  1. DeRidder would have worked out great if he played like '2nd Half DeRidder' all season instead of putting '1st Half DeRidder' in the mix.
  2. Persson and Haider were the two best goalies in the portal. And if you've watched Persson play, you know he's a quality goalie. I think this is a great pickup.
  3. Pyke seemed to like it compared to Alaska. Ha! Yeah that's true. Although, if a 25yo goalie can lead UMN to the Frozen Four, one can lead UND there as well.
  4. I wonder...being that Persson has two years of eligibility remaining...do they delay Hedquist one more season (he still has one year of junior eligibility remaining) and bring in another goalie recruit or portal guy in a backup role? It's either that, or Hedquist spends his first two years as a backup at UND gaining some college experience (rather than being the go-to guy in juniors) and takes over the reigns his JR season. I wouldn't be surprised either way.
  5. Expected Roster as of 3/30/23 - Going by a somewhat typical 26-man roster (15 F / 8 D / 3 G): Forwards (13) Fr - Emerson / Perron So - Blake / James / McLaughlin / Strinden / Montgomery (RS) Jr - Schmaltz / Kunz Sr - Gaber / Jamernik / Ness Gr - Caulfield Defense (6) Fr - Benoit / Komzak / Wiebe / Livanavage / Strathmann Gr - Pyke Goalies (3) Fr - Hedquist So - Johnson Sr - Persson Undetermined Decision from Albrecht Portal and/or Recruit F - Could need two depending on what Albrecht does D - Need two
  6. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/und-lands-commitment-from-miami-goalie-ludvig-persson Uh-oh:
  7. Yes, he was spotted on campus yesterday and committed today.
  8. Nice. There it is. Starting to shape up now. I was hoping either Persson or Haider. Big plus is Persson has two years of eligibility remaining.
  9. I’m hoping both. That might be wishful thinking though. There’s a lot of east coast schools that will be in on those two as well.
  10. Yes. Two more dmen, a goalie, and a forward/center.
  11. Yeah, it's how I like to see it broken down as well so you can see it class by class. I actually debated that on Pyke when I typed it up...just changed it.
  12. Is the MSUM message board blowing up like what happened here yesterday?
  13. Expected Roster as of 3/30/23 - Going by a somewhat typical 26-man roster (15 F / 8 D / 3 G): Forwards (13) Fr - Emerson / Perron So - Blake / James / McLaughlin / Strinden / Montgomery (RS) Jr - Schmaltz / Kunz Sr - Gaber / Jamernik / Ness Gr - Caulfield Defense (6) Fr - Benoit / Komzak / Wiebe / Livanavage / Strathmann Gr - Pyke Goalies (2) Fr - Hedquist So - Johnson Undetermined Decision from Albrecht Portal and/or Recruit F - Could need two depending on what Albrecht does D - Need two G - Need one
  14. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/alaska-captain-garrett-pyke-commits-to-und Unfortunately only one year of eligibility remaining. Hopefully the other dman portal additions have 2+ years. I like his +/- though.
  15. He'll have his work cut out for him for sure. He's no longer the Big Fish in the little WCHA pond...he's now the Little Fish in the big B10 pond...at a school that could care less about hockey. It'll be interesting to see how long he takes to turn UW into a contender again.
  16. No there have been players not selected in the portal that have gone back to their original schools. It’s rare, but has happened.
  17. Two Frozen Four teams and the CCHA powerhouse. Huge PWR implications with those three teams all more than likely finishing high up in their conference standings.
  18. I guarantee that none of the d-corps or goalies from last season will get any playing time next season.
  19. Latest transfer portal entrants: SCSU D Brady Ziemer SCSU F Chase Brand Vermont G Cole Hudson Ohio St. F Mark Cheremeta
  20. Is KG the new scapegoat for all that ails the team?
  21. We'll see what transpires at those four schools once the season ends, but I'd bet that all four will lose players to the portal this season. Combined with UM and UMN losing a crapload to the pros as well. Many other college hockey teams that frequent the NCAA tourney are losing quite a few to the portal this offseason as well. UMass has lost 8 players to the portal. Northeastern has lost 9 players. BC has lost 7 players. Etc.
  22. 2002 team had 12 freshmen and five sophomores. http://www.collegehockeystats.net/0102/rosters/ndkm
  23. Wasn't there a year back in the early 2000's...I forget which season it was...where we had a few players graduate and then like 7-8 turn pro as well? So we had like 12-14 (or something like that) new players that next fall? I seem to recall that happening.
  24. If some of the posters on here were the head coach, the entire d-corps would have been told to leave by mid-season.
