Another positive from the weekend. 5 for 8 on the power play, and 9 for 9 on the penalty kill. (And yes, I realize LSSU doesn't have very impressive special teams numbers, but these are great numbers for UND.)

Heard Kevin Gorg on KFAN yesterday. He said something along the lines of "Minnesota will have no problem with Michigan State this weekend" and alluded to an expected blowout.

Bemidji has played the 4th toughest schedule in the nation.

Hypothetically, let's say Hakstol's team made it to the championship game every year for the next 4 years, but lost the final game each of those years. Would you say it's time for him to go? My opinion is that it's ridiculous for fans to expect national titles in a one-and-done playoff format. This is hockey. There's a reason the NHL plays 7-game series to determine the best team in each round. Does anybody believe the NCAA championship winners would have looked the same over the past 10 years if a 3 or 5 or 7 game series were used to determine the winner each round? Personally, I'd like to take my chances with a guy who has proven he'll have our team in the hunt pretty much every year. As long as that continues to be the case, I'd let him have the job for as long as he wants it, and I'd also be willing to bet he'll win one or two (maybe more) before all is said and done.

As much as I have confidence in UND making the NCAA tournament, they are in no way a lock at this point. All it would take is a loss against LSSU along with a mediocre performance the rest of the way to make them a bubble team. That Bemidji loss really hurt. I'd be curious to know where we'd be in the PWR if we'd have won that game.

Apparently a couple voters are still impressed with UMTC despite a 1-3 record in their last 4 games (not to mention an exhibition loss).

Only previous meetings between UND & Lake Superior was a series in Grand Forks, December 14-15, 1973. UND won those games by scores of 7-3 & 7-2.

I was at the game and I couldn't agree more. Looked like a far cry from a 1st rounder.

I like the idea of SuperSonics, as a nod to the Aerospace department. It's definitely unique, and not being used anymore by any major sports teams.

Stecher has become my favorite player on this team. I love how he plays the game. If anybody wants to see a prime example of what he brings to this team, watch his shift about 30 seconds before the Parks goal in the first period on Friday night, where he takes away the puck in the D-zone and joins the rush. It's almost a shame that nothing shows up on the stat sheet for his effort that helped lead to that goal. Excited to watch him in a Sioux jersey for 2.5 more years.

I think we could see Boston U at #1, as they were #3 last week and didn't lose this weekend (despite only playing one game). I would expect Tech to be #2, with UND dropping to #3 off the split this weekend. UMTC should drop to #4, but a surprising number of voters will still give them first-place votes, even though they are 3-3 in their last 6 games.

Not sure if it's confirmed or just speculation, but Dave mentioned in his preview that neither LaDue or MacMillan would be playing this weekend.
