agree, this losing streak is not fun....Friday's game, the Sioux couldn't stay out of the penalty box....3 penalties by one individual, and a 5 minute major by another...how can you win when you're constantly killing off penalties!! I still think we were better than Mankato! Saturday, the guys played about as hard as I've seen them play, but missed a few opportunities, hit a few posts, Jensen made some "lucky" saves, and we wind up losing. Ranfranz would probably want a few of the goals he gave up back as well! As Blais said, we just are not having any "puck luck" right now! I personally see how hard this team is taking the losing streak, and by no means have they given up! The hard work shown gives me hope still as the season is coming to an end! Hopefully that work ethic will carry over to the Duluth series, Wisconsin series, and into the Final 5 and beyond! Get a few bounces to go our way, and this team is STILL DEADLY! as far as farce poobahs comments on the game...I agree with most of what he said....other than the players who were "invisible"....I agree Mason was not agressive, and resorted to his sit back and let someone else do it approach. As far as Lundbohm, I don't know if I noticed a player who played as hard as he did! How many people did he set up, and didn't get results? Connelly had probly one of his best efforts, flying in and forechecking...Prpich had another strong effort!...the Mavericks have good forwards, but I would say their defensive corps is suspect! If we meet them again in playoffs, I would bet on the Sioux if we continue to pepper their zone and defensemen like we did the 3rd period of Saturday's game! This weekend, let's get behind the team! The early home stand has come back to hurt us as being on the road, while struggling, doesn't help things! Make Engelstad Rock! and.....LET'S GO SIOUX!!!
