  2. I'm saying almost half the building......8,000 to 9,000 And judging by the run on tickets, they could probably sell 30,000 tickets to Sioux fans. Dave
  3. Looking for at least two, and as many as eight, Frozen Four packages. Please send me a pm or call/text 218.779.9872. Thanks and Go Sioux! Dave Berger
  4. I was 12. My dad went without me, and told me later that he thought I "wouldn't want to go". I've forgiven him. That being said, I've never seen UND win a national championship in person.... Dave
  5. *shameless plug* Some pre-game reading if you missed it: NCAA Tournament Preview: UND vs. Denver Dave
  6. NCAA Tournament Preview: UND vs. Rensselaer Discuss. Dave
  7. My predictions for the Hobey top ten can be found here. The announcement will be made Thursday evening. In the meantime, feel free to try your hand at predicting the ten finalists. Dave
  8. This is one of the most troublesome double meaning words in the world of sports. I often misread "resigned" (to voluntarily leave a position) as "re-signed" (to ink a new contract). Does anyone else do this? Dave
  9. When Gregoire went out with an injury, I said that missing time might be the only thing that keeps him around for his senior season. I was thinking that he wouldn't put up gaudy numbers and the Islanders might not be convinced that he was 100%. In the mixed blessing department, he only missed 7 games and he's been on a tear since his return (18 goals and 10 assists in 16 games), blowing my theory out of the water. I've got it at 50/50 that he'll be back next year. Luckily, we can still talk about this season... 6 more wins! Dave Crazy stat department: Jason Gregoire (#17) now has 17 assists in each of his three seasons at UND.
  10. WCHA First Round Playoff Preview: UND vs. Michigan Tech Discuss. Dave
  11. Weekend Preview: UND vs. Bemidji State Discuss. Dave
  12. They brought their TOYS with 'em!!!!
  13. Unless the other Friday matchup involves Minnesota, in which case the Gopher game would be played at 7:00. Dave
  14. Thanks for the catch. Fixed my original post. Hope to see you there sometime! Dave
  15. Weekend Preview: UND vs. St. Cloud State Discuss. Dave
  16. UND/SCSU Challenge Cup article Please consider joining us for the pre-game event this Saturday, February 19th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Legends Bar and Grill inside the St. Cloud Holiday Inn. Great fans, food, and prizes.... and the Challenge Cup will be on display! Dave
  17. You are correct that last season was a tie (splits in Grand Forks [W 4-2, L 2-3] and St. Cloud [L 3-4, W 8-1]). Since we "share" the trophy when the teams each earn four points in the regular season series (no playoff tiebreaker or anything like that, at least not yet...), and since we had held the Challenge Cup since January 2009, I left the Cup with the Center Ice Club after the February 2010 series. And yes, UND needs one point this weekend to claim the Cup outright. Look for more information about the history of the UND/SCSU Challenge Cup later this week. Dave
  18. St. Cloud Center Ice Club and SCSU Alumni Association are partnering to host a pre-game social this Saturday, February 19th. Location: St. Cloud Holiday Inn and Suites - Legends Bar and Grill Time: 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Complimentary food available, and door prizes will be awarded. All fans are welcome and encouraged to attend. SiouxSports.com does not have an official role at this function (we host the event in Grand Forks every season), but our group of 37 will be there. Dave
  19. Weekend Preview: UND at Colorado College Discuss. And try your hand at the trivia question. Dave
  20. Weekend Preview: UND vs. Nebraska-Omaha Discuss. Dave
  21. I told my wife that I wouldn't start with the Frattin for Hobey campaign until he hit 20 goals. Well, we're here. You may have heard me at the rink tonight. Before this season started, I thought the Hobey possibilities for the Green and White were: Chay Genoway Brad Eidsness Jason Gregoire And now I think we've got: Matt Frattin Aaron Dell Chay Genoway It's rare to have multiple finalists from one school, as many schools choose to heavily promote one player instead of plugging several, but I really think Frattin and Dell have a shot at cracking the top ten. What helps them both is the combination of UND's strength of schedule, overall record, and national profile. I think either Andy Miele or Carter Camper (both from Miami) will make it, along with Jack Connolly and/or Justin Fontaine (Minnesota-Duluth). Broc Little (Yale) is easily in, and I think there's a spot for Cam Atkinson (Boston College). Allen York (Rensselaer) is probably the Eastern candidate between the pipes. In a soft year for defensemen, Justin Schultz (Wisconsin) has a shot, but a lean year on the blue line also helps Chay Genoway, in my opinion. Other forwards with an outside chance would be T.J. Tynan (Notre Dame), Paul Thompson (New Hampshire), and Craig Smith (Wisconsin). Dell will have to pass Scott Gudmanson (Wisconsin) to get the Western Hobey nod to netminders. I'd like to hear who's on your radar, both at UND, throughout the WCHA, and across the college hockey landscape. Dave
  22. With the two games at UND, Robert Morris has moved out of the cellar and now boasts just the SECOND weakest schedule in the country (according to KRACH). Army now occupies the cellar. North Dakota's strength of schedule took a hit, but the Fighting Sioux still claim the toughest schedule in the nation (Anchorage and Denver are within striking distance). Too bad we'll take another hit playing the Gophers next weekend. Dave
  23. Thanks for the catch; got it corrected. Go Sioux! Dave
