  1. Willful ignorance is not a virtue. Isn’t learning that your vote doesn’t count leading to decreased voter turnout the democratic argument for voter disenfranchisement? You’re losing touch on your liberal talking points.
  2. Nationally? Yes, I have a problem with a direct vote. You’re wrong about the effect it would have. It would actually eliminate a massive sector of US citizens from having any voice at all. It would decrease voter turnout and lead to a revolution and that’s not an exaggeration.
  3. Mob rule is what a direct vote would create. How long do you think it would take smaller states to rebel if they had zero voice in the national elections. Every election would be determined out of their control.
  4. What do you mean by slavery “determined the 3/5 compromise”. By your logic, the north are the racist ones since the south would have been better off leaving it a direct election and letting the freed slaves count as a full votes. The electoral college isn’t oppressive or rooted in slavery. You are conflating how votes were negotiated to be counted for the slaves by both sides with the very idea of the electoral college being because of slavery. It’s not.
  5. You are misinterpreting facts. To state something is “because” of slavery implies that the slavery is the cause of it. This is simply not the case.
  6. Cowardly as usual.
  7. This one again huh? Beyond ridiculous.
  8. You don't ever make a lick of sense. You make a completely asinine statement and then when confronted with the obvious folly of your statement you completely go on a tangent that has nothing to do with your original statement.
  9. What an ignorant statement. Fiscal conservatism has kept capital in the hands of the innovators, private sector innovation in an infinite number of cases has progressed our country and the world forward for hundreds of years. It’s a complete different paradigm for you I’m sure, but government isn’t the only way to advance society, in fact it’s a rather inefficient way, in my opinion.
  10. That’s not the point you were making. You were saying that “preppers” are hypocrites if they make fun of people who are for the precautions that have been taken for Covid. Some of those precautions weren’t made by choice and ruined lives. Not the same thing as personally preparing for unrest that most people believe will be worse in the weeks following the election, regardless of the outcome.
  11. One of those is a choice, the other is government mandated. You know that comparison doesn’t hold any water.
  12. ...a hail storm that the meteorologist said would be basketball sized hail and it turned out to be pea-sized.
  13. Who is the bottom pictures supposedly describing? I know a ton more left leaning folks who are 5G, Bill Gates and Vaccine “fearers” than right leaning people.
  14. Isn't this more fun than your usual MO in posting. You're actually presenting an opinion and defending it and it's been 3-4 posts since you insulted someone. Maybe this is a new Hayduke1?
  15. This is where you have no idea what you are talking about. Of course people support the ideas, what they don't support when you actually look into the details is how to accomplish such things. You know, those pesky little real world details. I'm gonna take a poll of americans and see who supports everybody getting 10k a year from their employer to take a 2 week Caribbean vacation. Wonder what percentage of people would support that?
  16. As a practical matter, this would be infinitely more effective than most masks I see because everybody would definitely stay 6+ feet away from this guy.
  17. What world do you live in where you actually believe that over half the country supports the green new deal?
  18. But he did endorse your candidate and spoke at the DNC, so his credibility is absolutely relevant in current events.
  19. A politician made a misleading statement? I just simply cannot believe such upstanding folks would stoop to such a level as to mislead the American people.
  20. "You guys want evidence that my opinion is correct? Here's one other guy on the internet that agrees with me"
  21. Hayduke is simply a product of today's internet culture. He thinks posting a meme and name calling is an actual argument/discussion point. I see it all the time and it is the opposite of what is necessary to further an important conversation.
  22. Yet another valuable contribution to the conversation.
  23. You have zero leg to stand on when critiquing how clever and original someone’s responses are.
  24. Exactly. The real disease is the identity policies that have normalized being able to assume stereotypes. When I grew up, I was encouraged to judge each person on their actions individually. It seems we have gotten further away from individual identities and it is very harmful.
  25. If I could like this 1000x, I would. Fear of someone is all in how they are presenting themselves, right or wrong. If I see a person who is well groomed, walking tall and confident and making eye contact, I’m not fearful. In the absence of those things, I’m keeping my eyes on you for any quick movements and I’ll react accordingly. (Notice how I didn’t mention race, these are universal truths and we are hardwired genetically to see certain dress patterns, posture and body language to obtain cues about trust and fear)
