K State game is 2015. They have Northwestern in 2012.

With no quality product on the field no one will show up. Our 3-8 record last doesn't help things and a crappy D2 schedule is even worse.

With 3 D2 teams I predict a big drop.

Would it be the fact that the teams they bring to the Alerus aren't that great. Just how many D1 teams have come to the Alerus that is NOT in the GWFC? I know Stony Brook and Northwestern St.

Last time I check there are no playoffs the last few years. What was our average attendance in the last few years of D2, then talk money. Don't take our attendance during transition because of course attendance will be down.

Maybe since both teams moved into different divisions it voided the schedule automatically.

Maybe its because we are nothing in D1 yet. We are in limbo for the playoffs. A win in non-conference means nothing. 2012 is to be our year. The year of the Big Sky. The year we can make a run to the playoffs. Transition is crap. If the NCAA didn't have a 5 year ban on playoffs people would show up, I know it sounds bad but would you show up for just preseason NFL games or wait until the game means something. Well thats what we have done, 5 years of preseason. The only thing we can win is a GWFC title which I hope we can win this year. Whats the point of getting Austin Peay....PLAYOFFS!!!!!! Whats the point of getting SD Mines.....NOTHING!!! In D2 we played Northern Iowa, first year of transition we played Southern Illinois both on the road...what they can't come here??

I will tell Faison to his face was a stupid fool he is putting SD Mines on the schedule, and Matt is right when there is nothing worth watching at the Alerus people are not going to spend the money to go, and its not that we don't support the team; but its the same why fans don't care about NFL preseason games which this game is its 3 hrs of boring football because nothing is on the line.

Seems like Mr. Taylor has no problems finding the FCS directory and getting teams to Fargo. 2006 was the last time a non D-I team was on their schedule.

My biggest argument is playoffs. Yes to quote Jim Mora "Playoffs?". I think FCS would draw more knowing there is more at stake.

If they need my help to solve the scheduling problem have Faison call me. I will give him a list of FCS teams in the nation. There are a lot of them including some in our new conference to choose from and don't tell me UND is strapped for cash. Thats BS!!! You telling me NDSU has more cash than UND??? They have no problems scheduling FCS teams.

I would. I went to the Potato Bowl game last year against NE Oklahoma St. Because I figured this would be the last time they were known as the Fighting Sioux and wanted my son to go to his first Sioux game to be memorable. Well after the crap schedule that is D2 teams this year (the only good NC home game is Drake) I won't be going to any Sioux games this season. In 2012 I would like to see the Sioux against BSC games or Central Arkansas, but SD Mines....all I have to say is I won't be there.

Sorry but most people are on budgets and some work on weekends and those like me who would have to take a vacation day from work, drive 80 miles to see the Sioux play SD Mines? I think not. I am not going to waste money on a game that means nothing. People will come when we are out of the GWFC and into the BSC and when playoffs are on the line, but when we play teams that have the same meaning as they do now....what's the point?

This is the key argument. Are fans going to care if we win or lose to D2 teams when it does NOT count towards the playoffs..NO!!! Just ask Montana the risk of playing D2 teams. Any FCS team is acceptable doormat or not when you tell the average Sioux fan if we win we are closer to the playoffs but if we win against SD Mines it means.....NOTHING, its like playing an exhibition game in the middle of the season. Get rid of this game!

I wish instead of the D2 game we could play USD. It would be a fun game, and draw a hell of a bigger crowd than SD school of Mines.

I think 2013 is the 12 week season. Why are we still scheduling D2 teams? 2012 we are playoff eligible and there is no playoff help by playing a D2 team. Do you see NDSU playing them..NO! There are other BSC teams not a "conference game" why not play them. Enough of the no crowd games against D2 schools. Whats next another Sioux Falls game in 2013?

WDAZ at 6pm had a story about the Alerus getting new turf. They might go to a grass turf but it would cost 4 million dollars and the earliest would be 2012 before it would be installed if approved.
