  1. Goofer fans will do anything they can to diminsh the accomplishments of the Sioux this year, if we get the hat trick (McNaughton, Broadmoor and NC) they will try and find a way to diminish it somehow. That is the nature of the Goofer fan, even after back to back NC's they are still green with envy!@#!!!

  2. I doubt you will find any UND fan who would rather have Lucia, just like you would find few gopher fans who would prefer Blais. That is the nature of the rivalry, neither side will budge an inch on most topics.

  3. Well let me put it this way Woog got his as# kicked by the Sioux during the Blais era. The Sioux were down in the early 90's. Even most goofer fans will say Woog is an airhead. Too bad he is not still the coach. 1979 and Golden Chokers would still be very prevalent in taunting the Goofies.

  4. Don't kid yourself Woog does not defend the Sioux, He is as anti Sioux as anyone in that program, probably still holds a grudge for getting his ass kicked by the Sioux during his coaching tenure. I have heard him talk about the phantom assist thing on more than one occasion. Wooger Sucks!

  5. You are correct that the Dogz dominated the third period on Sat. but don't forget that UND dominated the second in much the same fashion. I think the shots in the 2nd were like 14 or 15-6. UND seemed to go into a defensive minded game in the third and were just dumping the puck in. That being said the Dogz really played well in the 3rd and could have easily tied the game if not for JB.

  6. There will be no eggs laid this weekend WPOS. How could an egg be laid with the outright title on the line. Sioux will sweep this weekend, Tech is no match for them if they even bring their "B" game. Scores were 8-4 and 4-0 in Houghton.

  7. Let's Go Sioux.....Let's GO Sioux......Let's Go Sioux.....That is great news but I don't know if I really want the Sioux to be #1 going into the NCAA's. A lot of pressure comes with that but I see this team really building some resolve and I am getting that same feeling as 2000. What a coincidence we were swept at Wisco that year too but kicked their as& in the final five and beat the Eagles in Providence. Let's hope for deja Vu this time in Beantown!

  8. I saw my second and third game in person this weekend at the DECC. I was very impressed with the sioux D this weekend. Friday night Duluth had very few good scoring chances and the PK was excellent. Sat. Brandt saved the day although the Sioux played great in the 2nd period. Third period they were really on their heels but Brandt was OUTSTANDING, I sat right behind him, high enough to see the angles and he was in great position for every stop. It was kind of funny when Smaby swatted his stick against the goal and Jake did not see him do it and the backswing hit Jake right in the back of the head. Jake turned around and was looked like what the hell was that. It was a bad break. I feel confident about the Sioux's chances of getting to Boston especially if we can stay on the smaller ice, Duluth just could not penetrate the tree's in the D-corps. Go Brandt Go, the best I have ever seen him play this weekend. The boys (for the most part played with discipline. A couple of dumb penalties at the end of the period on both Fri and Sat but the PK was good all weekend!

  9. The only tradition UMD fans can talk about is some antics and cheers by their fans. They don't have much of a hockey tradition to stand behind. Maybe the UMD players pay to much attention to the stuff going on in the stands rather than concentrate on the ice. Maybe that is why they are still stuck on ZERO! Focus on the game Dogz fans, you guys have a good team.

  10. I can see both sides of the issue. I just hate to see players leave college early. I don't care about the NHL other than a casual Wild fan. I care about the Sioux and college hockey. I personally do not think Parise is ready and I believe the Devils will do the smart thing and sign him after next season. He is only 19 years old and can develop a lot more at the college level. The defenseman at the NHL level are a world apart from the college level. Parise is a great talent but who knows if that will translate into NHL success. It is a totally different game from college hockey and the world Jr tournament.

  11. Drunk Hockey Guy, your threats do not scare anyone. I would never do this in an opposing arena. However if someone from the opposing teams fan base does it so be it. There is no law on the books stating you cannot run around the DECC in Duluth. If that person is as you say "beaten up" the one doing the assaulting will be the one who goes to jail. No one is going to be scared by the threats you put on this board if that is your purpose. This is an internet message board, it is pretty timid to threaten anyone on here. What if the person who runs around the rink is 6' 6" and 300 pounds is he going to get beat up, I DON'T THINK SO!!@

  12. Personally, if he leaves after this year I could care less what he does in New Jersey. I get tired of these college players jumping early to the pros and not even making the show( Commodore, Roche, B. Lundbohm among others). IMO if he left after this year WITHOUT a national championship Minnesota did not miss out that much. If the Sioux win the NC then I could see him leaving, he is not ready for the NHL, he needs to get stronger. The NHL is all about physical play and he gets beat physically at times at the college level.

  13. The Sioux need to get some traffic in front of Reichmuth and get some garbage goals. He is the best goaltender in the league and we cannot just shoot the puck into the goalie's chest like we did too often in Wisco against Bruckler. I hope Blais sticks with the same line combos. Fabian deserves to be in the line-up. I expect to see the same line-up and combos at least to start the game. Canady and Massen are just not producing and I think they sit this weekend. Fabian is not a great skater but he does not take dumb penalties like Canady and Massen just does not have it together this year.

  14. Dagies- In reading your post I can see your point. Let me put it this way, in a big series like this I am counting on the experience of Blais to come through. I think Blais is a very good coach although I have questioned some of his moves this year. I am hoping that Blais can guide this young team to the McNaughton cup and then on to Beantown. In Blais we trust!

  15. WPOS - The only reason you say you do not care about winning the league is because your guys do not have a shot at winning it. Believe me if the goofies were in the race all you POIers would be talking about wanting to hoist the cup at Mucci.

It goes without saying that winning the cup does not have much to do with winning the NC except for seeding. I think the last team to get the hat trick was the 97' Sioux. I believe sharing the title with the Goofies, beating the Goofies for the Broadmoor (great goal by Armbrust) and winning the NC over Bu at the Bradley Center. GO SIOUX

  16. I think the Sioux are going to come out flying on Fri night. Everyone is healthy and we are rolling 4 lines. Let's not forget that Blais is the master and Sandy is the understudy. Blais knows Sandy's tendencies well. There cannot be any stupid needless penalties this weekend (are you listening Prpich?). Set a physical tone but do not take the needless elbow or charge. Hopefully there will be a big Sioux presence, I cannot wait to get up there. This week of work is really going to drag!!

    GO Sioux!

  17. I would have to go with Murray. His speed is a great asset to the team. He has at least met and maybe exceeded expectations and that is a good accomplishment considering he was considered a big time recruit. Porter would get my vote for second with J Par third and Stafford fourth. Smaby has been a disappointment IMO.

  18. The new arena may be a great recruiting tool and all but to me there is no comparison in atmosphere and intimidation factor with the old Ralph. The main disappointment to me in the new arena is the corporate influence and the lack of atmosphere, it feels like a pro hockey atmosphere. The biggest donors get the best seats and half the time they don't show up and when they do they sit on their hands. I realize money rules the day but something needs to be done to bring back the Sioux home ice advantage.
