Although attendance was quite disappointing, the crowd was surprisingly loud. There were a few "LET'S GO SIOUX" chants throughout the night and the place was rocking when UND made its comeback. I believe student ticket packages were $40. The lower bowl of the student section was full, the top sections were about one third full. The the rest of the arena, the top corner sections were bare and the lower bowl was spotty in some sections. Hopefully there is a better showing tonight.

Not that I've seen, but it would make sense considering UNO had to drop out of the Winnipeg game this year, and at the time it sounded like UND and UNO had hoped to team up on another event. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Not Target Field, but I did see this on twitter: Interesting. I'm not particularly fond of outdoor hockey games as I think the novelty is wearing thin, but this could be fun.

It's Media Day so we should hopefully get some news this afternoon.

Secured SRO tickets for the Sioux-Goph series at Mariucci Nov. 4, 5. The system malfunctioned at the start of the sale and I thought I missed out on tickets completely. When I got to my office I decided to check again and was able to snag a few.

I'm not sure what to make of anticipated attendance for this tournament. On one hand, I have a friend who called nearly every hotel in town looking for a room, but was unable to find one, and on the other hand, I've seen dozens of tickets for sale on SiouxSports and Craigslist. Add to that, REA is now offering discounted tickets to UND faculty/staff. I understand that it's not the easiest road trip for fans of BC, Mich. St., and Air Force as GFK is not a cheap place to fly into. Hopefully there will be a decent turnout for all the games, but at the very least, for the Sioux games.

Really enjoyed the game tonight. It was great to be back at The Ralph for another season of Sioux hockey. The new pre-game video is fantastic! I got chills watching it - highlights a lot of history/tradition. The new video boards are great, very clear picture. So many new names and numbers to learn. It was odd seeing #22, #5, #21, etc. on the ice and not seeing Malone, Genoway, and Frattin on the nameplate. That will definitely take some getting used to. I thought the freshies played well. It will be fun watching them progress throughout the season. And even though it won't count as an official goal, I was happy to see Gaarder score his first goal in a Sioux uniform. He was grinning from ear to ear as he skated to the bench to celebrate. It was also nice to see Maris get a little playing time. Next week should be a good test for our young squad.

According to the REA Facebook page, the 2011 WCHA Championship banner will be raised Saturday night. Hopefully there's a nice crowd in attendance.
