JPar has been fine in nets, but not an "MVP".....once again, there is still Brandt, and maybe Zieglman.
  2. I don't think Brandt is hurt! I would have to disagree with Parise making great outlet passes.....sure there are times when it looks "good", but I can recall several times when his passes go for icing, or the defenesman / forwards have no clue where the pass will be going, or if it is coming for that matter. Brandt found out the hard way on that one in the WI series! Brand has played that poke check play for many years, I can remember back to his High school days...... Parise plays decent position hockey, but also tends to "go down" quite often. Did anyone notice how many CC shots were aimed "high"? a few sailed just over the crossbar.... Brandt plays just as aggressively as Parise.....however, he's gotten a lot better at staying in position than he was his freshman year.
  3. Are you saying Parise is in Casey, and Belfour's league?
  4. I'm not saying Parise has not been a good goalie for the Sioux......my point had to do with the post "Where's Jake"? You say "freshman".......how far will a freshman take us into the playoffs? Maybe I'm wrong, and he'll play great! I hope so........but still can't see how you can just sit Brandt.
  5. My point was not that he was punishing Jake, but it's more of the mind games.....that's like taking out a starting pitcher in the last inning, and replacing him with another starting pitcher!
  6. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he played Parise after pulling Jake?
  7. One more note...... Jordan has played fairly consistent the entire season......he has let in some "weak" goals (IMO) all season, but the team has been scoring to counter act those goals! Big difference when we play the tough WCHA teams.....we aren't going to be able to score every night, although it would be nice. Every WCHA team NEEDS to have a goalie step up and make a key "Big Save" that wins the game....not just keep you in it! That's where I see Jake has "won" some games....MN, SCSU....(IMO).
  8. Ok, well conspiracy or not, Jake has a certain "attitude" about him.....that's the way he plays the game! Goalies are a different breed! Bottom line, does it affect the team? I know he doesn't have THAT type of attitude! Would you rather have a confident goalie that gets hyped up for games, or not? I wouldn't have a problem with CB playing one goalie over the other IF that particular goalie was exceptional! JPar has not been that lately! And I'll say it again.....How do you pull a goalie that has a shutout going LATE in the 3rd period? If Jake would have been in net Saturday, and given up 4 2nd period goals, I can almost guarantee he would have been replaced! So what's the difference here?
  9. I have to agree........ like it or not a "Parise factor"
  10. How can you not play Brandt this time of year? Did he not win us big games in St Cloud, in Minnesota? From what I remember, he basically has won quite a few games for the Sioux! Jake is a big game player! The save he made in St Cloud has got to be one of the best I've seen ever! Sprawling on his back, and not giving up on the puck on a break! From what I remember, Jordan got us a "tie" against Denver. What games has he come up huge in, that actually "won" the game for the Sioux? Sure he's played alright, but has not had that many "outstanding" nights like Jake has (IMO). I thought splitting the games was bad enough, now only playing in a couple of the last 6 games? What is our record in the past 6-8 games?
  11. Not sure where you heard that but I didn't.......for some reason I think CB has something against Jake! How is Jordan a MUCH better goalie than Jake? I still stand by my opinion that Jake is a better goalie! Jordan was winning earlier in the season, but now they are not! Is it all his fault? Of course not! However, I really doubt our chances of being National champs with a freshman! Jake has had 3 years to get good? Maybe if Blais would actually let him play, instead of messing with his head (remember the Yale series? A goalie has a shutout going with 7 minutes left in the game, and you get pulled?) Give Jake a shot, and he'll get hot! He did last year at this time, and I think he will again! Jordan isn't "bad"....but he's still a freshman (no matter what his age is).
  12. How can it even be close? Zach by a landslide!
  13. I can't see how ripping your goalie is going to help "motivate" a player! IMO, it was poor judgement to rip on your goalie. Goalies (and other players) need "some" encouragement......not always worrying about how bad the coach will rip you in the papers the next day! You win as a team, lose as a team! That INCLUDES the coaching! Why can't we get a goalie coach?? How does it work, that Brandt gets ripped on for playing aggressively (although il-advised.....) yet Parise lets 2-3 "soft" goals in, and you don't hear a word??
  14. Call me superstituous too, but I agree.......can those black jerseys! Bring the green out only!
  15. I agree, we came out flying the first period........I think we took the Badgers a little off guard. I've been at the Kohl center, and it's a rocking place....especially now this year with a winning team. Is it not tough to play on the road in an environment like that?? Sure it is! Let's not forget that Wisconsin is a serious contender, and look to be legitimate! Who was running around scared tonight?? Didn't want to get hit? I think I saw hits all over the ice, from BOTH teams! One loss like this is not the end of the world.........quit with the pessimistic attitude. The team is NOT what it was last year, much deeper, etc. Keep the chins up, tomorrow....will tell a lot more! I say we'll come out like the 1st period, and not let up! GO SIOUX!!!
  16. Ahhhh, that is where you are wrong my friend. The high school might not be rich, but they don't do the recruiting. Marvin windows is rich and hooks parents up. I hear that Wyatt Smith's mom was given a beauty salon for them to move from TRF.
  17. Maybe there is a connection there, bottom line is they recruit BIG TIME, no if's, and's or but's. I think Oshie is an excellent player, and will do great for the Sioux.
  18. I'm from Roseau, and believe me, I can tell you stories of some good rivalries......heck, one year, the section championship was Warroad vs. Roseau....I swore it was Roseau vs. an All - star selection of various players from Section 8 schools, and players from around the State....(oh wait, I think there were a couple "pure" Warroad players) I've never seen so many job openings "open up" for parents with hockey players!
  19. Oshie "playing the system"....Warroad has a tendency to do that!! Trust me......however, this Oshie kid has some excellent hockey skills......I think he'll develop just fine, and be a nice addition some day! Maybe doesn't have the great speed quite yet, but maybe give him time....... Warroad should have a lock on the state tournament at the "Class A" level.
  20. "JK" on spehar.... Wasn't Goehring the goalie for Apple Valley for the championship between Duluth East, and Apple Valley? like 5 OT s to decide it??
  21. Genoway will make UND's fourth line good! IMO, when Lundbohm is playing the way he can (and has been as of late).....it's a no brainer to play the senior over Genoway. Colby did fine against some "weaker" teams when Lundbohm was struggling. He has the skills and is more experienced, and stronger than Genoway. It's not a demotion for Genoway, as much as it is somewhere where Lundbohm belongs. Alternate captain, senior, etc.
  22. Jake had a bad week of practice, so he didn't play this weekend.......I know he is frustrated because of it....... What game(s) has he not played well in? He beats MN, beats SCSU.........Jake is not in the shadows of Jordan! I say Jake plays Friday night vs. WI, and if he plays well, I'd play him again the next night.
  23. Yes, apparently Blais was not happy with some practices this week for Jake. It's unfortunate, I still say Jake deserves at least one of the nights, maybe two....he's the more experienced! Hats off to Jordan tonight, made some outstanding saves....and quite possibly salvaged the tie!
