  1. You could very well be right, Latinos are no more monolithic than any other demographic I suppose. I’m just speaking for the ones I’ve spoken to personally.
  2. I can’t say I agree with this based on my experience. Immigrants who came here legally tend to be the biggest opponents to illegal immigrants.
  3. I think two things are likely true with Chauvin and George Floyd. 1. Chauvin has zero business laying on his neck for that long, he needs to be held accountable for his actions, whatever the lawyers decide he deserves is ok with me. 2. George Floyd would likely still be alive if he didn’t also have the fentanyl in his system and then get subjected to the Chauvins knee. Both things played a role in his death I believe and that in no way is me defending Chauvin.
  4. You said police aren’t doing their job, based on what? I’m making the point that to compare them with firefighters is silly because their jobs are so much harder.
  5. Your perspective on police is disturbing. Firefighters, heroes in their own right, don’t have 1/10th the danger and criticism on the job that police do. Firefighters show up and fight a faceless, nameless enemy that has zero grey area. Everyone agrees fires are bad and needs to be dealt with. Police do not.
  6. Why the unnecessary race reference in your post? As if black people and people of color aren’t disturbed by watching riots unfold in their cities.
  7. After watching the conventions and the polling responses and market trends. I have to say I agree. Not sure on the landslide, but becoming quite confident he’ll win.
  8. If you’ll need the money in the 6-12 months following you may consider it. Otherwise, buy while it’s on sale.
  9. Absolutely, just hoping and praying they can find cases.
  10. I wonder if the media will track Covid cases following this March. The hypocrisy is obvious to anyone objective.
  11. The CDC has become a parody of itself. This organization is supposedly the authority on infectious disease for the entire human race and they can't even decide if masks and/or tests should be done.(Depending on the month) The American people have lost trust in anything the CDC says and it's showing.
  12. How, in your opinion, has Shapiro made a fool of himself?
  13. "But it's ok, because they are insured" What a ridiculous thing to say to someone who just lost everything.
  14. You don’t actually think the nfl finding out all of their positives were false positives were isolated incidents do you? They were only found out because they were able to retest, no everybody has that capability. This thing is far more widespread already and the testing has been shown to be unreliable, so what the hell are we doing making life-changing decisions on faulty information?
  15. Information can absolutely be a bad thing if that information isn't correct. Look what recently happened in the NFL. False positives absolutely are happening and that is leading to completely unnecessary measures being taken, which includes the closure of schools in my son's district. Completely unnecessary and is going to have a real cost associated with it in these kid' education.
  16. The relationship between the black community and the police is severely broken and in a cycle that can’t self correct. Cops in places of high crime/poverty are going to be viewed as the enemy. Adults in those communities will teach their children they are not to be trusted and the police will be a self fulfilling prophecy in those communities because they continue to be high crime areas and cops won’t stop arresting(overpolice, if you view it from the other side) criminals. If kids grow up thinking cops are the enemy, they can never break the cycle.
  17. Can’t say I disagree with you here. Police clearing the streets immediately following peaceful protests has to be the lesson we take away from all of this. Protest during the agreed upon times, in the agreed upon places and all is well. Outside of those times and places, you will be arrested, period.
  18. If you watch in real time, there is less than a minute between him shooting someone and when you believe the police should have been aware of that via dispatch and positively identified him in order to make an arrest. Your asking too much for the communication chain.
  19. You seem to be missing that the guy he shot was also carrying.
  20. You said if a black man had done what this kid had done he’d be dead. I disagree. This kid, based on the other videos of them being chummy with police was likely known to the police and his intentions there were also known. Him being black or white is irrelevant in this case. His purpose for being there, if anything, is the reason he was likely given more latitude. Right or wrong, I think that’s debatable. But he isn’t alive because he’s white, that’s just more racial BS if you ask me from the media. Show me a video of a white dude running from police, resisting arrest and stealing a cops taser(combining many of our current events) who gets to not get shot at and I’ll believe your double standard argument.
  21. Why is the obvious not being stated here? In real time, not looking back with all of the knowledge we have now, the police didn’t have any clue that this kid shot two people. Their delay in arresting him isn’t some white privilege mystery. The police knew some young men were carrying guns, so just seeing a kid carrying a gun wouldn’t have alarmed them. All they had to go on was some dude yelling “that guy just shot two people”, which they might not even been able to hear with helmets on inside their cars. He walked up to them with his hands up and didn’t look like a threat. Had they known what we know now, they likely would’ve arrested him. When they gained that knowledge they arrested him. No mystery to me here.
  22. Race rhetoric and telling black people they can’t get ahead in America as it currently exists.
  23. If Minneapolis had done exactly what Trump recommended in May, Minneapolis’ third precinct would still be standing. They finally realized that last night and the results speak for themselves.
  24. Except the elected officials in Minneapolis I guess.
  25. Depends on who you ask. I found Obama to be the most divisive president in my lifetime. Perspective is everything.
