It's hard to argue that the WCHA is a "poor" conference given the success of Mankato and Ferris last season. Both of those teams played quite well in the NCAA tournament. That does as much for the conference reputation as the respective records of Michigan Tech (slipping a bit lately) and Mankato this season.
