Gonna be a little bold here and post the mock-ups of how these will look. PM me if you’re interested in one.

UMD fan in front of me last night is no doubt shocked right now that her Bulldogs are not a #1 seed. Oh, she’s likely disappointed as well that 4 other NCHC teams are in the tournament along with Duluth as she was certain it was just going to be her boys and Denver in there.

Agree 100%. The 3-4 page thread about him I posted in March or April of 2019 speaks volumes about the person and fan he was. When I’m gone, hopefully @Wilbur’s post telling folks here the news will get at least 1 positive reply.

Front and back side view - each block is about 8” x 8” and 4” from front to back. I have a local friend in western WI who puts these together. If you’re interested in one for yourself or as a gift for someone, you know where to find me.

Hi, I’m NCAA football “title powerhouse” Notre Dame… …or would you rather be Georgia or Alabama in 2022?

Nice crowd today at the Hogg - I believe I counted 25-30 in the group. So nice to see some long-time attendees again after 3 years - @fightingsioux4life, @Goon, @ItalianSioux, @Siouxman, @Wilbur, @Ice Arena Man - probably missing a few others and I apologize if I am. Honored to have the family of our late friend @sprig here today as well - wife Janelle, son Drew, and 3 grandkids. Janelle asked me to pass along her personal thanks in this thread to the SiouxSports.com folks who collectively chipped in some funds to get the grandkids Fighting Sioux glass block piggy banks (with a little memorial to sprig on the back). These were originally going to be presented to them in 2020, but, yea, we all know what happened then. Two years later, the grandkids finally have their gifts. I would like to thank the kind folks as well who chipped in a few bucks each for these - you know who you are. Good food and good stories - nice to see some old friends and make some new ones today. Thank you to all of those who came out - we’ll see you next year!

Welp, the boys woke up to seeing no mimosas on the hotel nightstand and had to take a cold shower, so it is what it is… On to the NCAA’s!
-
It’s still gonna happen - I’m not expecting a huge crowd this year, but I have been surprised before! 11:30 am Saturday!

Yep. It’s evidently such a bad memory that 1998 has been scrubbed from my brain completely.

Agree 100%. In decent years, we had 25 or so people attend. In 2013, upwards of 75 people showed up. C’mon out and meet some of the folks you know only as nicknames on this message board. There will also be a special presentation to the family of @sprig that will be worth the trip in itself. Plus, @Goon and @Wilbur will no doubt ask me to retell the “Sioux Storytime” classic, “How MafiaMan Cost Us the 1998 NCAA Championship.” The event will conclude with a group photo underneath the Hoggsbreath sign, which will be personally customized for us by the owners, Tom and Jossie DuRay.

Any other for-sures? I can now confirm that our late good friend @sprig‘s son and wife will be there along with Mrs. @sprig. She knows that Tim had many friends on this board and is looking forward to seeing some of them on Saturday!

Alright, let’s do it. 11:30 am on Saturday at the Hoggsbreath in Little Canada. It’s typically pretty quiet around that time so we’ll have the place to ourselves mostly. Good food, good eats, good storytelling. Can I get a head count so I can give the owners an idea of how many are attending? Right now, it’s officially 1: me.

11 am isn’t better for those who are 40 miles from home with nothing to do until 7:37 pm LOL!
-
Noon? 1 pm?
-
If you’re in, @Wilbur, then I am too! Let’s do it, folks! Now the question is, what time? I get that some folks are taking in the Wild game, but 11 am is a bit early given the 7:37 pm championship game time, no? Noon? 1 pm?
-
Sounds like @sprig’s family will be making an appearance. I have a special presentation for them — long overdue as these gifts were to have been given to Tim’s grandkids two years ago. You won’t want to miss this.

I need some more commits before putting this together. We used to get 20-25 people in a good year and in 2013, I believe we had over 75.

Well, the Hawks are coming to town next weekend…thats 1/2 of the battle. Anyone else interested in reviving this tradition?

For playing the Malcom in the Middle “circle game”?

They’re just a tiny Iron Range school - suburban Duluth’s Miracle on Ice every single year.

Just gonna throw this out there… After a two-year hiatus, I’m pondering bringing back this formerly-annual WCHA Final Five/NCHC Frozen Faceoff tradition. Is anyone interested in seeing this happen again?
