  1. We are, for a few, remaining positive in outlook.

Even the casual observer could tell this year that Kaip is the

real deal, and was well on his way to marking himself as the

heart and soul of this team looking forward, much like Micky

Prpich has been looking back, and at present.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I really wouldn't say he is the "real deal". I have not been too impressed with him so far granted he has been injured for a while now. As I recall from a coaches show last year Blais said when speaking of him as a recruit that he "was a lot like McMahon but with more of a scoring touch". I wouldn't call 0 goals and 4 assists in 22 games much of a scoring touch. He is a freshman and hopefully he can recover from this and contribute to the team in the future.

  2. Just want to get the thread started.  The way UND played against CC, I think they are going to smoke BSU tonight.  Let's hope so.

Here is an opportunity for Fylling, Canady, & Massen to turn the corner on their senior seasons.  Here is a chance for Phil to be rewarded for a good game in goal with a "W."

    Go Sioux!

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I hope I am wrong but I certainly am not holding my breath that any of those three are going to start scoring this season. I just don't think it is going happen.

  3. I'm torn between who to root for this weekend in the UMD/UM series. On the one hand, we don't want Duluth to catch us in the WCHA standings; but on the other hand, if UM keeps in their current slump, we could eventually catch them.

I guess it doesn't matter though unless the Sioux can get some wins in their remaining WCHA schedule.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I would take the Dogs anytime over the Goofies. That is one team I never root for no matter what the situation. The Yankees and Goofy hockey are two teams that I wish the worst of luck.

  4. The way some have reacted on this board you would think the guy had killed someone. Has anybody heard of innocent until proven guilty? Even if he is found guilty it is a misdemeanor. Unfortunately a decent percentage of our population has been faced with the same charge Greene is facing. It is not the end of the world, the key is to learn something from the mistake.

  5. You all tell me what it's like to have your head "two-railed" off the driver's side window and windshield of your car (while wearing a seat belt no less) from being broadsided by a drunk driver and I'll tell you all about righteous indignation.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

people...people...people... We don't even know the facts of the case. If he broke the law he will be punished just like any other citizen, no judge is going to care that he plays hockey for the Sioux when determining his punishment. Drinking is a huge part of the college culture at UND as I can attest to as a graduate of the institution and negative consequences and poor choices sometimes result. Let's face it there is not much else to do in GF in the middle of winter when it is 30 below outside. If you drive while impaired you will have to be prepared to face the consequences if caught.

  6. Great post.....maybe the whole lavish atmosphere of the new REA has an effect on the play of these guys. I know in the past Blais complained about some of the guys out watching movies on the jumboton instead of getting focused for the game before a game. The new Ralph was necessary but it sure does not seem to strike fear in the opponents like the old barn did.

  7. I didn't watch an average Sioux team play this weekend so you must be talking about the wome's team?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Bottom line, this team cannot put the puck in the net, that is what the game is all about scoring more goals than the other team. Shots on goal do not earn you any points, part of the Sioux's problem from the games I have seen is too often they shoot the puck right into the goalies chest instead of trying to pick the corners. In my opinion this is a very average Sioux team.

  8. This would be a big boost for next year's team if he actually signs which based on the information I have read he will. He is going to be a big time player and we will have some very good forwards next year. Remember the regional is in GF next year so assuming the Sioux get in they will play at home to get to the frozen four just like the Goofers will this year. My biggest worry next year is on D, we will be awfully raw back there.

  9. We do not have anyone who is close to even being considerd at this point. One of the few years in recent memory where a Sioux player was not mentioned as a possible candidate for the award. Zajac has arguably been the best player for the Sioux this year as a freshman and that is not a good sign considering the large senior class we have. Hence, the average first half of the season. In my opinion Genoway and McMahon are the only seniors who have stepped up their games this year. Without increased production from some of the other seniors we will be lucky to sneak into the tournament. Hopefully the break will re-energize the team for the second half of the season and we can cut down on penalties and start scoring some more goals.

  10. The game is sold out.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Even though all the tickets were sold, most if not all of those were sold before the match up was known. I think there will be plenty of empty seats. Even the US Russia semifinal had quite a few empty seats.

  11. Subscription?

Meanwhile Heisenberg has put him on the Sioux recruit list, as of yesterday. :silly: (guessing that's what the article says).

With Kessel possibly leaning to the Gophers, it's nice to see Toews going to the Sioux.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Now if Kessel can choose anyone but the Goofers, the Sioux should be able to compete in the league even with what will be a very young team, especially on the blue line. The world junior tournament was just way too skilled compared to the Minnesota high school league for Lee to adjust in that short of time. Hopefully he gained some things from participating despite the lack of PT.

  12. I agree with this assessment. Moorhead has quite a few kids who are potentially capable of playing D1 hockey, but Lee is the best. His physical makeup, skating, puck handling, and smooth style reminds me most of a young James Patrick.

I saw a highlight of the GFC game from last night that featured a spectacular rush and assist by (I think) Marto. Wow!

I think the Sioux will need highly skilled offensive d-men to compete with Minnesota. They've got a good start with Radke this year and Lee and Chorney coming in. Marto could possibly fit the bill.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I think Lee will step right into the college game without missing a beat. He is like a man among boys in the high school game. He will be a great addition to what will be a very young d corps next year. As far as Radke, the jury is still out. You would think by luck he would have at least one stinkin point on the year. For a supposed offensive d-man, zero points on the year is not too good so far. Especially when you see how well some of the other rookie d-men in the WCHA are doing. The games I have seen, he does not look comfortable out there and is having a hard time adjusting to the speed of the game.

  13. I think CC will take 3 points this weekend, that will end some of this Goldy enthusiasm. CC will be primed and ready and they are tough to beat on home ice. The Goofs will come back to earth.
