I met Dave Hoogsteen at the Final Five a couple of years ago; he signed my jersey and I framed it after that. Haven't worn it since (obviously). I'm sure you'll still recognize me. Dave

Section 104 Row 2, right by the penalty box. Same seats we've had for the Final Five since the X opened. You used to be able to find me in a Hoogsteen jersey, now it'll be Parise. Come on down and say hello! Dave

March 28. 1999 is the one I'll always remember. UND, 32-5-2 on the season, faced Boston College in Madison to advance to the Frozen Four. BC upset North Dakota 3-1 in a game that was 2-1 for the entire third period until an empty net goal with 11 seconds left (and it had to be Gionta, didn't it?). The Sioux peppered Clemmensen with 15 shots in the third period alone but couldn't get it done. Ugh. Dave

I'm going to write a mid-week article on this subject, but here are some thoughts for now.... Despite only having Chay Genoway for 9 out of the 37 games played to this point, this year's D corps have surpassed last year in a number of different areas. For the entire 2008-2009 season (43 games), Fighting Sioux blueliners scored 13 goals and added 55 assists for 68 points. This year, through 37 games (and with between 3 and 9 games left to play), Sioux defensemen have potted 15 goals and 55 assists for 70 points. (Genoway's four goals and six assists are included in this season's total) On the defensive side of the ice, this year's squad is allowing 2.08 goals per game on 23.9 shots. Last year's team allowed 2.74 goals per game on 26.9 shots. Certainly some of this is Eidness, whose numbers compare as follows: Freshman year (08-09): 24-12-4, 2.56 GAA, .906 SV%, 1 SO Sophomore year (09-10): 20-8-4, 2.10 GAA, .914 SV%, 2 SO It will be my contention in the article that it's taken a while for the other Sioux defensemen to adjust to Genoway's absence, but that this team's recent stretch of eight consecutive victories is a testament to how well the unit has stepped up, adjusted, and filled roles and minutes that underclassmen typically don't play in the WCHA. I'd be interested to hear your comments and questions about the progression of this year's defensemen. Dave

I have three tickets I can't use for Saturday's game. Our seats are in 306 row C (the Sioux score twice on this end). Looking to get $100 for all three. Also may have a couple of Sunday tickets available, so let me know if you'd be interested in those as well. You can send me a PM or text me at 218.779.9872. Go Sioux! Dave ***Saturday tickets are sold - thanks for the interest. Go Sioux!***

Except that it doesn't work that way. 20 wins is not a "magic number", nor should it be. The committee will run the Pairwise once (after all of the games are completed on Saturday, March 20th), and we'll have the NCAA tournament field. Remember, there were many voices last year that were convinced that the committee would "find a way to put Minnesota in" since they were hosting a regional, and it didn't happen. For what it's worth, I like that the system is objective and unbiased. I would prefer KRACH, but that's a matter for a different article. At least we've got a transparent process and clear results. You are absolutely right. I included the numbers from 2007-2008 instead of last year's records. I fixed it in my blog post. Thank you for the correction. Dave

I've got one ticket available for each night of this weekend's series in St. Cloud. Paid close to $35 for each one, would like to get $30 each if I split them or would sell both for $50. Send me a pm or call/text me at 218.779.9872 if you're interested. I'll be en route to St. Cloud tomorrow so I could meet you early in Grand Forks or wait to meet up at the arena in St. Cloud this weekend. Thanks and Go Sioux! Dave

Just got this from Bill Prout, SCSU Center Ice Club (hockey boosters) President: Once again we invite all UND fans to our pregame event to be held in the Legends Bar at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites on Saturday, February 13. The event will run from 4:00 -6:00 PM. As always, we will have complimentary food and prizes. The hotel is located at the intersection of Hwy 15 and Hwy 23 (also called Division Street and 37th Avenue ) in St. Cloud. I hope all of you join us for this event. If any of you are on Al's bus, try to convince the group to come on over and check it out. We've always had a great time. Dave

It's been at the Holiday Inn for the past couple of years - a good drive from the Kelly Inn. When I have all of the details I will post them here. Dave
-
In the past, they have arranged a bus or two to bring fans to the game and back to the event. I'll check with Bill to see if that's the case this year. Dave

I will have a group of around 30 in St. Cloud on February 12th and 13th. I would encourage all of you to attend the Center Ice Club fan social on Saturday, February 13th in the afternoon. I will post a link and complete information when Bill Prout (Center Ice Club president) sends them to me. Dave

It brings all of the teams to the Ralph (aside from SCSU, whom we play four times every season as schedule partners) three years out of five. If you'd like, you can check out the article here and the thread in the forum here. Dave
