  1. What does winning percentage have to do with number of starts?

    Winning percentage= wins/number of games

    Correct?

And Lucia still doesn't have a formidable backup for Briggs.

Pray that Briggs stays healthy. :D:silly:

  2. Unfortunately, not all of his stats are better.

    Winning percentage: Briggs - 83.3%; Lamourex - 64.3%

Lammy can't help it that the Sioux have 3 good goalies that are all trying to get playing time, so he doesn't start as many games as Briggs. Hakstol has been rotating Lammy and Jpar.

Just because Lucia doesn't have the luxury of having a good backup goalie shouldn't be used as a stat against Lammy. :D

  3. I just think all of the pieces are coming together for the gophers and it really makes me mad because they might be good for a few more years.

They are cruising to the Virg Foss trophy for early season excellence, much like the Sioux did last season.

They are indeed an impressive team. I don't envy the teams that have to play against them at Mariucci in their regional, I hope the Sioux are not there.

Either way, the season's long, the WCHA is crazy, the hockey will be fun to watch.

  4. And should the Sioux jump in?  No.  We shouldn't waste our breath.  Why?  Because USCHO's recruiting ticker has reported that he has narrowed his choice of schools down to Wisconsin and Minnesota.

If you read the recruiting article on USCHO, it says that he still has BC, BU, Mich, Minnie, Wisco, and UND as his choices.

While it is good to see UND in his final 6 for potential schools, I'm not holding my breath that he will end up here. I think he is bound for Minnie, Mich, or Wisco. Wisco because he is from Wisconsin. Mich because he is on the USNDT which resides in Mich. I'm not sure why any non-Minnesotan, a Wisco-born player noless, would choose Minnie, but whatever floats his boat.:ohmy:

Either way, he will definitely boost whatever program's class that he decides to commit to. He is the real deal. He is the Zach Parise of the 05 class.

  5. looks like my buddies are cool with it we will all be out of town so wont be able to go if you need more seats the people behind us in the 2nd row probably wont be able to attend the game either so let me know and you can email me at moss1fan@hotmail.com and we can figure out a place to meet.  Thanks, Cory

    Thanks alot man!!

    Much appreciated!

  6. I'll take them for sure if they are in Section 108 and will almost certainly take them if they are in 109. Don't be mean, $6/ticket ($48 total). That's the normal price for student tickets. I guarantee you I'll find 3 other people to buy the other seats. Just give me a little time. Where are they? Section 108 or 109?

We need these tickets. We gave the Wookie his name. We need front row tickets for Canisius so we can taunt him.

And I am hardcore, as are all the people who will sit with me. I've missed two games total in 6 years.

I'm in Diggler's group. We would really like these tickets. All four of us (Diggler, MNS, Forecheck, and myself) are hardcore fans who have been cheering on the Sioux for years. We would appreciate them greatly. :)

Plus Forecheck is in love with the Wookie. She needs to be as close to him as possible, thus she needs front row seats. :D

  7. MTU was playing injured. They had the leagues best QB who was injured against GVSU. GVSU is a very unpredictable team. They have the best potential of all the GLIAC teams. It will be a battle next week at the Alerus. If any team can beat UND at Alerus it is GVSU. It will be a great game.

Didn't you say that there was no way that UND would Tech at home even without the injured players? :D

Looks like it just happened! :)

  8. I move that "State of Hockey" be banned from this site.  As well as any other assholes who enjoy "wasting space" here.

I'll agree as well. No actual posts come out of State Of Hockey. Just a bunch of trolling.

  9. Measured.  Like I said, the biggest thing UND has going for them is the fact that Toews returned to SSM this year when he could have reported to Tri City.

The drawback is that if he comes to UND, he will probably not stay long.  2 years tops.

I would say that it is 60-40 right now with 60 being WHL and 40 UND.

I heard somewhere that Toews' mom is a teacher, and they are also focused on him getting a college education. So WHL would seem like an illogical choice for him. That would also explain why he stayed at SSM instead of going to the USHL.

I would say that there is a great chance that he will go the college route, we just have to hope that he ends up playing for the Sioux.

  10. You guys ever heard of Gordon Lightfoots's "Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald"?  Lake Superior ain't no picnic.

The lake that is said never gives up her dead.

Went to the Edmund Fitzgerald marine museum last year when I was visiting a friend that used to live in the Soo.

  11. As one of the GVSU voices here, guess I should say something here I guess.  I am kinda torn here about all these, do I pull for Tech and GLIAC dominanance or do I really wish to bring down Lakers-Sioux III upon us all?

Sucks that the NCAA had to schedule both NCC teams against each other in the first round game, otherwise we may still have two NCC teams going for all the marbles. But I understand that the regional rankings worked out that way.

I would also like to see UND/GVSU at the Al.

  12. Who in their right mind would want to go to a school that was once a top team in the country, but now has an unproven coach, and is losing games.

These guys don't seem to have a problem playing for an "unproven coach that is losing games":

    Andrew Kozek-LC (10/1/04) Surrey (BCHL) 5'11 175 6-8-86 58-19-22-41-67

    Matt Watkins-LC (9/26/04) Vernon (BCHL) 5'10 175 11-22-86 2004 SMHL

    Zach Jones-RD (7/26/04) USNDPT U-18 Team 5'11 175 1-14-87

    Chris Vandevelde-LW (6/8/04) Moorhead 6'2 180 3-15-87 (for 2006)

    Brad Miller-LW (3/12/04) Green Bay (USHL) 5'10 170 1-31-86

    T.J. Oshie-LC (2/5/04) Warroad 5'10 165 12-23-86

    Brian Lee-RD (2/3/04) Moorhead 6'2 180 3-27-87 2004 USA U-18 team;

    Ryan Duncan-RW (12/18/03) Salmon Arm (BCHL) 5'6 155 7-14-85

    Taylor Chorney-LD (10/23/03) Shattuck St.Marys 5'10 170 4-27-87 2004

Keep in mind that alot of them commited with Hakstol as the head coach of the Sioux.

  13. The effort in Wisconsin through a good part of the weekend was GREAT.  They totally dominated parts of both games, especially the second period tonight, and if it werent for Bruckler the score would be different for both games.  Seriously, how many times do we have to say "Remember DU last year, or UMinn, etc" before people understand that peaking at the right time is key.

A Sioux fan with common sense. Nice to see these days.

    I agree.

  14. But i can see that your such a sage, to be begiled to such foolishness.......b/c your last statment didn't sound like paranoia at all!?

As i have said, as fans we have the right to critisize Hakstol by a lackluster season thus far by the sioux.  But evidantly individuals such as yourself are happy that the season is going so splendidly.....that losing top recruits was something that could not have been avoided.

    SCREW YOU!!!!

Wow, I guess you are right. Hakstol is the element that is driving this Sioux team on an unrecoverable downward spiral.

The team will never be the same, the program will never win another game, let alone another championship.

So we should hire another coach for you to complain about and call for their firing.

I stand by my team, through thick and thin. I will agree that their record could be better thus far, but I see potential in this team. I also will critisize when I get frustrated with the team, but you are going to another level with your complaining. It is November. If I recall, championships aren't won or lost for another 5 months. That's alot of hockey to be played.

  15. Oh OK and you have some insider information on this? Blais was a hell of a recruiter. I do not think that coach Hak would have lured Parise to UND! If Blais was still coach, NDwould have had a good shot at Kessel. Not that he is a Parise but he will be a good player.

For the second time, Hakstol did most of the recruiting even when Blais was head coach.

And about Kessel, he has pretty much always had the same teams on his list:

BC, BU, Minnie, Mich, and Wisco.

UND was never listed as a possible school in any of the articles that I saw.

  16. Secondly, most of the starters on this team played last year. You make it sound as if they are putting skates on for the first time and we should all be happy that they score maybe 1 or 2 goals a night?

The only thing dangerous about Hakstol is his ablility to lose games, lose recruits, lose fans at games, lose sponsership, and hopefully lose his job.

Yep, you have some problems. Yes, this is a dangerous Sioux team, but fairweather fans such as yourself don't realize the potential that they show.

No, I didn't make it sound as if I was happy that we should be happy with their scoring right now. You are good at trying to put words in people's mouths. I said that the players that we have are in different roles than last year. Look at Rory. He was a defensive forward, face-off specialist the last few years, but now he has to change his game to become more offensive-oriented. This takes time.

I get the feeling that you are not a Sioux fan, rather just a fan of an opposing team that is on here just trying to strike fear into the average Sioux fan. Go back to your teams' message board and leave the real Sioux fans here in peace.

  17. Blaise......took a program that had a hard time winning.......brought them back to a respectable level of play.....and took it from there.

Hakstol......took a winning program and has shown them how to lose.

This team has great talent on it.....and right now it appears that Hak does not  know how to use it, and for that matter, seems to be in over his head. This is D-1 hockey, and he needs to coach like it.

For being such a BLAIS lover, you still have trouble spelling BLAIS.

Hakstol took over a winning team that lost alot of talent. The guys that are here now were thrust into leader and scoring roles this year, and they are not used to that. They will get used to their roles, and this team will still be dangerous. With Hakstol as the coach.

  18. I agree with Diggler here.

Neoflexx, you need to chill out. The Sioux have played 9 of their 12 games against teams ranked in the top 8. They are 5-5-2 in that span. Yeah, it could be better, but I also think that they didn't play that bad this weekend. They took too many penalties last night, but they just couldn't find the back of the net.

You keep saying that the Sioux get outshot every game, but they just outshot the Badgers tonight.

You keep saying that Hakstol won't be able to get the big recruits, but he is the one that has been the main recruiting guy even when Blais was the coach.

You say that he was stupid for pulling the goalie, but I bet you thought Blais was a genuis when he did that. People only choose to remember the times that it did work, but it also backfired on Blais numerous times when he pulled the goalie.

You guys keep pinning Hakstol as the scapegoat here, but he is not the one on the ice. Now we can hopefully get some wins the next few weeks against SCSU, UAA, and Tech to shut all you idiots up.
