And yet, on tonight's NBC Nightly News, they said that the number of structurally deficient bridges in the country has declined over the past several years. I wonder whose fault that is? Edit: Good editorial on the gouls whose first impulse is to politicize a tragedy.

That is not the case, however. The meeting can be closed under state law if certain conditions apply, which they do for this lawsuit. I believe that AG Stenehjem has always or nearly always briefed board members on the case, just as he did in this instance.

Sure. I can speculate until the cows come home. It doesn't mean anything, but I can do it. I'd like to know what this means: If the board is meeting behind closed doors and nobody is talking about what's going on in those sessions, how does the Herald know whether the board has given Stenehjem any "substantive direction"?

Thanks. One thing I can't stand about situations like this is when the national network talking heads talk over the local coverage with their mindless speculation. Why can't they just let the local reporters on the scene who know more about what's going on tell us?

I'm watching the live coverage on Fox News. Unbelievable. I hope it doesn't turn out as bad as it looks, but right now, it looks bad.
