To borrow from "The Naked Gun"... Experts say there's a 50/50 shot at more voters in Round 2...although there's only a 33% chance of that.

And if Kelley left Nodaks out of the equation, he would be accused of trying to put sandbags up to stop the rising tide of that choice. Like I said, he couldn't win either way with this decision. Excellent use of the word "capisce," BTW. Nicely done!

That "fake logo" must be being floated around by the hockey only fans, right?

Only 116 votes separated Nodaks and Roughriders. I'm no fan of Kelley, but he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't with this one.

As opposed to the NoDak Nodaks?

Because by including Nodaks as a choice, it's almost statistically impossible for the final standings to change.

I guess if practically everyone who voted for North Stars or Sundogs now votes for Roughriders, then sure, "wins easily" it is.

So even though the hockey folks apparently prefer Nodaks, you're mad because Kelley is sabotaging Rough Riders?

So now the "Nodaks" folks are b*tching because the rules were changed to INCLUDE their choice in a run-off vote? Unbelievable.

Missed the game - what were his comments and the logic behind them?

For the record, I loved the skate-in-motion logo that the Canucks used to wear. My memory of them is the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals against the Rangers and Pavel Bure flying around the rink. Great jersey and logo!

A write-in vote. The Rough Riding Fighting Sunhawks of Nodak.

If the school name was Dickinson State, then sure, NoDaks or Nodaks would work. When it's North Dakota, Nodak sounds redundant. Kinda the same with North Dakota North Stars - I just don't get the appeal. Vancouver Canucks isn't a fair example because it's not apples to apples. If you went with Boston Bostonians or Detroit Detroiters, then we'd have a valid comparison. With Canucks, we don't. I voted for what I felt was the least crummy out of five crummy choices I was given.
-
Using the Vancouver Canucks as an example would work - if their name was the Canucklandia Canucks. Also, the Canucks have changed their logo and colors a ridiculous number of times in their history, something I don't think UND should be looking at doing at all. The Detroit Red Wings logo, the New York Yankees NY logo, the Dallas Cowboys star logo - now those are logos that stand the test of time - and that's what North Dakota should be trying to find.

Saw that the other night. Milbury's dumbest comment since the "big muff" during the NY Rangers vs Lightning OT game this past Stanley Cup playoffs.

A bloodbath, Goon? Did you forget that Lucic is no longer in Boston?

Sioux suck! = change the name. That's offensive! No-d*ks! No-d*ks! = who cares what our opponents chant at us?

University of north dakota fighting nodaks

And then you started talking about something a hockey coach said two weeks ago. -

So when Roger Thomas removed all Indian imagery from the football jerseys, that's his choice. When the current hockey coach says he likes Nodaks, he needs to be told to keep his mouth shut? For the record, I hate the choice of Nodaks. Wag the sUNDog. -

Say Nodaks. Say Canucks. Doesn't sound stupid. Say North Dakota Nodaks. Say Canucklandia Canucks. Yep, sounds stupid. -

So if the final selection is anything other than Roughriders, it's because of the hockey-only illuminati in Grand Forks? -
As opposed to the Redundancy Redundants if we go with North Dakota Nodaks?

Fargo fans mock, pity UND fans for having "Sundogs" as a finalist

Just cuddle up with your copy of today's Star Tribune and it'll be OK, fs4l. Oh, it's chilly out tonight, so you might want to double up with The Huffington Post too. While you're watching Colbert, of course. -
Nonetheless, that's kinda like being a delegate to the Republican or Democratic national convention...and then not voting in the ensuing residential election.

Posted twice for good measure... http://www.thedickinsonpress.com/news/north-dakota/3863554-native-american-community-remains-divided-und-nickname In short, a nickname "doesn't seem important" and "it's just a nickname," unless it's Fighting Sioux, then it matters. That's exactly what I've thought these anti-nickname folks have felt all along. "We couldn't care less about the nickname...unless it's Fighting Sioux."
