Warroad 1-0 after 1 against STA. Goal came after a double dangle (how's she goin, how's she goin) by Hardwick at the point. Really sweet move. Warroad looks better to me than they did Wednesday, Oshie included. Not much for results yet, but a pretty dominant first period, especially defensively.
Oshie scores 6 sec into the 2nd period to put Warroad up 2-0. Nice snipe from TJ to beat the goalie.
The physical Warroad dmen are doing a good job of neutralizing the smaller STA forwards (including that little 8th grader Schroeder).
Warroad now scores again after a nice rush.
3-0 War

Good game going here between WBL and Duluth East. DE takes a penalty with a few min left in game, WBL pulls goalie for a 6x4 adv.
WBL can't capitalize though...
Game over.
DE wins 3-2. First tight game of the tourney.

MIA-has anyone checked your milk cartons?
Someone should call in next Wed to the Coaches Show if Kyle doesn't play against SCSU.
-
What about Radke?
I wonder that as well. He was starting to come around, now he hasn't played in the last few series.

Duluth Marshall blows out Little Falls, 9-2.
More fun tomorrow...

You know, the more I think of it, I really hope Kessel gets a ton of media and hype all through his college career. I remember when ZParise was getting a ton of national coverage before, and after, he came to campus, and I think it really affected the team and the fans negatively.
Hell, I hope ESPN, The New York Times, the Globe and Mail and Fox News follow him every waking moment of the day, and hound him in the locker room to the exclusion of his team mates and coach. As a matter of fact, I think I'll email the sports desk at NYT and let them know that the greatest hockey player since Maurice Richard is going to announce a college on Friday, or perhaps next week ...
We'll get ahold of his phone number through the campus directory and call him at all hours of the night....

What channel are these games on in GF? I would guess they'd be on FSN channel 51...but I know they used to be on channel 9....just lookin for some certainty...
Channel 9.

FINAL
Warroad 6
Albert Lea 1
Aaron Marvin with 2 Goals.
Oshie looked good. Great move to get a beauty of an assist on their 5th goal.
He looks big, and looks to have good hands. It will be fun seeing him in a Sioux uni in the future.

Toews is a bit younger and already as big if not bigger.
SSM website has Toews at 6-1, 180lbs.

Brady did skate with the team yesterday.
Was he wearing a "don't hit me" jersey? (I forget which color they are )
I would think that Brady could wait until the end of the season to get the surgery (if needed) and still be back to play for next year. If he got the surgery in April, with the 4-6 months of rehab, he would be back to full health at latest by Sept.
That said, I hope that he can make it back into the lineup this year...

St Thomas walks all over Virginia in the first game, 8-2. Niskanen (UMD) scores one of the two Virginia goals. An 8th grader, Schroeder, for St Thomas gets 4 points (2g, 2a).
Up next is Warroad vs Albert Lea.

Kessel's girlfriend and some of his closest friends from the NTDP will be on
the Minneapolis campus in the fall.
Girlfriend's going to Minnie? That makes the decision easy for him....

the Spuds averaged 1,347 fans per home game this winter. Though that figure is still well below the actual average paid attendance -- Hulbert estimated 90 percent of season-ticket holders were regulars at boys hockey games -- it was more than the NCAA Division I North Dakota State University men's and women's basketball teams until Saturday's doubleheader against South Dakota State.
Nice find.

I know a group of about 20 individuals who didn't make the trip in from Fargo, because the roads were so bad. According to the Herald, there were quite a few accidents on the highways around the area yesterday.
They closed I-29 sometime yesterday night as well. Although it was open earlier in the day for the game, it shows how bad the road conditions were.

True, Zajac and Stafford failed to score a goal, but I thought they had two assists on Friday?
I seem to remember seeing Zajac score a pretty big goal today.
-
Dmen scoring 3 of the 4 goals. Good to see them stepping up into the play.
Jones' goal was key, following the shot, bangs in the rebound. Good to see players crashing the net.

I am really surprised that Radke has been riding the bench the last few series. I thought he was really starting to look good out there and gain some confidence. Strange that he sits in favor of Marvin now, especially being that the Sioux will count on him next year to step up.
With the win over Wisco, plus other helpful games, the Sioux climb to #12 in the PWR, and tied for #9 with a 3-2-1 bonus. A sweep over the Badgers would help us out tremendously in gaining a bid in the tourney, I hope the boys can go out there and get it done tomorrow afternoon....

Rumor from PA and DUBAY earlier today was that Phil Kessel, yes, has in some way shape or form committed to UND. Anyone else here any info on this matter???
And so continues PA and Dubay's obsession with all things UND.
-
I'm not I want to saythis but PA and Dubay just said that Lee and Vandevelde are thinking of not coming to UND. Anybody have any insight on this?
PA and Dubay are just looking to ruffle the feathers of some UND fans, as they realize that the Gophs chances at a postseason run are faltering as well with the loss of Briggs.
Like redwing77 said, both these players have signed national LOI to play for UND, Lee for 05, VandeVelde more than likely 06, so I would expect them to be suited up for the Sioux in the upcoming years.
-
WTF?!?!?!
Did they bring him back too early, or what? I don't remember hearing anything during the UAA broadcasts.
I wonder if he is out for just the Wisco series, or if he will be back for the SCSU series.
This is insane the amount of games that Brady has missed this season due to injury.
-
To bad about Brady. He could of been the best player in college hockey this year, but he caught the sophomore jinx.
The sophomore jinx? I think he caught the injury bug, not the soph jinx.
-
Says alot about his talent when he is putting up those type of numbers while being on the 2nd/3rd line and not seeing much PP time.
I look forward to watching him next year....

21 Charles Genoway Forward 12 12-20-86 5'9" 170 Morden, MB 52 18 32 50 42
Updated SSM stats after their weekend tourney. They won all five of their games; 3-1, 6-1, 8-1, 10-0, and 2-0.
Genoway adds 4 points and one goal to his total.
Chorney only plays in one of the games, and registers no points. Not sure why he didn't play in the other 4 games.
Okposo has a good weekend, scoring 2 goals and 8 points total.
Gergen with a 3-4-7 line on the weekend.
Toews with an identical 3-4-7 line, staying 2 pts behind Gergen for the overall lead, although Gergen has played in 4 more games.
Appears that Toews doesn't go to the box too often, as he only has 34 PIMs all season, compared to Gergen's 92 PIMs and Okposo's 56 PIMs.
