  1. I agree that Elliott had the better weekend. He faced more shots, played against better opposition, and only let in one more goal than Parise. That said, Tech has improved this season, judging by their record and league standing. That's good to see an old hockey power get out of the cellar like that. And the fact that they got at least a point in the 3 weekends before playing the Sioux against some very good competition (UMN, UW, and SCSU) shows that they are improving.
  2. I was at the Sat UW/SCSU game, and the Huskies definitely got the better of the chances. Elliott bailed them out a few times.
  3. Which rookie did he share the honor with? Congrats to all 3, would have been sweet to see them sweep the awards!
  4. Don't tell other people that Kessel isn't deserving of an award that he clearly is deserving of.
  5. Take off the green-tinted glasses. Why is it so hard for you to acknowledge that a non-Sioux player had a good season?
  6. This argument is retarded. Kessel will win the award. And he deserves it. Oshie and Toews both had great years as well, but I have a feeling that they will come up a bit short in the race for the ROTY.
  7. Agreed. They have been getting their chances, so if they start putting some of those chances in net (combined with the increased scoring of the freshmen and the Stafford line), that could make the Sioux very dangerous in the playoffs.
  8. I would say that UMN is probably one of, if not the, best team in the country right now. They are playing very well. Fortunately for Sioux fans, with the one-and-done format of the NCAA tourney, anything can happen. They just have to make it. Kessel will win the ROTY. And he deserves it. Oshie will come up short, but he is going to be very fun to watch in his future year(s) here at UND. And with how Toews has come on lately, they will be quite the duo in the next year or two.
  9. We split with Harvard, but the tiebreaker for PWR is RPI, and the Sioux have a better RPI, so they win the tiebreaker. I don't necessarily think that we need to sweep Mankato to get into the tourney. I think just winning the series would be enough to get in...but I could be wrong.
  10. In the latest Bracketology from USCHO (with bonuses), the Sioux sit at #7, so if the season ended today, they would be a #2 seed. http://www.uscho.com/pdf/general/2006bracket.pdf
  11. Exactly. If the Sioux win tomorrow night, I will be very pleased to see them finish in 4th. Facing MSUM will be a tough series at the REA, but I think that the Sioux could beat them. I'm not going to worry about them losing their TUC status, because losing to them would hurt the Sioux much more than beating them and them losing their TUC status because of it. And like 7NationalTitles said, it would not be a given that they would even drop from TUC status if they lost to the Sioux in the 1st round. They will be very close. I agree that if the Sioux make it to the F5, they have a VERY good chance at making the tourney. Even better chance if they win their first game. All that aside now...let's focus on them wrapping up the sweep of Tech tomorrow and go from there.
  12. Does it go to goal differential?
  13. Spirko misses the net on a golden chance. He needs to break his slump!
  14. Watkins penalty. MTU on the PP.
  15. Sioux will start the 3rd with almost 2min of PP.
  16. The SCSU/UW game is quite boring. They have very similar styles.
  17. Penalties over. UW and SCSU are 0-0 at the start of the 3rd.
  18. Nice, good pass from Toews. Matching minors.
  19. That would have been a sweet first career goal...too bad.
