WCHA 2011-2012 Predictions Part 1: The Bottom Six
Discuss, and add your own. 8-)
Check back tomorrow for "Part 2: The Top Six" as we look forward to another season of hockey and the race for the MacNaughton Cup!

I've always said there are different levels of devotion:
I almost always find that I know more about my team than "other team's fan" knows about their team.
I usually find that I know more about "other fan"'s team than they know about my team.
What's alarming is to find "fans" who don't know as much about their team as I know about their team.
Sometimes when this happens, the excuses range from "I'm a fan of lots of teams" to "I'm a fan, but I don't have time to know every little thing about my team".
To me, fan = fanatic. If you don't have that level of devotion, call yourself an enthusiast. 8-)

I had a terrible weekend, prediction-wise, at the Final Five. Ugh.
By all other accounts, though, it was a success! And sorry I didn't stop, or wave, or say hello. I get in a zone sometimes... (my wife would say "all the time")

I was 12. My dad went without me, and told me later that he thought I "wouldn't want to go". I've forgiven him.
That being said, I've never seen UND win a national championship in person....

My predictions for the Hobey top ten can be found here.
The announcement will be made Thursday evening. In the meantime, feel free to try your hand at predicting the ten finalists.

This is one of the most troublesome double meaning words in the world of sports. I often misread "resigned" (to voluntarily leave a position) as "re-signed" (to ink a new contract). Does anyone else do this?

When Gregoire went out with an injury, I said that missing time might be the only thing that keeps him around for his senior season. I was thinking that he wouldn't put up gaudy numbers and the Islanders might not be convinced that he was 100%.
In the mixed blessing department, he only missed 7 games and he's been on a tear since his return (18 goals and 10 assists in 16 games), blowing my theory out of the water. I've got it at 50/50 that he'll be back next year.
Luckily, we can still talk about this season... 6 more wins!

Crazy stat department: Jason Gregoire (#17) now has 17 assists in each of his three seasons at UND.
