  1. JK-- you're right about the fact that the as a unit as a whole being much more physical that 99-00, but I remeber my freshman year watching Commodore, who was always one of the main focal players on the ice behind Goering and Panzer, and waiting to see who he will lay out next. Maybe (hopefully) my perception of the game has changed but now every time I see Greene on the ice I am waiting for him to take a penalty. I also know that Greene is a freshman and as he gets older he will learn where his boundries are, so he doesnt take so many penalites. Give him time and he'll be fine. (Does any one know if Greene has been drafted by anyone?) I agree that we have a very physical core of D-men but they now lack the offensive possibilities of 1999. I can't remember how many times I have swore at Schneekloth for his defensive play, but he was always an offensive threat, as was Roche, but he was a much better all-around player (Scott Neidemeyer-esque) When now our team's defense is more like some Scott Stevens type players who will shoot from the point but not much else. A team needs both to be successful. Just as an offense needs to have good forecheckers and grinders just as they need goal scorers. Maybe Schnieder can take on somewhat of an offensive role, hes got a decent cannon. Or maybe a new guy can fill that hole too. p.s. The guy in the apartment across the hall is cooking bacon..it smells damn good.
  2. I think that UND's defense has been missing something since Mike Commodore graduated. Commie was always a dominant force on the ice and no one would ever mess with him. There is something to be said for the intimidation factor. I was looking at Collegehockeystats.com at UNDs roster in 1999-2000 Trevor Hammer- 6-0 180 Leinweber (never really played much that year) Tim O'connel 6-4 210 Travis Roche 6-1 190 Commodore 6-4 225 Aaron Schneekloth 5-11 185 (should have been a winger on a checking line, but thats a different topic) Chad Mazurak 5-10 175 It seems like we dont have as many threats (score or physical) on the blue line anymore, Matt Greene has potential to be that force, but he takes way to many stupid penaltys. Schnider has calmed down since last year and has become very solid. We really miss Travis Roche who at times seems that the Sioux would not score unless the puck touched Roches' stick. Dave Hale is trully missed is probably the best player on the team. (I said it, Hale is Better than Parise, look at the teams record with out Parise and without Hale) I do think Greene and Jonesy are the future of the Sioux defence, Greene could be that intimidating force if he learns to keep the stick on the ice (and on one hand as to not cross check everybody) But I guess my point it HALE WE MISS YOU!!!! COME BACK SOON!!!
  3. Being a witness at Mankato this weekend I saw a Sioux team play well both nights. The first night they hit the post 3 times and Volp made 2 or 3 jaw dropping saves. You know the ones where you could have sworn you saw the puck go into the net but somehow it appeared in the goalies glove. Ranny played really well and had more than his share of great saves. The game was played about as hard and even as I have ever seen, either team could have one that game, unfortunatly the bounce didnt go our way. On Saturday, the game was decided between the pipes... The Sioux got out to an early start but Ranny let by a couple soft goals, 2 or 3 of them depending on how hard you are on him. Jensen was rock solid. He stoped about every thing that was thrown at him. I dont care how well a team plays if a goalie gives up a few soft goals, and the other guys stops 48 out of 52 you are not going to win. In defence of the Sioux, Mankato was extremely fired up for the series. The Sioux overall played well all weekend and unfortinatly never got the "lucky bounce" that they needed to take the game. I dont think there is the answer to the Sioux goalie question, but what we got now aint doing, Ranny might be the best shot right now but I dont know if he is the solution to the problem at all. There are times at which I am inclined to question Coach Blais' affininty for small goalies but Karl Goering had great sucess despite being on the short side. My adivice would be to comeback next year with some dark horse prospect that no one has heard of and give him a chance to make tracks, it might just be crazy enough to work!!!
  4. Its going to be sweeeeet. I will enjoy it (hopefully) throughly!!!!!!! and hey PCM... thanks for doin the work to get this stuff on the website
  5. I will do my best.... Batman is pissed
  6. They'll sweep Mankato... Ill be there to see sure of it...
  7. just remember Dubie is bald!!!!!
  8. The ref hates us. TH "The offiaciating consistency has been 'special'"
  9. no.... TH is having a grand old time bitching about the refs and the ice, and the lack of a squeegeeee. And some one finally got one TH has never been happier.
  10. yes....If the sioux loose we are behind the Golder Chokers by 1 point.
  11. LUNDBOHM GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL
  12. I'll try.. Oh by the way the Gophers are murdering U of W 7-1 at the BEGINING of the 3rd
  13. I've been banging the proverbial head against the proverbial wall.... all the while screaming..... SCORE DAMNIT SCORE or Wade Dubielewicz is BALD
  14. I would just like to say that Wade Dubielewicz is bald. So no matter how many saves he makes... he's still balding. The radio sounds a little muddled in Grand Forks too... Dont feel bad.
  15. I'd just like to say for the record... That the Denver goal occured at the exact same time as Barry Tallackson scored in the U of M game. Really wierd! I got the radio on and the TV muted.
  16. HOLY CRAP---- BLAIS STARTED RANFRANZ
  17. Give Parise and Bochenski a year or too (assuming they stick around) and they will be at the top of that list. As for this year Peter Sejna is playing insanely well. I like Spiewak as much as the next guy, but I don;t know if he has the numbers to win a hobey, but hey you never know!.
  18. Best of Luck to Bayda, but you all know you would have loved to see him play between (or next to) Bochenski and Parise... that would have been sweeet.
  19. May be the Wookie told his brother to "Get a haircut and a shave"
  20. The Durno at Tech is the Wookie's older brother.
  21. Fornier got in to a "dissagreement" with Blais and he transfered to UAA. We'll see him in the Green and Yellow of the sea wolves jersey next year, he had to sit this one out.
  22. I dunno, I think some one should fork out for the Palmo, Liene or Faul jersey. And where did all the Schneekloth jerseys go!!! And just for every ones info--- UND trio programs in running a raffle for $1 a ticket and the winner gets a Jersey signed by the team, second prize is a stick signed by the team, and the third prize is one of those schedual poster signed by the team. They were there selling tickets in the Union around noon today and I would assume the same for tommorow. Its sweeeet.
