In addition to the things you mentioned, early outbreaks were nearly exclusively among the population most vulnerable to this. As it makes it's way through the rest of us, the survival rate will continue to climb.

With many of the schools being open and sports happening. Has there been any sort of increase in hospitalizations or deaths in people under 60 years old?

I’m sure it speaks to their opinion on their constituents a bit, but I think it harkens back to a point I’ve made before on this thread, politicians are awful people. Across the board. They see a fear or a talking point that works and they’ll hammer it regardless of whether or not it’s ethical or even true. They’ll say whatever they need to win an election. That’s why policy is the only thing that I vote on. What will you to do change lives with your vote and your influence? Your personal life means nothing to me.

You know for a lawyer, you make a lot of immature, weak and petty arguments. Hope you don't charge your clients for these sort of arguments.
-
I'm not sure about the above, but if you don't think that people's minds are being manipulated in an extremely sophisticated manner, watch the Netlix Documentary The Social Dilemma. I've already deleted most of my social media apps.

I’m firm enough in my belief that it would be a human rights travesty that even though in your scenario it favors “my side”, I’m still against it for all of the reasons I laid out.

The electoral college is a trump cult creation? Wow, trump is more powerful than we all thought, able to affect the voting in the United States so many years before he was born.
-
You’re pointing out flaws in a system while touting another system that would make the problems you state exponentially worse.
-
In a country as regionalized as ours in its voting patterns? Yes, 1 citizen, 1 vote is too simplistic and would lead to an absolute disaster.

Cute

If you weren’t busy rolling on the floor maybe you’d learn a thing or two by reading this thread.
-
What state do you live in?
-
100 people are in a room, 51 of them vote to kill the other 49. Democracy has flaws.
-
Willful ignorance is not a virtue. Isn’t learning that your vote doesn’t count leading to decreased voter turnout the democratic argument for voter disenfranchisement? You’re losing touch on your liberal talking points.
-
Nationally? Yes, I have a problem with a direct vote. You’re wrong about the effect it would have. It would actually eliminate a massive sector of US citizens from having any voice at all. It would decrease voter turnout and lead to a revolution and that’s not an exaggeration.
-
Mob rule is what a direct vote would create. How long do you think it would take smaller states to rebel if they had zero voice in the national elections. Every election would be determined out of their control.
-
What do you mean by slavery “determined the 3/5 compromise”. By your logic, the north are the racist ones since the south would have been better off leaving it a direct election and letting the freed slaves count as a full votes. The electoral college isn’t oppressive or rooted in slavery. You are conflating how votes were negotiated to be counted for the slaves by both sides with the very idea of the electoral college being because of slavery. It’s not.
-
You are misinterpreting facts. To state something is “because” of slavery implies that the slavery is the cause of it. This is simply not the case.
-
Cowardly as usual.
-
This one again huh? Beyond ridiculous.
-
You don't ever make a lick of sense. You make a completely asinine statement and then when confronted with the obvious folly of your statement you completely go on a tangent that has nothing to do with your original statement.
-
What an ignorant statement. Fiscal conservatism has kept capital in the hands of the innovators, private sector innovation in an infinite number of cases has progressed our country and the world forward for hundreds of years. It’s a complete different paradigm for you I’m sure, but government isn’t the only way to advance society, in fact it’s a rather inefficient way, in my opinion.
-
That’s not the point you were making. You were saying that “preppers” are hypocrites if they make fun of people who are for the precautions that have been taken for Covid. Some of those precautions weren’t made by choice and ruined lives. Not the same thing as personally preparing for unrest that most people believe will be worse in the weeks following the election, regardless of the outcome.
-
One of those is a choice, the other is government mandated. You know that comparison doesn’t hold any water.
